Sorry if the images are shite quality, life of the repost.

Front page edit

Does anyone actually get nudes?

The big problem is that the law does not require any official cert, and there is no regulation of service vests, etc.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I actually met the guy. Pretty cool dude. He works as a consultant to help increase accessibility in websites. Definitely knows his stuff.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its this sort of misleading information that bothers me. I have a service honey badger that is trained to approach people and murder them.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me: Who’s a good boooyyyy?! Service dog: Sir, Please step away from my human.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Don't believe teen bullshit on Tumblr? Ok.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The sort of thing people on the internet wring their hands over but will never actually happen to them

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Service dog/animal does not equal emotional support dog/animal..one is protected by law, the other..not so much.

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

(1) Thanks for posting this, I’m disabled but don’t have a service dog yet. I know many who do and there are many mistruths

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

(2) especially with the rise of support animals which are nothing like a service dog, completely different things

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Owner loses control of dog, dog runs away unprompted and harasses a stranger. Yep, sounds like a well trained service dog to me.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is how antivaxxers spread. Dumb entitled middle class people with a blog posting things they know nothing about.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

What's that Lassie? Timmy fell down a well? Fuck off, Lassie!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My old dog once came to me barking, very loudly and signaling me to a particular direction. Her puppy was bitten and bleeding heavily

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Even so though if one did come up to me I probably wouldn’t want to risk it in case this was one that was trained wrong like that

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And by ‘risk it’ I mean ignoring the dog and risking the possibility that a person is actually in trouble

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Molly Burke has some great videos about service dogs and so do Drew and Stella! Would recommend!

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

But he is not an expert. He is a consumer that uses one.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 8

He's an unusually involved user, but a healthy dose of skepticism is wise. Call a service or two that trains dogs to (in)validate.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

"I have been involved in service dog legislations"

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

A REAL service dog is trained to perform open heart surgery right there on the spot if a person collapses.

7 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 2

Don’t accept substitutes!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

"Believe everything you see on the internet" - Abraham Lincoln, 1943. Also, how does this guy know her dog got rejected?

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

I think he meant the dog breed was rejected as being a viable service animal.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

The girl said so in the original post. "She was swatting him away and telling him to go away."

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

That was the person her dog went to go get (supposedly), not a certification person.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I used to work at a zoo and legally we had to allow in service dogs and the number of totally bullshit ESAs was insane. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

While I was there we had an emotional support iguana, some chihuahuas (in cutesy clothes instead of vests), a boa, and a very upset cat 2/3

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The ESAs hassled real service animals, and frequently broke the rules on where they were allowed and caused issues with our animals. 3/3

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If they're dumb enough to say it's an ESA, you can refuse them entry with animal. ESA are not covered by the ADA.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True, but the zoo is super concerned about law suits, complaints, and bad press, so we had to deal with awful ESAs

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Twitter is the worst format for anything

7 years ago | Likes 61 Dislikes 1

When twitter debuted I didn't think it was as good as blogs because it isn't a good format for conversation. I was both wrong and right.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except for presidential proclamations and policy announcements. Apparently.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Almost as bad as imgur comments

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fake service dogs? Are there really people who are that ignorant or fucked up trying to pull that shit?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They claim they are emotional support animals. The issue is the law. Staff don't feel confident questioning people because of ADA protection

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a nurse, people bring their dogs into our hospital all the time with fake vests. Had a coworker get bit in the face by one

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People pull that scam all the time, so they can take their dogs into grocery stores, theaters, free seating on planes....the system is ripe

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

for abuse, and as such, is very heavily abused. I call for a national system for identifying true service animals, with heavy fines for

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

those caught misusing it.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

And the vests and "certificates" are easily available. Some stores, etc are very specific in their wording of their signs, that it must be a

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

service animal, not emotional support, etc. Real service animals also don't ride in grocery carts!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I knew all a long Lassie should had stayed with little Timmy at the well.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I'm sick and tired of everything bringing their dogs into stores claiming the're a service dog. The dog in your purse is not a service dog.

7 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 3

Small dogs also are trained to detect low blood sugar, being portable means they are held close so they can smell when sugar level drops.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That being said most of the pocket dogs are untrained yippers that people think of as a damn child.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Small dogs are often trained to detect seizures.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

at the grocery store I work at we had a woman put her "service dog" on the conveyor belt where groceries and food go. Yeah not cool lady.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

My bro-in-law has an “emotional support” dog. He doesn’t need it, he just likes bringing his dog everywhere.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

ESA aren't covered by ADA. And definitely doesn't cover residences. Give him the boot!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best part is, we told him he couldn’t bring the dog to our house (our terriers wouldn’t go for it) and he said we need to board *our* dogs -

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

for a couple days - I told him he needs to find somewhere else to stay. Some people’s whole universe stops 2’ in front of their face.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah if you trip over and your service dog immediately runs away, it's a pretty shitty service dog.

7 years ago | Likes 917 Dislikes 7

"Oh shit... uh. I DIDNT DO IT."

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what if he's taking bets on how many times a day you'll trip?

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

What do I tell the lady with the "service" chihuahua?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Be cautious here. They are under no obligation to answer and if you're working, they can sue. The law is broken.

At least in US, you cant ask what service they provide, if they claim service dog versus ESA. Considered confidential medical information

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

bearnet is right. It must be trained to perform specific tasks. "It helps with my anxiety" doesn't count. "It provides pressure if needed"ok

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Even this doesn't necessarily qualify an animal as a service animal.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're not legally allowed to ask what disease/illness they help with, only what tasks they perform.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Cant even ask what tasks. Can follow up with a service dog or emotional support animal question though, and hope to catch them in lie.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also, something I've heard that's a good tell: four on the floor. If the dog is being carried/in a purse, *typically* not a service animal.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, she's nuts

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

"My dog and I are routinely agressed by dogs wearing service vests" .. maybe this is a larger issue where he is, but here, in the cities

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

and towns local, as well as in the interior of BC I have yet to see an uncontrolled dog with a service vest. That said, it is concerning

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

that people mislabel their animals thus, because the public needs a standard expectation of their behavior to give them access (to stores

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Yeah yeah, in Canada even the dogs are polite. You respect rules that benefit everyone. You live in a utopia. We get it.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

People mislabel their dogs all the time to be able to take them everywhere. It's actually quite stupid if there was to be an accident.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

for instance), and you cant guarantee that standard where people train them, themselves.

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Is there a reason not to follow the dog if that happened though?

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

It could be an elaborate ruse to rob you...Muuhahahahahahaa!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 4

If the dog leads you to a windowless van, it's a trap.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Its not like the dog says "hey follow me, this way!" he's just pawing at you maybe low growling. I would be wondering why too.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It might be a "regular" dog trying to fetch help for their owner. Maybe a family dog that saw a child get hurt. Would follow.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

What if ?

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I don't like dogs and have been attacked by both "trained" dogs and strays. If a random dogs appears out of nowhere and starts jumping and>

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

barking at me, with no owner in sight, I'm much more likely to take that as aggression than I am to realize I need to follow it.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

attacked or "attacked" ? and have you tried liking dogs instead?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

Attacked. A friend of mine also got disfigured for life in her childhood, by a dog. I plain don't like them. If you do, that's fine, but>

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

2. they're animals and if in public, they should be under their owner's control. I've seen enough dogs that were supposedly "trained">

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

3. snap that I get genuinely mad when a dog jumps at me and I hear "oh it's just playing/ saying hi". Yeah I don't know that for sure and>

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

4. I don't give a fuck, it's not my animal and I don't want it on me.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

well that sucks

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm going to be really embarrassed if I see a third PSA later telling me the second guy is getting service dogs completely wrong.

7 years ago | Likes 2165 Dislikes 6

He sure seems to be sitting a lot during the training.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work in a very specialized industry. I frequently have people on the internet correct me, who talk out of their ass.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

there is, actually. Can't find it but OP has a seizure disorder and sensory issues so she can't have the dog barking beside her

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

especially as she's waking up + disoriented. also they were in a store, the dog was the next aisle over and not "blocks away"

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not completely wrong, but wrong in some regards, like the leash thing. A service dog doesn't have to be on a leash if it makes them 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unable to perform their tasks or worsens their handlers disability 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's possible that maybe - just maybe - we shouldn't be learning, or especially not acting upon, anything from Twitter.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll call 911 everytime I see a service dog just to be safe.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's still not properly sourced

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean if youre concerned maybe talk to someone IRL, instead of some randos on the interwebs. Call a local vet or some shit lol

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don't worry I'll correct them later but it will turn out I'm actually more wrong than every one else

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

He is. There is no such thing as an official service animal in the US. There's no regulatory agency or official certification process.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

There are a few laws that can get people if their service animal misbehaves or isn't trained at all, but it's hard to prosecute them.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So everything he said about how a service animal should act is just opinion, not a rule or law.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm here to correct the 6th guy, so I'm hanging out till then.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh no, I correct the bus driver.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WHAT BUS DRIV- *gets corrected*

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They should all get in a conference call and sort it out, so we can upvote the right things and then make inappropriate jokes about it.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

I know, right? It almost makes me want to go and do actual research... almost

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

List of what dog should and not do I found interesting. Maybe you will too! https://www.anythingpawsable.com/things-service-dogs-public/

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That was an interesting read! Also followed the lino about the different types of service dogs and I had no idea there were so many! Cool!

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I dunno, I have a customer who has seizure's and his GS is trainee to get help. It ignores everyone but his owner, but has no leash.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well, he did get online and use "know" instead of "no". That completely invalidates his point, right?

7 years ago | Likes 94 Dislikes 2

I think the word fits right there.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 6

It doesnt.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Know it doesn't.

7 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

It's the internet. That guy is out there, and he can't wait to share his opinion...

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

every "guy" is out there with an opinion... there like assholes everybody has one.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

And then they post oictures of them to imgur

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If only everybody would post it in udersub :(

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

In my book, you've won the Internet today.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He's completely wrong. MY service dog is trained to do my taxes and get my groceries. Also it can bake a mean risotto.

7 years ago | Likes 1189 Dislikes 1

But is the risotto good enough for chef Ramsey?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Can he make a mean puttanesca sauce?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My service dog actually served 3 terms in Iraq with 80 confirmed kills, longest range of 750 yds standard issue M24

7 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

I thank you, service dog, for your service to the country

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

So... is your dog single?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Hey... don’t call your wife a dog...

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Oh hell yeah, that's legit!!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ugh. Sorry to hear it. Can you ask for one that makes something better than dinner porridge?

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Now that's what I call service!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

All service dogs are trained to bake a mean risotto. There's nothing special about your dog.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

When can I come for supper?

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Sorry, service dogs are actually extremely untrustworthy and my service dog killed that guy.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

are there emotional supper dogs?

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

1. Service dog rules in the U.S. are given by executive regulation, not legislation. 2. Claim that a dog would stay with its owner is false;

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

plenty of service dogs are trained to go get help exactly as the girl described. 3. Further evidence that the guy is talking out his ass is

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

That the U.S. regulations specifically allow for service dogs to break the "under owner's control" rule when their work or task requires it,

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Example given is a PTSD owner who needs their animal to move forward into a room, clear it, and return to signal the room is safe to enter.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

What works for this guy's dog does not work for all service dogs. 4. Nothing in U.S. law declares that an owner cannot train their own dog;

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

I used to train service dogs and he's not entirely right. Some of the issues he mentions are real, but he is generalizing about some things.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

1."Service" dog approaches you. 2. You follow serice dog to a van beneath the overpass. 3. You wake up in sex dungeon with no kidneys.

7 years ago | Likes 230 Dislikes 0

If you are not bringing this to Dragon's Den, then I will.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just like Charlie the Unicorn

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Where do I meet the service dog?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

at the service station

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the dog is still providing a valuable service to someone that isn't you

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

1. The whole “buying vests online” thing is a con and drives me nuts. People w/ high anxiety would bring their “service” dogs to outpatient

7 years ago | Likes 386 Dislikes 4

Emotional support animals and service animals aren't the same thing, and because there's no real infrastructure, lots of people exploit it.

7 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

This. I work travel for people in entertainment. Half of them have "emotional support animals," so they can get them on the flight with them

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's such a con. Half the dogs aren't house broken and will bite people. They get these certificates from quack vets and ruin it for all.

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

In a different post I mentioned that the vests are more likely to be cons than legit and got downvoted to oblivion.

7 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 2

Here is an upvote for your inconvenience

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna guess that was done by people with fake service dogs.

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Just ask to see if their “service dog” has an actual ID, w/ a certification on it and should say from whom. I.E. CCI

7 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

You aren't legally allowed to ask that information. insane.

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I help assist in training dogs for CCI and must be misinformed then but have never worked in hospitality before so I do apologize for giving

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A suggestion

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at a hotel. The ADA (americans with disabilities act) states we are only allowed to ask two questions. 1. Is that a service dog and

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

2. What service are they trained to provide

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

What happens if the "service" it provides is blatantly idiotic, ie its evidently not a service dog?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We literally cant do shit. Theres been times where people will bring their "service dogs" in dog strollers. We cant do shit

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

In the USA, there is no certification body for service animals and thus no formal ID to be had.

7 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

You are wrong my dear sir. There is no official emotional support registration but there is for professionally trained service dogs.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Okay, I'll set aside my 25 years of raising guide dogs and admit I'm wrong if you name that registry.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well, I had no idea you had experience. You are a random internet person. I was going by information my sister was given when she registered

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2. And the damn things would growl at other people the whole time. Didn’t do much help for OTHER people with anxiety or other disorders.

7 years ago | Likes 291 Dislikes 1

I had a neighbor once with a super aggressive German Shepherd with a vest. It acted like a guard dog but wore a service dog vest.

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Its service was protecting the house duh

7 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

I work security for an airport and I see all kinds of dogs with vests every day. This guys not lying about it being a serious issue.

7 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I work in F&B and we are not allowed to ask. They have to demonstrate inappropriate behavior first before we can ask to have them leave.

7 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

And service ponies are a thing

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

That I believe in and don’t see being much of a problem, since they’re not so easy to transport

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So are service pigs

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

People do this to bring their dogs into stores too. If I see aggressive behavior in my store, I ask them to take their dog outside.

7 years ago | Likes 109 Dislikes 0

No service dog will act like that.

7 years ago | Likes 65 Dislikes 0

Yeah some lady brought her boxer into the pharmacy and it tried “playing” w/ my 4-yo and ended up scaring the shit out of her

7 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

4-yo ok otherwise?

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Oh yeah it took her a little while to warm up to big dogs again but she still gets nervous around them, understandably so

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Some lady brought her "service dog" into the pharmacy I used to work at and it pissed all over the floor... She didn't even acknowledge it

7 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Pretty clear to me. If a service dogs behaves like that, it's either fake or defective. Or still in training. Either way, not allowed inside

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Wait they have detective service dogs???

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I think dogs in training are actually allowed. Not certain though. Does anyone know?

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It varies by state, and there may be a minimum dog age. In my state SDiTs have the same rights as a fully trained service dog. (SC)

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What I know is that you cant ask beyond "is that a service animal". If the individual says yes, you gotta let them be.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Nope. According to the ADA, service dogs in training are not considered service dogs and are not afforded the same privileges or protections

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

If it's in training it's not a service animal yet.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

When in public my dog ignores people & most other dogs, but I rarely take him out because of how other dogs act & I dont need that shit.

7 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

I went to the store the other day and this woman had a dog with the vest, but I kept seeing the dog wandering a bit towards diff things, 1/?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Like the woman was standing still (dog had a leash too) and started to sniff towards a kid’s legs (kid was in the basket) and she yanked 2/?

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

The dog back towards her. Tbh I ended up running into her a few times and she always had to yank the dog closer to her. Now idk how 3/?

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Plus other owners who yell at their dog as it freaks out only making the situation worse.

7 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

This. A lot. This.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This mentions a important fact. Service dogs are WORKING. Don't pet them or treat them like a cute doggo. They're not the same as a pet!

7 years ago | Likes 662 Dislikes 16

I learned this in kindergarten.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If I see a service or police dog I ask the handler if I can pet the dog, usually they have a routine the dog has to follow before a pat

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

7 years ago | Likes 40 Dislikes 0

I work with 2 service dogs. I have to wait for the good girls to get to their office and "take a break" for I can give loves and boops.

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Yet when I say this about food dogs in Korea. I'm the assholes.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

But boshintang is so tasty!

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I know. I've had it.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

*sneakily pets your dog when you're not looking*

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 18

Just don't do it mate

7 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

If it's a service dog on duty you are potentially putting someone at risk by doing that.

7 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

i'm... surprisingly ok with that

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 8

*Don't pet service dogs while wearing the vest/gear. On/off tells the dog if it's work time or play time. Or so I've read. On Tumblr. Yeah.

7 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 3

That is correct.

A friend of my parents is blind and has two service dogs, one retired and one active. In his home they act completely like any other dog.

7 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

It's exactly the same with the Service Dog's owner too.

7 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The funny thing is that if you approach a cute human and scratch its ears, most people would understand how inappropriate that sounds & is.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Best practice: ask the owner before petting a dog. Even if it isn't a service dog, it might be aggressive or easily frightened.

7 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 0

If your animal is aggressive or easily frightened, it has no business being in a service vest, but points to always checking with handler.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's best practice for any dog, ever.
