Recently in Los Angeles we had an election and only 11.45% of the people voted. I was saddened by this especially after the 2016 national election when people said they would get more involved. So, whether or not you want change or to strengthen the current political environment, PLEASE VOTE in the 2018 midterm election. The election wi be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018. All 435 seats in the United States House of Representatives and 34 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate will be contested. 39 state and territorial governorships and numerous other state and local elections will also be contested. I think I should post everyday to remind people... it's the least I can do.

what do i get if i vote

Someone was saying that people who don't care, actually shouldn't vote because all they'd do is be manipulated.

If you think you may forget, this fb event is posting reminders for things like this: https://www.facebook.com/events/921191211314695/

You should post every day. Start the imgurian voter movement! You already made it to FP, you can do it again!

America is lost. Invest in canned food ans shotguns.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm in that 11.45%, @OP, & was disappointed by the turnout. I think it had a lot to do w/ burnout, & that most people are happy w/ Garcetti

The Elections in L.A. did not have anything on it worth voting for. the mayor was running virtually unchallenged and the only ballot 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

measure that was of consequence was polling to be soundly defeated. Don't worry, we will be ready in 2018!! 2/2

CLEAR THE SLATE in 2018. Vote out every incumbent.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 9

Not in this state you're not.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That would give the Republicans well over 60 seats in Senate.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Uhm.. no! I actually *like* my congressman. He's one of the few engineers in congress. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Tonko

Well I don't know if you understand how voting works because in our presidential election our votes don't count hence our current president

Great fucking post...

The extensive use of referendums in California is absurd and does nothing but favour special interest groups and tire people of democracy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is what happens when you live in a state overrun by one political party. Change can seem unattainable....so why bother.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A lot of people died for the right to vote.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What election won't be full of corrupt rich people? I will vote in that one

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No one will vote again and they will complain again that they didn't want the outcome to happen

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Upvote for boobies, everytime.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Didn't even know there was an election

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Worse country ever

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 11

Everyone fucks their cousins. That's why the demographic is so stupid

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 15

you went full retard

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

And who's fault is that?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

The people who were planning the election, probably.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So if you know you can vote, but don't pay attention when you can vote, it's "their" fault?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Multiple groups can be faulty for a single event. It's partially his fault for not actively researching what he can participate in, but

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it's 99% their fault for not telling people that there is an election to vote in. Expecting people to go out of their way to do something

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live in Canada and I want people to vote there...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Clicked for boobies, stayed for politics.

If you live in Georgia's 6th, vote next month for Jon Ossoff. He's our kind of guy. An attack ad accused him of liking Star Wars. Not joking

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 4

I went to school with that guy, would not recommend that vote

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

when your opponent believes star wars is a bad thing, you know they aren't serious.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Welcome to Georgia

I would love to just buy a ranch or farm and just live the simple life.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But it's the American way to do nothing and complain about what you don't like.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

It gotta stop

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

It's not only American, it's worldwide! Sadly........if people want a change help to make that change!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Being realistic here, LA is like 88.55% illigal so really 100% of people who could, voted....@OP (this is sarcasm incase folks are that dum)

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 17

And your gettin downvotes, for dropping knowledge on your brethren

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 10

I'm sure this number is backed up by fact.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

its 100-11.45 ....see how that works...oh and sarcasm is a cool word, you should google it.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 11

Voting isn't only your right, it's your responsibility. Go out and vote the person whom represents your beliefs, not the lesser of 2 evils.

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 16

LOL like that's even possible

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As much as I admire your inclusion of the grossly underused 'whom,' in this case it should be 'who.'

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm a moderate. No one represents my beliefs.

9 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 2

Then run yourself, or find someone you agree with to run. Make the change you want to see

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I'm also a realist. It's always the lesser of two evils.

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Maybe I should say no single person or group represents my beliefs. I agree with just about everyone on something.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Until we change to ranked voting that is dumb voting advice. And we aren't going to go to ranked voting until it helps Dem/Rep. Catch 22 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It would take decades to fix your fucked up country, if ya started now. Maybe longer. You're your own worst enemy

Thank God only 11% of the people in LA vote.

9 years ago | Likes 250 Dislikes 54

i someone from los angeles... i couldn't agree more.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Unfortunately turnout is always low in off-season local elections. It's not just an LA phenomenon.

9 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

Thank God....

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Why is that?

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 7

i live in LA. it's a huge bubble out here. it's chaotic and socially schizophrenic. the actual result of diversity.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Ever been to LA?

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 10

It's a city of blatant contradiction - obsessed with wealth and fame while content to vilify the partisanship they embody.

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

Well half of the other 89% are probably not eligible to vote.

9 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 10

yup

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 3

(Convicts and Illegals)

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 11

yeah because the other 89% are too busy scrapping by.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Its LA. How insane is the cost of living there?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'll put it this way, when I browse LA times and they have a home listing insert, the average home is over a million.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

a "low income" area there are Wyvernwood Garden Apartments with a 2 star rating on Google, a classmate pays $1,600 a month living there.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

My sister-in-law pays 600 for her third of rent in CA. I pay $660 for a similar quality 2 bedroom apartment. That's insane.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why is this being downvoted? I doubt 89% of people are in dire straits but a lot of non-voters are people who literally can't (1/3)

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

most people refuse to believe how bad it actually is in LA. Your basic apartment is $1500 a month.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

leave work to vote. Most hourly jobs don't give you time off for voting, and voting takes time and energy. (2/3)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If you're struggling to put food on the table, you need every hour at your job you can get. It ain't right but people gotta eat... (3/3)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

As a Californian, (a) I didn't even know there was an election happening (b) when I said people don't give a shit anymore, it's true!

9 years ago | Likes 151 Dislikes 7

It has literally happened every two years since you've been alive.

9 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 3

You might be waiting your time if they didn't notice this one. It was the craziest damn thing I've ever seen.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

http://votesmart.org/ put in a politician and see their voting history, what side they lean to on issues, and what offices they've been in.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Vote or not, but it is your responsibility.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How so?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's your choice to vote, or not vote. Either way, you still have made a choice.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

For instance, you can choose from phantom fears or Kindness that can kill.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

omfgreallyamithatold?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

A) Not saying how it's a responsibility. B) Can't make a choice when you weren't given them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It was local Los Angeles elections. Mayor, school board, etc. No state measures were on the ballot

9 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 0

I live in LA

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

Didn't you get a sample ballot in the mail? Or any political mailers? My mailbox was overflowing with them

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

keep in mind I live in a poor area.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

no, I didn't get anything.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Are you registered to vote in the actual city of Los Angeles? I have friends who live in Burbank who also got nothing for that reason
