Is Templeton Rye a good whiskey? Any recommendations for what might be a better tasting whiskey?

Definitely one of the best Mid-tier whiskeys

I'm a Maker's Mark guy, myself. It's good with some sours or bitters, or straight. If you're feeling fancy, Glenlivet is good.

I like it a lot. I got a six-year Templeton as a gift and it was really really good.

Was that in the low-mid $20s. How are you drinking it? I could name a few in that price range that I like & keep on hand. I drink it neat.

If you're like me and into the Irish stuff then Tullamore Dew is great. A little sweet but still pretty good. Kilbeggan stuff is hard to

go wrong with as well. They've a decent lineup for various budgets. If you're mixing I'd go with a sour mash though.

You don’t drink rye because it tastes good. You drink rye because it’s alcohol Valhalla.

Tbh shine is the real Valhalla. Sipping something that makes your mouth numb and makes you drool isn't as fun as it sounds though. ?

I mean, it says it's good stuff right there on the bottle.

Thanks. Is it pricey?

The 4 & 6 year olds are typically under $40 according to Whizzky.

Weird coincidence - turns out I had a $3 off coupon for Templeton 4 yr, so I just got a bottle for $29!

When the world opens back up, Google whiskey bars or tastings near you. Much of what is "good" is subjective.

Thanks. I know what you mean. What may be good to you may not be good to me.

Exactly. Also, pricier does not always mean betterer. Happy hunting!

Agreed! I've had whiskey from 800$ bottles and 20$ bottles. My favorite to this day is Kilbeggan's Traditional Irish.

A while back I found the Ezra Brooks brand. It's super cheap and plenty good enough for me to sip. I was really surprised.

Price does not equal quality w/Whiskey. It only indicates rarity.
