Search algorithms put you on page nine or worse unless you satisfy lots of ad views before you get to the desired content

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

apparently they do that cause google punishes you if users don't don't stay long enough scroll enough on your site....

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Damn...! What font size you printing that at...?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ctrl+F ingredients

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, they're the ones with the consideration to share the recipes we don't know. Let them say what they want.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Guys, all of this has to do with SEO and Google's algorithm. If you don't like it, stop giving those sites your attention.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

just like a YouTube dude talking about how a combustion engine works...all I wanna know is type of gas i should use...the asshole!!!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

God, I hate this!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hello this is a steak, let me talk about the inspiration for the most basic of meals ever.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it doesn’t have “jump to recipe” I don’t care how good it looks, they can do to hell!!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or when they put the step by step instructions before the ingredients like some kind of psychopath.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Gotta make space for all those ads

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

FUCKING THIS

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

“When Mr Bilbo Baggins of Bag End announced that he would shortly be celebrating his eleventy-first birthday with a party..."

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah, no, that’s instant „let’s look somewhere else“ for me.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Type bbc after whatever you want to make, the recipe is at the top of the page

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And often mediocre

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How else will they get out their super unique story?!

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

It’s gotten worse. Now, with more pop ups and ads!

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You forgot about all the ads and pop up videos now too. Finding a recipe online drives me crazy. I'd rather have a cookbook library.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It surprises me that adblockers still aren't installed right away for most people. It should be next in line after installing a new browser

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Recipes are almost impossible to copyright so they tack on a story so they can publish it as original content.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I use an app called Paprika 3 to scrape those website and just hand me the recipe.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s what you get if you’re too cheap to buy a cookbook. Ctrl-F 1 Cup usually will race right to the recipe.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My cookbook doesn't have every recipe

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hence the small service of scrolling past inane bullshit to get ad count.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorites have the "Skip to recipe" button at the top. Love those people. Fairly certain the crazy long stories help google ratings.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Yeah at least give us the option of whether or not we want to suffer through a story

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I heard google has Recipe Filter extension that looks for recipe in a page and shows it as pop up.

5 years ago | Likes 48 Dislikes 0

Recommend the Yummly app for the same. Tells you the basic ingredients etc up front, mainly (still have to click through to boring shit tho)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I gotta get that

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

There's usually a "print recipe" link at the top. Puts everything right there nice and clean

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Paprika app is also super good for this

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you want a really decadent but tasty one, here you go: in a saucepan, cook some srimps with shallots and garlic, after they're cooked 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can de-shell the shrimps, put em back in the saucepan and add cooking cream and lemon juice to taste , wait until cream reduces a bit

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then add grated parmesan to thicken the sauce, add salt pepper to taste n that part's done, now one trick i like to do

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is take the pastas and put them in the saucepan and finish the last bit of cooking in the sauce, it makes em absorbs the flavors

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

With this recipe although, i'd highly recommend adding mussels or anchovies to it (they can be put same time as shrimp, be sure to throw out

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any unopened mussels)

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

When I was 6 I caught my first fish with my great grampy and that's where this recipe starts. 3 pages of life history later.

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Only 3, before he gave the recipe on his deathbed? Not an interesting life, then? :P /s

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No kidding

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean I usually read the backstory I think it’s kinda nice but sometimes it’s really annoying when it’s like literally 20 pages 1/2

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And like after 19 pages of story the recipe is like condensed into half a page that’s worded really badly

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There should be a "feeling sentimental" option or "I'm in a fucking rush, let's go" option

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dice onion & garlic -fry in oil-add 5+ anchovies-fry-add raw seafood-fry til sealed-add 500ml passata-some salt pepper & sugar and done! :-)

5 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 1

That’s good pasta.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sugar?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I thought I’d try and do it quicker ;-)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Dude if you’re not substituting the tomatoes for cream and adding a little baby spinach sometimes then you’re missing a treat

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Gosh, I love salmon with tagliatelle and cream sauce. And, of course, lots of spinach.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh yes absolutely! It’s so good! I add a LOT of parsley to it though as well.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Or visit your grandma and watch. ^^

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Anchovies? What about shrimp and lobster meat instead

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Well the anchovies melt, and end up giving the sauce an awesome seafoody flavour, without taking away from whatever actual seafood you add.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Woah I didn't know that

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Try it, it tastes so good!

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Do you chop them up first?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This shit drives me crazy. Nobody fkn cares about your wholesome childhood, just tell me how to make a damned pie!

5 years ago | Likes 378 Dislikes 4

::slaps roof of food blog:: look how many ads...

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its done for SEO. If they didn’t you wouldn’t find a recipe for linguini. May I suggest using the app all recipes or the “food” network app

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a newish bartender that doesnt know how to make EVERY drink that exists in the WORLD the birthday verification for recipes drives me nuts

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

On mobile, there's an option in the URL bar for reader mode that's more streamlined. Easier to scroll past ads and life stories.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It has to do with people not being able to legally copypasta of people's recipes.

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

It has to do with copyright. Recipes can't be copyrighted, but a story and a recipe can.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Speak for yourself. And yes, I also read playboy for the articles

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's a chrome extension, Recipe Filter, that gives you just the recipe, works a treat.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They do this for ad reveneu. The longer the story, the more ads you scroll past, making them more money. Its nothing more than that.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats why if you look at Kraft or Campbell websites there is no stories. They dont need the ad money, they just want you on their site

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bless whoever created the "Jump to Recipe" Button

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Blame google, it's the fault of their algorithm.

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

Should be top comment

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Its actually all based on ads... Still googles fault though

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Recipes are lists, and cannot be copyrighted. Unique stories that precede them can be copyrighted.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The real reason they do it is worse... Longer story means you scroll by more adds, making them more money

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My sister ghost wrote for a celebrity cook book. There was no scrolling involved.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thats cool! Different than the typical googled recepie, probably much better

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Me & my mother loved to laugh and make this delicious dessert in the kitchen of our sunny side cottage in the prairies" TELL ME THE RECIPE

5 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

I just wanted to know which crackers would be good in chicken meatloaf but I couldn't find an ingredient list in 4 different pages so- RITZ!

Skip to recipe........ we first made this when I was home from a holiday in... FUÙUUCK!!!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My favorite is the brownie recipe that starts out mentioning September 11th.

5 years ago | Likes 130 Dislikes 0

That's kind of weird, OSAMA?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Now I'm curious

5 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Holyshit this is next level insane. Thanks for the link!!

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Is she actually quoting herself in the third person, under her own by-line?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not to mention: “Abstemiousness,” she wrote, “is not an option when you're feeling low.”

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can't view it because they want me to create an account first.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

If you're fast and/or bored enough, you can screenshot it before it throws up the login overlays

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I refuse to do that shit. Not a conspiracy thing, just laziness. Or pessimism. No recipe is worth creating an account.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I read the very beginning before the popup, "Shortly after September 11, 2001"

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Grab an add-on called 'Behind the Overlay'.
