Okay I'll give some more clarification. I've been working seasonal jobs for years while continuing to apply for permanent positions so the 419 applications is over the course of several years. When I started this job, I was warned that the boss had a terrible temper and to be very careful when he seemed stressed. About twice a week someone would get in his line of fire and be insulted to tears. The first time it happened to me was on the third day of work. A total of four employees sobbed that day, men and women. The incident that sent me walking was a few days ago at a job site I was instructed to remove several dead plants from the property. I did so. Today I asked the boss what he would like ordered to replace the dead plants. He said he only wanted one of them removed, and removing all of them was equivalent to stealing. I showed him my documentation of him confirming the removal of all the plants, and he blew up. Basically insulting the core of my personality, in front of a crew of 20 coworkers. He told me I couldn't quit because he would make sure no one would ever hire me again. Then something clicked in my head that this was abusive, so I walked.

Without knowing the details, this sounds a bit snowflakey to me @op...

WeirdEnoughDavey
High salary = high stakes If you can’t take the heat get the hell out of the kitchen.
dadmonster83
Maybe should have gotten another job or a plane ticket home before quitting?
Oatmealer
419 applications is quite excessive.

Forced to quit, he tested you and you failed that's all.
CatsAreOurGods
"tested" ... right.

Who wants to invest in an employee that costs a substantial amount of energy and money if they can't cut it.
CatsAreOurGods
who would want to work for an emotionally abusive asshole of a boss?
krugle
We don't actually know he's abusive, most likely he gave tough deadlines or kept up on OP to put a little pressure on and see the reaction.
CatsAreOurGods
we don't know that he's not abusive - I'm more inclined to believe OP than I am to agree with you.

Seems like you're willing too make assumptions, but only on one side of the equation.
