What's so weird about adults in fandoms? Some fandoms are so old now that the kids in them grew up.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, stop being mean to my weird ass!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

TLDR; Don't be a dick.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stay weird

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you're only going to give respect and empathy to a person once they give you a Good Reason, you are not a good person. Work on yourself.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

If not for furries the internet would Collapse in on itself from lack of code maintence.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

A necessary evil

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I still haven’t figured out if I’m on the spectrum or just weird.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

As a lifelong non-autistic (AFAIK) oddball, I approve this message.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It's not complicated. Be honest and speak your truth, but be nice about it. Don't tease, bully, or mock people. That's asshole behavior.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

This is a funny comment because telling the truth is what gets autistic people into trouble the most.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Truth and honesty are dangerous in a diseased system. We have to fix this, or US civilization will die. No hyperbole.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Being autistic is not a get-out-of-jail-free card to behaving like an asshole. Lots of behavior that is due to autism is not okay. That

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

doesn't mean you shouldn't be more acceptable of "weird" behavior, but it is *not* the case that you should accept ALL behavior just because

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it might be autistic.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I can't believe we live in a world where we have to told "Be nice to everyone" I've never understood why people pick on or bully people.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Honestly, that's how all societies police themselves. Animals nip at their own young to make them behave. Same concept with humans.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I love how adults being in fandoms is considered weird when it's children being in fan spaces that's new and abnormal lmao.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Some of those weird things are hard for others to be around. They can bring on trauma and anxiety. I love people. But it's not as easy as...

3 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 6

It's not like people with ASD can help it, but they are always expected to change. What a terrible perspective and incredibly ableist.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 6

Hey everyone be you all together and that's OK and if not OK the naysayers is a problem. We do need context to help understand each other...

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 2

Knowing why someone is banging chairs around and it isn't dangerous and they won't hurt you Helps. It's removes the connection to ptsd...

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 2

It isn't explaining anything away to give context of why they do it. It's trying to communicate in ways that we all understand each other

3 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 2

People may exploit that. But lots have different things going on are scared of being exposed for it seeming weird. Cos it is. So I suppose..

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 2

IMHO whether we know the why or not the only answer is to be as mindful as you can and try not to be a dick.

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 2

This is probably the comment closest to the truth. Unfortunately it gets really meta because to explain it I'd have to hurt the feelings 1/

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

Of neurotypical people. Being autistic means seeing people's self reinforcing flaws and being powerless to do anything about it. 2/2

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

Autistic woman here: the moment you believe that you are powerless to change your own influence than that is the moment you give up on 1/

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

5/ my diagnose, entered therapy for my childhood trauma and started to establish boundaries. People respond well to stable and predictable

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I didn't get my diagnosis till recentlyish, throughout school I was treated terribly because people noticed I guess. But I don't know why

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4/ interact with neurodiverse folks. I found that it became easier to interact with the people around me when I started to fully embrace

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

3/ dont *know* this either, they just respond to neurotypicals in a way that neurotypicals expect. Which is why they clash the moment they

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

2/ yourself. It is hard to become aware of ones selves and understand how our actions influence our environment. Neurotypical people

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

6/ people. And yes, that is hard work and yes, it sucks.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

The thing is that becoming self aware was what allowed me to notice self unawareness in nts and when you point this out they get insecure 1/

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I think being self aware is independent of nt/nd & more just any individual's perceptiveness but yes sadly we can't often change others.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You can't have an accepting culture around neurodiversity and mental health and ALSO have "cringe" as a source of entertainment.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"It's okay if they are autistic." No, it's not an excuse! They don't understand what is 'normal' or socially acceptable. You can tell them.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

I think the idea is that you can at least attempt to tell them kindly, rather than just assuming that they should be insulted out of it.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Of course, but in my case, people have snapped at me for using autism as an excuse while it is not.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Oh, my misunderstanding. That makes sense.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Living with your parents in your 30s is not 'weird'. That concept was invented by banks to milk families for more loans and mortgages

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Seems a little mean to call people who live at home weird when everything is so extremely expensive.

3 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 2

The whole point is shitting on any of these people is mean

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Yeah with wealth inequality and housing getting so bad it's totally reasonable to live at home at any age.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

It did make sense during that small window of time where the average person could afford houses.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Ok, but do I have to respect people who take astrology actually seriously? Cause I struggle...

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Astrology is any more respectable than any religion I don't follow?? If you Believe that weird shit, I'll struggle to be more than polite.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

I have a friend who took the deep dive into Astrology. He's known me for over 40 years. Don't ask me my signs, Tell me, if you are an expert

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

Is it still okay to be mean to Nazis?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yes and its expected.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

back in the 70s, we just called "those" people weird and left them alone to find their own group to hang with.

3 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 32

No, you REALLY didn't. LOTS of abuse, ostracizing, and bullying until they conformed or they died.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Back in the 70s, you were a dick. Have you improved any since then?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

You say that like bullying's something that was invented in 1997 or something.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Funny you should say that. I've heard different from people who got the absolute shit beat out of them at lunch every day for being dweebs.

3 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Nah, you bullied them until they committed suicide or faked who they were and made themselves miserable.

3 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 12

So like current year?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

TBH,, I find the current school generation a lot more tolerant of neurodivergence and general non-conformism, though of familiar sorts.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I graduated in 2018 and gay kids were harassed like crazy. People would make posters and pass them around making fun of weird kids. 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most of that crowd is super LGBTQ+ friendly now so at least college changed them but children will always be influenced by their families.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nope Everyone had their own clique back in the 70s. Jocks, freaks, nerds, band, drama, tweaks, DND, plus about a dozen more. Just left alone

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 43

Nice rose colored glasses there, bud. Do I need to start digging out the sources, or are you going to admit you're wrong?

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Maybe OrkenMork got lucky with his/her/xir school?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Unlikely. Title 9 was only enacted in '72. It was still a horrific time to not be a neurotipical straight white man.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

That's like a major form of bullying... I can tell you that finding "their own group" is basically impossible so they isolate or change.

3 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 7

In the 70s when a kid acted really weird, he was legitimately left alone...not bullied, just given a wide berth. His choice though.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 37

I can't seem to find anything to back this claim up but even if it was true anecdotal evidence aside that's still actively avoiding them?

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

I was there. I was part of it. Heck, I even got the captain of the football team expelled for punching me. Preferred didn't take him b'cause

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 23

It's always tricky tho. If you find a person's quirks grating, you shouldn't performatively fake friendship just to "be an ally".

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I get this totally, but you can still be friendly and treat them as another person and not just avoid them like they're diseased.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

literally nobody said that though? the original post just said "don't bully people for being weird". how hard is that?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and a following comment said that leaving them to "find their own group" is a form of bullying

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What are stargender and neopronouns?

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 2

People who say they're gender based on their mood and make up pronouns, like /self.

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

They're the annoying part of the LGBT demographic. Special little snowflakes who needs to be recognized for their uniqueness.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

C3PO / toaster

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Certainly nothing I'll ever use with a straight face.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No idea on the first, but neopronouns is a term to refer to pronouns outside of the standard he/she/they

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Where and how exactly is "they" NOT inclusive? It's a universal plural?

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Weirdly, xhi and xir predate the common acceptance of they as a nonbinary singular. Some people are more comfortable with it still

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Boss, Xe was made in like the 70s. Shakespeare used they as a singular hundreds of years ago. Let people use the pronouns they want but that

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

To be stargendered you don't actually need to have star genitals, just identify as the someone with star genitals.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

Each time I piss I unleash a supernova knocking out all electronics in a square mile with the resulting EMP

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

BTW can you not do that? Keeps knocking out my wifi.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They're catch-alls for all the "made-up" genders and pronouns (unlike he/she and male/female which aren't socially constructed at all!)

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 9

Jokes. I assume.

3 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 14

Keep that ignorance safe.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 20

Wot, lad?

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

A hyperbole

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

neopronouns are the ones like xir. New pronouns, rather than using existing ones like they/them.

3 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

Respect is the default. Disrespect is earned.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

Tolerance is the default. Respect is earned.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Incorrect

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Making jokes at people is fine, just don't get personal. Someone's fat? You don't mock the fat. Someone dresses weird? You don't mock it.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But humor is a thing for a reason. Just don't hurt people with it. If both sides aren't laughing, it wasn't a joke.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Worked with a 400lb guy for years. Nonody ever made a fat joke. He got laughed at instead because he had ZERO filter.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He wasn't hurt by it. He would say things like "I totally pulled a Tim this morning", and would tell us how. That's humor done right.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Only truly shitty people go for the obvious. Where's the challenge If? Like, if you make fat jokes, you're probably not a great person.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So...furry are autistic now? Thats seems...offensive?

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Not one and the same no, but more likely to be. Autistic people are less likely to follow social rules for the sake of the rules

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Like the other guy said, anecdotally, the vast majority of furries I've met are either diagnosed with ASD/have a lot of behavior in common.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh no, I'm not allowed to be annoyed or dislike things I find cringy. /s. If you naruto run, you definitely deserve to be on blast.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 10

It's always hard to say where the line is between "you should accept people" and "a bit of bullying is necessary".

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

What does "naruto", mean?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lean forward arms behind like in the anime Naruto.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It looks like you have a lot on your mind.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 8

Here's the issue... I don't have to respect anyone, just like they don't have to respect me. I still have the right to call someonea /1

3 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

Fucking idiot and likewise, they have the right to do the same to me. I just have to accept them as they are.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

I can't see myself calling anyone an idiot because of odd behavior/ speech/ clothes. Poor driving, rudeness, etc. I make an exception.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well poor driving and errant behavior could be explained by ADHD, autism, or other mental conditions

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You may be right. But I think you shouldn't have a license if you regularly go without using a turn signal.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh I thoroughly agree

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think the internet has helped people embrace weirdness. Weird/absurd humor, niche interests, small but dedicated forums about whatever.

3 years ago | Likes 235 Dislikes 2

It has helped people embrace their own weirdness, not those of others. Big fucking difference.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

in the same way alot of ignorant ppl. get to see even more weird things they dont understand and be afraid of and can hate. which is more?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes like Q.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes. It also viciously mocks them, and has communities dedicated to either be weird or attack weird people.

3 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 1

The internet is both the transcendence of humanity and it's greatest cesspool

3 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

I wonder if they said the same for the telephone, tv or the printing press.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Printing press, definitely. I think people thought the phone was a weird fad. TV just roted your brain

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

the most vicious mockery tends to come from within the fandom, and be of collect self deprecation though.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 8

Primus sucks

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it isn't. I don't mean just fandoms, I mean there's literally entire subreddits dedicated to insulting people, like fatpeoplehate.

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

And where might i find these hate-boards--you know, so I can set my Hacktivist friends on their coded asses & tear them an eternal new one?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 5

I'm... pretty sure that's illegal and difficult to do, esp if it's reddit, since you can't selectively shut down a single sub. 1/

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I got my ASD diagnosis at 36. I didn’t change but everyone around me could suddenly adapt. I make a point out of never alienating someone.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My friend (adult) was recently diagnosed as autistic. He now blames everything on that, quits anything hard and uses it as as excuse.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Maybe you see it that way. Asd has to constantly adapt and it can cause discourse when you stop doing “acting” to fit in.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*discord

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish he as never diagnosed, being a "little wierd" was way better.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1. For me it was for the better. It went from ”why cant you just..” to realisation that i cant or i have to take different approach

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2. Also a lot of discovery for me that there’s a reason why some situations are high stress for me and not for others and not a failure.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Hey, don't call thirtysomethings who live with their parents weird in THIS economy. Or at least don’t lump them in with furries!

3 years ago | Likes 443 Dislikes 26

Exactly, furries tend to have way more money for a start

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Indeed! Those are two distinct sub-species with intricate and deep effects and relationships on both each other and the wider ecosystem!

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hey, I resemble both those remarks!

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right? It's just good financial sense to live in a multigenerational home. Luckily it's normal in my culture. Expected.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Eh. I don’t see the big deal about furries. Who cares? As long as everything is consensual.

3 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 4

I'd say maybe it's cause there is nothing that would pass the Harkness test in reality. Even though loli hentai is legal, it's not healthy.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Granted, but being a furry does not mean you are a bestiality practitioner. As per the loli bit, if it helps you get off, relieve stress, 1/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and you are still attracted to real humans, it’s probably fine. Failing that, you might want to see a sex therapist.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

1]I think kink & fetish-play centered around cutesy cartoons specifically styled to be appealing/safe/friendly toward children should be

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

2] kept far and away from impressionable kids. Kinks & fetishes are developed with exposure; this would be uncomfortably close to grooming.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

Ive got bad news for you regarding where these adults with kinks came from (hint: they were often horny kids watching wholesome things)

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Kinks are developed based on the circumstances surrounding your sexual awakening. A kid who was hitting their stride in puberty in, say, 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

the early 90's, could be "exposed to" such unwholesome content as the entire Disney Afternoon television block, which is an infamous 2/3

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And does not involve children.

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 4

Children cannot consent

3 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Or actual animals.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Remember, that's zoophilia and is something completely distinct from being a furry.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

As the other guy expressed, the overlap between furries and zoophiles is a lot higher than the overlap between zoophiles and normies.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

but unfortunately often related

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

You say that like furries are bad?

3 years ago | Likes 87 Dislikes 19

Thirtysomethings living with their parents don't go to cons and leave their dirty diapers lying around everywhere.

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 36

Some gay people are gross and unhygienic. Therefore, gay people as a group are bad. See how stupid that sounds? You almost get it.

3 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 29

To make this clearer since people did not read past the first sentence: any sufficiently large group has members that suck. Don't judge a

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Group by the shittiness of its worst members.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

In my personal experience, a majority of furries I've met are bad people or repulsively weird. Ofc I've met some cool ones too, though.

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 6

The only cool ones i've met went to kid hospitals in fursuit to cheer up the kids. Those lads were awesome.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean they pay artists well but i've yet to run into one that didn't mildly push their kink onto others so.... yeah.

3 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 16

Well time to change that. Hello!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You left out the major pushy ones

3 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Some gay people push their sexuality on others. Therefore gay people are as a group bad. See how stupid that sounds? You almost get it then.

3 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 35

Don't see why you're getting downvoted, you clearly have a message of acceptance there, it's like people aren't even reading what you wrote.

3 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

They read the first few words and checked out. Reading is hard I guess.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Sure but there's a noticeable pattern with furries, really any fetish tbh, where they push their stuff into inappropriate situations.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Heard that same argument regarding race, gender, and sexuality. Just judge people on a case by case basis. Don't judge a group by its worst.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Kinks and fetishes are not identities. Don't compare them as if they are.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

Wasn't. Read the whole comment next time.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

He didn't, he said some people in a group acting overbearing doesn't excuse having negative feelings towards the group as a whole. He could>

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

1) Would you even know someone was a furry if they didn't mention it?

3 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 18

2) Also, what exactly qualifies as 'pushing their kink onto others'?

3 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 19

3) Also, are you saying that being a furry is a kink, or that furries push their kinks onto other people?

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 16

The number of furries who you'd never guess were furries is MUCH higher than you think. Most of them stay quiet about it.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, the ones who fetishize it are a minority. Most furries are just interested in the artwork and the community.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Been one for twenty years or so. Been a fair number of people who don't believe that I am one, because I don't bug people with it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Furry here. I've been leveraging the constant supply of reliable roommates to own my own house. No parental living for me.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 9

Good for you. Sincerely.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Heh. I've actually never lived on my own, really... I moved out at 18, I'm 35 now. Had furry roomies that whole time.

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

It's just a thing I do well, even before I had my own house. Gather up 3 or 4 of us, and be the leader of household.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

One moves out, another moves in, lather rinse repeat.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Its a shame you're getting downvoted especially on THIS post. Furries have been one of the sweetest groups I've ever been around!

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Any time I type anything with 'furry' in it, there's about a 25% chance it's going to pull some red arrows regardless of what's in it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sadly:( that's the internet, eh, easier to push the button without thinking. Well here's an internet rando telling you to keep being weird:)

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The entire reason we're furries in the first place is because fuck the haters. ;)

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*shrug* Oh well.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm completely fine with that as long as we can continue to discriminate against people who like their steaks well-done.

3 years ago | Likes 844 Dislikes 47

I have a medical condition and undercooked meats including fish could be fatal. Fully cooked salmon sucks but it's the only way I can eat it

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Well-done steak is the only true way

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 6

No, the people who put milk in before the cereal for their first bowl.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A slow cooked marinated steak is far better than eating a still bleeding cow.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Had food poisoning as a kid, and after, it was the only way I could eat steaks. Getting better about pink, but now I can't afford steak

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Love a well done steak

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 3

you cant, they're autisteak

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's better than just drinking raw blood directly out of a smooshy meat sponge

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

Or worse than well done: Congratulation

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

My ancestors didn't evolve from apes, and didn't tame the fire, and didn't invent thermal treatment of food for me just to spit on their 1/2

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Legacy and in the souls and hearts of thousands of people before me and eat meat raw. They said - if you want to eat your meat fully 2/3

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Cooked, right down to its very core, it's your right as a Homo Fucking Sapiens, and we support your decision. We're all free to eat our 3/4

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

Damn steaks in any damn degree of doneness and not be judged for it, that's what I say! /end

3 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

Woah, this is a straight up war here. By the way, I am the token vegetarian/vegan that sneers at your heathen asses.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It really depends on the kind of steak. Well done is ok for some of them. They're not all meant to be served rare.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'll agree with that, if it has a lot of marbling it needs some time and heat, I don't like chewy fat. Sous vide is a way to cheat though.

There's a difference between well-done and overcooked. Just that making a proper well-done steak is beyond most people's culinary skills, so

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

many think that a well-done steak is an overcooked steak.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If it's not rare, it's overcooked.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Thank you, my dude. I needed a laugh today

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Newly pregnant, and apparently we are supposed to eat all meat well done! Will be embarrassed to ask, at least until I’m showing

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just politely but firmly ask them to leave.

3 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

Most of the people that say this like their meat bleeding and cold. No thanks.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Caveat. Define “steak”. Salisbury Steaks should not count.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Meaning, they should absolutely be cooked through.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Would you change your mind if it was revealed that there was a strong correlation between well done steak preference and autism?

3 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 5

Nah there's gotta be a line

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It's all just memes. I don't actually care how people like their steak.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A properly cooked well done steak that isn't shoe leather is a hard thing to accomplish and I doubt most people have ever had one.

3 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

It's actually quite insane how much work goes into making a good well done steak that is juicy and flavorful still but not pink inside.

3 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

And that is why absolute psychopaths order them at chain restaurants.

3 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 1

I can't imagine ordering it anywhere else. It's something really niche and takes a lot of practice to get done right.

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cooking low with a lid over it works pretty well, if you happen to have one of those people to cook for, I used to.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No one ever has.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 7

Oh yes they have, and they're fucking magically delicious.

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

It can be done pretty painlessly with a sous vide cooker

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Basically you never touch the meat other than to flip it once and to take it off. Also needs a basting liquid, I like olive oil to spoon on.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

On a grill I've seen people take apple cidar in a bottle and spray it onto the meat as it grills to help keep it from drying out

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No. Even autistic people can be wrong.

3 years ago | Likes 143 Dislikes 4

As a father of an autistic person. Oh yes... They so much can... BUT HE EATS HIS STEAK. MEDIUM RARE.

3 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

Borderline, but within acceptable parameters.

I like steaks well done with ketchup. Maybe even mayo too.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Braised in Tostinos mild cheddar dip is the Superior steak cooking method

I feel like if you have to eat a well-done steak, ketchup might be your best hope of not choking on it.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like ketchup on steak bombs and roast beef sandwiches, is that also bad?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the fuck?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about if I only use ketchup on well done steaks cause at least I'll get some flavor out of it? Med-rare is my go to but sometimes you-

3 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

just gotta eat the food in front of you.

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Acceptable, but you will have to eat a med-rare steak with no ketchup on it to prove it. And any complaints about it getting stuck in...

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...your teeth will result in you being judged and found wanting.

Ketchup is good as a condiment or as a base for sauces. Just don't drown your food in it.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What if the food is bad and I don't want to taste it?

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I guess you can drown it in your preferred liquid, though I suppose a stupidly hot sauce would be better for that. Those tend to overpower

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

all flavors anyway. RIPieces your asshole though.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What if I just don't like steak altogether?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be thinking of a stake, have you checked for a reflection?

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Acceptable - not liking something is one thing. Committing a ketchup based hate crime is another...

3 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Get the fuck outta here. People do that? Of fucking course people do. Its got to be the only way to choke down a well done steak.

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ketchup is the single greatest condiment there is and it's umami flavors pair perfectly with steak .....I will die on this hill

3 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 22

Let's just nuke the entire hill from orbit.

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then you will die weak, and forgotten, and your bloodline with thank you for it

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes but the 30+% SUGAR does NOT

3 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then die

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm here to take shifts on that hill if you got hungry whilst standing there

3 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 10

I heard there was a line for steaks covered in ketchup here?

3 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

Yeah it start down the corner and too the left.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

3 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Well I hope you're happy dying wrong

3 years ago | Likes 73 Dislikes 1

I respect your opinion, but you'll have to respect mine that you're not welcome in my house. Steak shouldn't need sause, ever.

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To play devils advocate, the poster never said the steak NEEDED sauce, just that it paired well WITH this sauce. They aren't suggesting -/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Steak is inedible unless it has ketchup, just that the already great flavor of steak is increased by ketchup. Personally I rarely use -/

3 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How is the steak cooked?

3 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's not even well done anymore...it's congratulations at this point.

3 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Med-rare to medium I prefer medium as the fat renders out a little more but well done is intact the true crime

3 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mmmmm........
