Think like a hetero (x-post /r/pussy)

We call them squids. Theyre soft, squishy, and terribly aggressive

I've seen the inside of a bud's foot after a spill in chucks. Countless surgeries and two skin grafts. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WEAR BOOTS.

I do it because it makes me feel like i'm flying and also it only costs me $4 to fill up my tank at most.

Malcolm in the Middle explain it better.

Try holding a piece of paper on one side and blowing right above it, the paper will go up, exactly like a plane works

Bernoulli's Principle, right?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope, Bernoulli's Principle only applies to closed systems, and as far as the bike/wind system is concerned, the atmosphere is hella open.

Looks like Calvin grew up

He's got a different name and stuff but I like to think it's the author's head canon that he's Calvin grown up.

I know it's a different guy, but I secretly hope it's all an elaborate ruse by Bill Watterson.

Caulfield. From Frazz. Totally different, yet equally awesome comic

.... that's a lot of words

I know some of these.

Could be worse. He could be playing card games on it.

C'mon Crow, lets go play a card game while standing completely still...on...the...ground!!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Interesting thing is if you have. A smallish flag on the back of your bike it will wave backwards

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Really? I must try this!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've seen it happen a few times on bikes that you sit up to drive. So I assume the reason it does that is the same with it but a larger area

Why TF this on FP with 1 upvote?

To make you ask questions.

Imgur's more than UserSub. They've always had posts come from Reddit with zero points if they're popular.

Something to do with Reddit

Except that lift theory they've been teaching us for decades is actually incorrect. https://www.grc.nasa.gov/www/k-12/airplane/wrong1.html

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to that link, there is absolutely nothing wrong stated in the cartoon.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

"The difference in pressure [...] produces the lift. As we have seen in Experiment #1, this part of the theory is correct."

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It has nothing to do with pressure, it's actually the friction of the surface of the shirt pulling the air down 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and because the shirt is pulling the air down, Newton's third law means equal and opposite reaction of the air pulls the shirt back up.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's the same way an aeroplane wing works. Pressure difference would only work in a closed system. The atmosphere isn't exactly closed.

What I've always wondered is how he's not freezing

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Above a certain temp, riding fast is just like riding through an oven. There is wind but it doesn't cool you down.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Interesting, thanks for the info! :)

Little know fact: Unless you wear leather any fall on a bike will mess you up regardless of shorts or jeans. Jeans have ZERO armor rating.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 3

Unless they're armored jeans... and I'm not being facetious, those do exist and they're pretty cool.

9 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

+1 but I feel as if that's understood that I'm talking about denim.

Textile gear also work not as good as leather but better than a pair of short shorts.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Motorcycle textiles. And they do protect but are not as good in a pure slide. Racing suits are still all leather for a reason.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes but I don't normally go over 60 while a bike on a track goes 120mph+.

I like a good combo jacket myself

A 5-star is never ok, though.

Is it the same op tho? This one doesn't have a name

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This guy used a period and not an exclamation point so it is different.
