I did it. Used money from work. Put off my loan about a month or two to not paying as much extra for three months. Totally worth it.

Some colleges make it mandatory and foot some of the bill (goucher college is one of them)

Inb4 "Oh it's super cheep! You can easily travel the world at less than $4,000/month! Just ask your parents to advance some trust fund cash"

I got college loans....worked 2 jobs and saved most of my money. Used most of it to travel as a graduation present to myself.

Community college because I get the same first 2 years of education for like <10% the price

Letsee... OH yeah, Fuck ton of hard work. Cabinet making while doing 15 credit hours a semester. Plus delivering some pizza, and tutoring.

They're the dumbasses with $100,000 student loans by junior year.

They also have adult exchange programs. Get involved with your community programs and clubs.

My parents were wealthy yet I didn't get to travel the world but my friend was more middle class and he did. So, different circumstances

I've paid for 3 years of schooling and my trip on my own. Mom let me live on and off with her and I lived pretty basic till I got back.

Budgeting your ass off, being comfortable sleeping in hostels or on floors, using grocery stores to eat instead of restaurants (1/2)

Taking longer but cheaper trains, walking/biking instead of buses, using cheap airlines (Norwegian.com has cheap transatlantic flights)

Also, I made a lot of friends on Imgur, many of which are overseas and willing to let me stay with them and show me around their towns.

Backpacking and teaching English if you're talking a year or two of wandering.

Some of those kids live off parents or credit cards, but at least a couple of those kids work 32+ hours a week while doing college. I was one

I swear today a group of 12 y/o came in and payed for their drinks with platinum credit cards, that had their names on them

Life choices? Maybe they're idiots and took out loans.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Or possibly they made life choices early on that let them self fund without taking loans. Don't be so negative.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

That's why the two questions were separated.

Sucking dick at every stop.

As soon as you buy a house and car you're in the country for good. Students usually have very little upkeep. Like me.

travelling abroad during college is the easiest time to do it. exchange programs and what not mean you can study in another country for...

9 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

...the same it would cost you to go to school here. You can also get special travel grants really easily. everyone should live abroad.

I went to college with so many uppity brats spending their parents' money that my school had international trips three times a year.

YOU LOOKED AT THEIR FACEBOOK, WHICH HAS ALL OF THE COOL FUN SHIT THEY DO, THEN COMPARED IT TO YOUR DAY TO DAY LIFE.

Its also not nearly as expensive to travel as one would think, you can get a flight to europe for less than 600 and stay in hostels for 5

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

that is expensive for some people but you don't have to make travel expensive

Tell me about it, my co-workers with same salary are traveling around and struggling with paying my food. i might consume too much alcohol.

9 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 0

i drink sparkling water, a cheap brand, (50 eurocents per 1,5 litre) and it does a dent on my wallet.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I like this. I too, partake of the bubbly.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a follow alcoholic, yes it adds up

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Yeah that $12 12 pack every other day adds up real quick. I'm so broke right now

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

it's 24pack (around 25e) every other day for me.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Study abroad. Financial aid applies.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Not around here. I don't have a casual $5,000 extra to study in some crap country

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I used my income tax returns to backpack Europe twice during college. Buget. Student loans.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...how many thousands were you getting?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'd just like to know why every fucking nearby gym has a Lapras.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Because it's on the short list for being a great defensive Pokemon in Gen 1

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes but where are they finding them? I've built 1.5 Gyaradoses (Gyaradosians?) from scratch, never even seen a Lapras shadow.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I keep seeing Youtube videos pop up on my feed about "infinite Pokemon" etc. Probably some kind of hack involved.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All the gyms near me have Snorlax, and I've never even SEEN one.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I've found two, one with Pokevision and one all by myself, even with broken radar (got lucky, it was on the second street I tried). Never 1-

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

even seen a shadow of a Lapras. Also found a Dragonite totally by chance. Didn't even see it on radar, just popped up.
