Fucking eat a dick Westinghouse. You dick heads ruined nuclear power in the United States. South Carolinians really missed out on clean, reliable energy. We hate you.

I have only vague memories of this past Sunday

Westinghouse also makes really shitty (but admittedly super affordable) TVs

Getting day drunk is one of my favourite things to do when I have the time,

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go ahead! Get day drunk for a while but you'll hit a wall if you go too long!

I really wish we had the time and money invested into nuclear at this point.

I'm sad to hear about to hear about the layoff. Nuclear is one of several mediocre options.

sorry all i can think of is Westinghouse breakers lol Cutler Hammer/Eaton BR series

Come to GA bro. They are still building Vogtle units 3 & 4

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love how this post has no nuclear haters. Nuclear power FTW! But where?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Best of luck on your next adventure!

I worked there in the QC department until June 2016. New job sucks but not as much as getting laid off. Good luck to you.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Ah that they kinda fucked up at a lot of turns with that. It was a very expensive science experiment.

My restaurant unexpectedly closed Monday, I'll share an unemployed drink with you, brother! Cheers!

Former nuke here. Good luck with your job search.

You need to have a little fun during the bad times. Best of luck with your next endeavour!

I feel for you, the industry is shrinking fast. CB&I completely fucked up both Summer and Vogtle.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Getting fired from my last job was one of the best things that has ever happened to me. You'll bounce back. Make sure that you do though.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm really sorry about your layoff. :( My significant other works at SRS and was thinking of trying to get on with VC Summer when I (1/2)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Relocated from Augusta to Columbia. Glad we didn't attempt that. Hang in there! Good luck with your job search!! (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nobody said you had to search for new jobs sober

8 years ago | Likes 191 Dislikes 2

That's how I got (and quickly lost) several jobs!

I felt my applications had a little more oomph when I applied while tipsy.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

God bless you sir.

What did you do before?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1st. sorry about your residence in S.Carolina. Sincerely, N.Carolina. 2nd. man, fuck those guys

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Might be a good idea to be sober when you apply though.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

For the interview, really

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also a good plan

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just remember if you apply drunk, then you have to interview drunk or else you'll forget your answers

Nuclear is clean produces very little waste, period.

8 years ago | Likes 57 Dislikes 5

And the waste it does produce is far less dangerous than most people think it is. We've seriously missed out.

8 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

It's one of the cleanest there is. Steam is the main waste product. And don't worry. The guys running the plants know their stuff.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Our current waste could be recycled if we build more pellet reactors like the test one in Idaho. Can't go critical, shuts itself down.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

What happened

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nuclear disarmament treaties and negative propaganda against nuclear

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Mostly a lot of bad PR and a lot of ignorance. People think nuclear waste is difficult to manage, and overestimate how urgent the danger is.

Coal ash puts off more radiation than a nuclear plant

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Not so much for Uranium mining though...destroys native lands in the u.s. thrpugh pollution and over mining

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

So does coal. Also Uranium is quite a scarce resource worldwide making it hard for it to have much of an impact.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

One solution would be thorium, as it is more abundant in nature and leaves lower amounts of radioactive debris

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But you can't make weapons out of thorium so no government wants to fund it

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Not true, It isn't funded because it would compete with oil companies due to its high energy and low waste outputs.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Toxic avengers!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But the waste takes 100,000 years to decay

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ya, the very, very little waste that it produces. Sure ya.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Watch "Into Eternity" to see how to deal with waste

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Humanity's shown it's not even remotely ready for the responsibility of taking care of that "little" waste
