Recovering well from the fire we had in 2017. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen again.

What I wouldn't do to see these things in real life

Looks awesome, thanks for sharing

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Is that Multnomah, @op? I’ve been a few times and it is so pretty!!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That is correct

Part of environment day is acknowledging that we live on stolen land.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Great, now I have to pee

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Bad flashbacks to the flood I'm still recovering from...

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking Portland Native that's Multnomah Falls bitches! Off of Highway 84 heading East from Portland Exit 31. Better be early!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Remember that Airbender saying the monks had? "Abandon hope"? Hoping doesn't stop fires. Action does.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Note that the episode doesn't fully agree with that saying as we learn by the end

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Today's International Holocaust Remembrance Day? But you helped me find this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_environmental_dates

when you've seen it

I would love to nap there. I've been as a child... I wonder if I did nap.

Do they still require tickets to visit? Also is there a bathroom to use there?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I think they're doing them in the summer months to cut down on traffic on the old highway

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No tickets when I was there in October. There's a cafe and toilets.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Did they start doing tickets during covid because I don't remember tickets before that?

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Yea tickets were definitely a covid thing, I went before covid and you just walk in whenever

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Haven't been in years, too many people, can't get up the trails without having to wait, miss the days when it was quiet and peaceful to go

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

don't go in the summer. Spring and fall, especially mid week are best.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I miss Multnomah Falls...

3 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 1

Indeed

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Thanks for confirming, I knew I’d been here before.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Don’t worry it’s still right where you left it, waiting.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Multnomah Falls is awesome, but super crowded - nearby there’s another one you can walk behind

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

seriously when was this video taken? where are the other 200 people?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Maybe it was during an IPA release party. New flavors: Bark dust and pine sap

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oneonta falls is my favorite

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Thanks for naming the place. I had it as Rivendell …

3 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

Hey! You’re finally awake!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the others are lying! This IS Rivendell!

The beautiful Multnomah Falls.. I was on that bridge one freezing New Year’s Day, and a couple days later I got pneumonia :’(

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

That was also on the bingo card.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Little shit that started the fire got off easy

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 5

I was so mad a group of idiot kids were throwing fireworks DURING A FIRE BAN in one of the most beautiful places in the NW to hike.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

In hindsight a forest fire makes sense, but for a second or two I was like: Waterfall on fire? Checks out with the 2020 luck.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It was on the bingo card.

Doesn't look like he came away so easy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Creek_Fire

$36 million, from a 15 year old.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

So they put the kid on a ten year payment plan to pay $36 million. Seems like it was a realistic goal.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

aahaa, screensaver with sound. nice

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Pretty much what I do

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you save screens?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My favorite hiking spot Eagle CreekTrail, destroyed by a teen throwing fireworks down a cliff. I cried for days. 2017 was bad year for me

3 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 4

The only solace I’ve been able to take is that we have the opportunity to see it grow from the beginning. I’ve helped replant up there.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

The teen is paying for it for the rest of his life: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Creek_Fire

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

How the hell is this kid supposed to pay $36 million in 10 years? I'm not even sure I've made $1 million in 10 years...

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

he is not expected to pay in full. his salaries will be docked until the ten year period has passed, then he will pay no more.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

my guess is that this was to set him up as an example for all the other dumb people, similar to how class action suits work

I have fond memories of heading up to Punchbowl with someone who passed in 2020, and can’t go back and remember them. I feel ya, it’s tough.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It was reopened like two years ago. Punchbowl looks very different though. The hill on the far side collapsed.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Good to know, I think the last time I checked was September 2021 and it was still closed off at the trailhead.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think they opened it briefly and shut it back down again because the hillside by the freeway was unstable
