I watched it. Seems more grounded in a way. Emphasis is on Arthur rather than The Tick. Arthur is crazy in this one.

Yeah, the pilot is definitely different in tone from previous shows. Kinda dark when The Tick isn't on the screen.

The cartoon always played it off as funny, but IIRC, the original comic portrayed him as legitimately being mentally ill.

In think the comic or the animated show I always felt he was a little off but it's the execution of done by each of them that make it work.
