My Quest 2 Controller is ok tho.

Everyone should know the potatoes trick

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Ummm, put your dick in it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Okay, so what you want to do here is put your dick in it.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Pliers can help you unscrew the husk. I did something very similar recently.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you catch the fish?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

At least you caught something

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Corporal to private: A butterknife will get that sucker out if you use plenty of water! *stands back to watch*

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I've had 2 of those type of bulbs do that. Bad design.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'll bet decent design but--lemme guess--Made in China.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Those "efficient" bulbs don't last long at all but cost like 5x as much. Total ripoff

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Lick your finger and stick it in

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Burn your house down.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

what kind of fish is that?

4 years ago | Likes 80 Dislikes 2

A bream...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Attention

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

My kid has punched the ceiling fan and somehow the side of the couch with his.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Offer a sacrifice to Ctulhu and that will come out on its own.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Breaker off. Needle-nose pliers and Bob's your uncle.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Now I'm no electrician but I'm pretty sure if merely flipping the switch isn't enough to cut power there, we may need a re-wire lol.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's why I say "breaker off", not "switch off".

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Turn off power use insulated long nose pliers

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Have you learned your lesson?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Potato time!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's a very realistic looking game.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wiped out a ceiling fan playing Gorn in VR. Replaced the whole fixture with a flat LED panel. Best decision ever.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fishing. Read it as fisting.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now the question is how many people are needed to change is. What is your profession?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

throw it back, it's undersized

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m struggling through Myst right now on my Quest. Haven’t broken any lights (yet)

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

wait... Myst? As in the classic puzzle game? On Quest!? Crap... I need to upgrade asap!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Go get some needle nose pliers...

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

And wear rubber gloves.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And stand in some water

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Make sure you keep the power on /s

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Preferably with plastic-coated handles if you're not sure how to turn the CB off.

4 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

If you don’t know how to switch off the breaker, please call someone who does

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

My lamp has 1 switch. it's on or it's off. If I can figure out the off switch at this stage in my life, a circuit breaker will break me.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hopefully the switch and lamp base are wired properly, and not with the hot to the outside.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But.. if it's off, there is no 'hot'. That's why it's on a wall switch/switched outlet in the first place.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Bummer! Looks like those $23 each, LED bulbs too...

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

And your electric company might give you a rebate coupon equal to the price. Check their web site.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nah LED bulbs are cheap now.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Lookalike an ikea bulb, $.99

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You are still living in the Dark ages.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I know from experience sticking in your finger in that broke socket is a fantastic way to ruin your day.

4 years ago | Likes 198 Dislikes 2

it's better than viagra if you survive the trip

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, you might wanna flip the switch first

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not sure who begins changing the bulb with the power live in the first place...

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Were you shocked to find out how bad of an idea it is.

4 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 1

It was even more electrifying than The Rock.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

I bet afterwards you could not smell what he was cooking.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only ozone.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Na, might sting a little, but 110 won't ruin a day.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ruin your day? Nah, getting a quick zap was the sure fire way to check if your colleague had turned the electric off for you to change it.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Shocking .... truly a shocking way to ruin your day

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Most people are shocked when they find out I'm a bad electrician.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Turn off the power. Use a potato (seriously) push it in and twist.

4 years ago | Likes 920 Dislikes 16

Use… an old phone?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

C’mon! Potato….old phone camera. Jeez tough crowd

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You had me at Potato

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Since you can make like clocks and shit with potatoes dont they conduct electricity / why isnt this a bad idea?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It works, just turn off the power supply !!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Needle-nose pliers are my go-to. Or hemostats.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

v

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Don't forget to parboil the potato first.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yup. Potato. The Swiss knife of the yonder days.

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

I just think they're neat.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

According to middle school science class, push in the potato and screw in a lightbulb to it. It should work just fine.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Could use a fork aswell. # Pro tip

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Using a potato to push and twist sounds like a rational thing to do.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well you usually cut the potato first but yeah!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The age-old Potato Trick! Gotta love it!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe just a needle nose plier

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

No. Use a pair of pliers. Always use the proper tool.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Pliers also work.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I didn't realize potatoes light up. Great idea and so much cheaper than led bulbs!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If the power is off…why just no use pliers?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Carrots are easier for that

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck I realized far too late you didn’t mean for me to boil the potato first any clever hacks on getting mashed potatoes out of light socket

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The potato is for protection from glass, with a clean break just use what you can to grip it without destroying the socket.

4 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 0

What glass? Thats a plastic LED Bulb...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, potatoe good if glass is broken in half, not as usefull nowadays,

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Only works on broken glass bulbs... Not smooth metal Edison screws

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Tim the Toolman Taylor!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Paige, n...well, maybe?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why waste a perfectly good pre french fry?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A real man would use his penis

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have questions. How does one twist their dick? And what is the potato for?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That’s what she said

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wait, what is this instruction for... I may need to go to the e.r.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Oh fuck yeah

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Though this is a plastic light with LEDs, Do people (Other than donold trump) still use glass incandescent lights?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is a potato quality comment.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

You must be Irish.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not all switches kills power in both cords (switches that actually say 0 on the off position do). Make sure it's actually unplugged.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cut the potato first so you've got a nice big first area, but that's for if there's broken glass. I've also use needle nosed pliers and ←

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

←works as well and would be better if the glass came off cleanly like it did here.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

note. turn off the power not just on the switch. if you can, turn off the power in the hole apartment.

4 years ago | Likes 98 Dislikes 5

Secure against turn on. Measure if the power is out with a 2 pole voltage detector all poles against each other. Ground and short the wires.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At the very least, duct tape the switch off

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hey you haven't seen the apartment, it might be a nice place!

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you can’t be for sure then that works but preferred just finding the relevant breaker. If wired correctly, the wall switch off is safe

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

If wired correctly, you'd be surprised how common it is to have the switch on the wrong lines.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Hence why you test before starting any work. A multimeter is your friend.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Overkill

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Many homes have the hot and neutral reversed on circuits, it's a very common mistake. In that case the socket is still live.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuse is enough no need to make your fridge, tv and pc go off.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Oh I wouldn't hit the main breaker, and wouldn't recommend for others. No need to stress it, cause they suck to replace.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whole

4 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 0

Apparently his hole has an apartment! Who knew.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who says it’s that nice?

4 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Most of my apartments qualify as holes...

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Better than the other way around, some might say

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If I met someone looking to rent my hole for $2,400 a month I'd be hard pressed to say no...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or at least on the relevant circuits (assuming your fuse box is properly labelled)

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

I have never seen a properly labelled breaker panel :c

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have. At my parents' place (granted they pretty much organized their circuits themselves)

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

just cause a major outtage in your area. you cannot be safe enough

4 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

When in TX that happens naturally

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just move to Texas. Then change the lightbulb once you're there.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just live in Texas to be extra cautious

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Disable the power grid in your state. Can't be too careful

4 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

If you live in Texas chances are your power is already off so just go for it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That guy from Live Free or Die Hard was really just trying to change his light bulb

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Successfully launch an emp worldwide and destroy humanities abilities, even temporarily, to produce electricity.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah….Texas

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

"You asked for miracles, I give you the F. B. I."

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My dad used pliers and it worked. Thanks for the tip tho.

4 years ago | Likes 378 Dislikes 1

Probably get more pixels with pliers

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's what I do too

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did he turn off the power first though?

4 years ago | Likes 126 Dislikes 3

gave it a big ol wet willy with his left pointer finger

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pft of course not, just man up and grab bare handed!

4 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

You first

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I totally would but I have this thing later...

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As long as the switch is off he should be good

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not really necessary with insulated needle nose pliers if you're steady and careful to only grab the bottom edge

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You may find the answer shocking

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"........." "He turned the power off first though, right?" *anakin/padme meme*

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

He didn't respond...oh no..

4 years ago | Likes 108 Dislikes 0

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Take my like!

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

UNCLE FREDDIE DIED?!!

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

Your daughter she come to my house and she kick my dog. Now my dog need operation!

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes. Always use the proper tool. Put a potato in it? It does work, sometimes, but it's fucking stupid.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have also decided to drop all the unnecessary letters from the word tho, and I appreciate your participation in the revolution.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Your dad is smart. Best to not use a watery vegetable to remove objects from electrical outlets.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 17

The potato is old school for the glass shards, this is a clean break. Pliers are fine for this. Power off of course

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Did that once...didn't turn off the power though just made sure to wear some rubber gloves

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Exactly. I see the potato trick posted all the time, and I just imagine that these people don't realize how wet potatoes really are

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 8

I think it's more for the people who don't have a drawer full of tools but have some of the most affordable food around and available

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you turn the switch off just jam a couple of fingers in and twist. No need for potato.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I just think it's a good way to ruin a socket. I'd rather spend $3 and get a pliers

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Turn off the power was the first sentence

4 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

But people think the switch is enough. Fuse or surprise

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'd be comfortable with just the switch, 120v where I am. Anything more than just a light socket I'll go the extra mile

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can read just fine. Why put a watery vegetable in an electrical outlet when a tool is more effective?

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Used to be for the broken glass, not so relevant here but

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

His dad used pliers... a conductor of electricity... just flip the breaker off and use whatever the hell you have

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Believe it or not, water is also a conductor.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

But pliers are generally not made of water

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1
