Here in Arizona we seldom have termite issues but the carpenter ants take their place on any untreated wood. Fun to watch.

My dad had termites in Phoenix. Visited one day and noticed a foot long mud tube growing down from the ceiling in his guest room.

The high country forests which are about 1/3 of the state aren't insanely hot and this is where the ants are most located.

I've hiked in the desert a lot. I've seen a lot of carpenter ants, but the amount of vegetation-shaped dirt from termites is staggering.
