Search algorithms put you on page nine or worse unless you satisfy lots of ad views before you get to the desired content
Slash0mega
apparently they do that cause google punishes you if users don't don't stay long enough scroll enough on your site....

I mean, they're the ones with the consideration to share the recipes we don't know. Let them say what they want.

Guys, all of this has to do with SEO and Google's algorithm. If you don't like it, stop giving those sites your attention.

Hello this is a steak, let me talk about the inspiration for the most basic of meals ever.
lurkilydurkiler
If it doesn’t have “jump to recipe” I don’t care how good it looks, they can do to hell!!
daintyturdnuggets
Or when they put the step by step instructions before the ingredients like some kind of psychopath.

How else will they get out their super unique story?!

It’s gotten worse. Now, with more pop ups and ads!
auztin78
You forgot about all the ads and pop up videos now too. Finding a recipe online drives me crazy. I'd rather have a cookbook library.
ElvisStarburst
It surprises me that adblockers still aren't installed right away for most people. It should be next in line after installing a new browser
FluffyDon360
Recipes are almost impossible to copyright so they tack on a story so they can publish it as original content.
AdamBenjaminCrafter
I use an app called Paprika 3 to scrape those website and just hand me the recipe.
https://www.paprikaapp.com/
ToSisPoS
That’s what you get if you’re too cheap to buy a cookbook. Ctrl-F 1 Cup usually will race right to the recipe.
My cookbook doesn't have every recipe
Hence the small service of scrolling past inane bullshit to get ad count.
Foodisthebeesknees
My favorites have the "Skip to recipe" button at the top. Love those people. Fairly certain the crazy long stories help google ratings.
Yeah at least give us the option of whether or not we want to suffer through a story
SpaceCatKatia
I heard google has Recipe Filter extension that looks for recipe in a page and shows it as pop up.
MosquitoHawker
Recommend the Yummly app for the same. Tells you the basic ingredients etc up front, mainly (still have to click through to boring shit tho)
I gotta get that
nclu
There's usually a "print recipe" link at the top. Puts everything right there nice and clean
bd500
Paprika app is also super good for this
DraydanGuitar
If you want a really decadent but tasty one, here you go: in a saucepan, cook some srimps with shallots and garlic, after they're cooked 1/2
You can de-shell the shrimps, put em back in the saucepan and add cooking cream and lemon juice to taste , wait until cream reduces a bit
Then add grated parmesan to thicken the sauce, add salt pepper to taste n that part's done, now one trick i like to do
Is take the pastas and put them in the saucepan and finish the last bit of cooking in the sauce, it makes em absorbs the flavors
With this recipe although, i'd highly recommend adding mussels or anchovies to it (they can be put same time as shrimp, be sure to throw out
Any unopened mussels)
DustyPigeon
When I was 6 I caught my first fish with my great grampy and that's where this recipe starts. 3 pages of life history later.
keillrandor
Only 3, before he gave the recipe on his deathbed? Not an interesting life, then? :P /s
No kidding
xLynnuh
I mean I usually read the backstory I think it’s kinda nice but sometimes it’s really annoying when it’s like literally 20 pages 1/2
And like after 19 pages of story the recipe is like condensed into half a page that’s worded really badly
There should be a "feeling sentimental" option or "I'm in a fucking rush, let's go" option
Juddernaught
Dice onion & garlic -fry in oil-add 5+ anchovies-fry-add raw seafood-fry til sealed-add 500ml passata-some salt pepper & sugar and done! :-)

That’s good pasta.

Sugar?
I thought I’d try and do it quicker ;-)

Dude if you’re not substituting the tomatoes for cream and adding a little baby spinach sometimes then you’re missing a treat
Gosh, I love salmon with tagliatelle and cream sauce. And, of course, lots of spinach.
Oh yes absolutely! It’s so good! I add a LOT of parsley to it though as well.
reineseele
Or visit your grandma and watch. ^^
Anchovies? What about shrimp and lobster meat instead
Well the anchovies melt, and end up giving the sauce an awesome seafoody flavour, without taking away from whatever actual seafood you add.
Woah I didn't know that
Try it, it tastes so good!
Do you chop them up first?
ErrantPursuits

It has to do with copyright. Recipes can't be copyrighted, but a story and a recipe can.

There's a chrome extension, Recipe Filter, that gives you just the recipe, works a treat.
SeriousIy
They do this for ad reveneu. The longer the story, the more ads you scroll past, making them more money. Its nothing more than that.
Thats why if you look at Kraft or Campbell websites there is no stories. They dont need the ad money, they just want you on their site
NautiGal
Bless whoever created the "Jump to Recipe" Button

Blame google, it's the fault of their algorithm.
Should be top comment
Its actually all based on ads... Still googles fault though
welluhwhatdoyouwantmetosay
Recipes are lists, and cannot be copyrighted. Unique stories that precede them can be copyrighted.
The real reason they do it is worse... Longer story means you scroll by more adds, making them more money
My sister ghost wrote for a celebrity cook book. There was no scrolling involved.
Thats cool! Different than the typical googled recepie, probably much better
