This was one of my favorite stops to park my rig while going through South Dakota. Easily the coolest rest area I’ve ever seen.

Well, put it back before anyone notices! It's already been a year!

Well, they lost literally everything including so many lives, but at least they got a sweet Borderlands-like statue.

i read this as digity at first

Hopefuly the native Americans provided that blanket, otherwise this is sending a very different message.

That is a big ass wind sail.. looks like the colored pieces move to allow wind to pass through.. but .. hope it has some good structure.

I peed at that rest stop last week.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How does that not blow over?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Instead of giving native Americans money & respect we are giving you a giant expensive doll that you can never touch.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nice

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hope it's stronger than it looks.

Chamberlain is the first good part of driving west from Minnesota. The views are amazing, and there's finally terrain and elevation change.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like the way you work it, no dignity

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kirk, I don’t know what that is

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

These kinds of statues need to replace all Confederate Traitors.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is anyone called Gage? That sounds like one of those names Japanese people think Americans have from video games

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

There was an especially gnarly pornstar named Gage or Guage or something back in the 90s/early 00s

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's an extremely old-fashioned name, more common as a surname now - kind of like how Mable and Bertha fell out of use.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The zombie baby from Pet Sematary was called Gage. But I've never met someone in real life with that name.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That’s where my mom got my name

Next, vote out that disgusting Republican witch, Gov.Christie gnome

You want me to show this to the cat, and have the cat tell you what it is? 'Cause the cat's going to get it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's so obviously dignity, what the hell was Luann bitching about?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Was there in the fall of 2020. Very nice piece of art. This picture doesn't do the scale justice though. If you stood next to it, your...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Whoa, that's awesome!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

... the Missouri River Valley. Definitely a nice scenic stop to make if you're in the area or passing through.

The artist used three different Native American females as models for this statue. Dale Claude Lamphere is his name.

Thats interesting because i know a native American with the same last name but he is a narragansett.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, I always upvote Native American statues and kuzins.

And still he managed to make only 2 eyes, 1 hair, 2 legs and so

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

It's almost as if he'd never heard of Picasso.

Where in SD is this? Looks either east river or badlands area?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just outside Chamberlain on 90 at the rest area across the Missouri River

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where is this statue located?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Near Mount Rushmore. Chamberlain South Dakota. It's called "Dignity of Earth and Sky"

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I mean it's halfway across the state from Mt. Rushmore, but...yeah.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

@derpwagon You're right. I was thinking of the Crazy Horse monument.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No worries! I mean, it's nearer to Mt. Rushmore than say...Minneapolis where I'm at :)

Next step, giving the tribes back their sovereign land that was given to them by the USA government.

5 years ago | Likes 215 Dislikes 4

"Uh.... how about another statue?"

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

YES

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Its all good giving them back the land but what happens if they strike oil !!

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I am suggesting good old USA will find WMD's and invade.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not a repeat of the past and their rights will be respected?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You going to give up your land? How about not actively poisoning them with liquior stores stationed outside the reservation and free medica

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

medical and keep the white policemen off stop hate trolls. Also what few cattle is left needs dewormed.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't own any land, don't even own the land under my house. But sure, why not. It's the right thing to do.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had an idea. Give them all the national parks.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Disagree, they need decent land to economically develop. Keep the parks for all but give the tribes some decent land to develop.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's plenty of private citizens getting rich using land in the national parks. Allow them to run the parks , continue to receive federal

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Money that is allocated to the parks and keep any proceeds. Develop sensibly and according to native american values and tradition

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Continue to allow the public access with permits/fees as now. Allow them to be guardians is some of the most beautiful land in our country

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And maybe some reparations made, and some apologies carved into stone, and some fucking humility from the US Govt, might be nice

5 years ago | Likes 79 Dislikes 2

Speaking as a black man...good luck on those reparations,,,

Speaking as a white man pretending to be a republican that pretends to be a gay black man. I agree
