Great I’ve been considering throwing mine out for the last year or so. Now it’ll be several more before I consider it again.

What cable did you need. I'll be sure to keep mine.

I have done that same and am a true believer

Having no idea how to find a replacement id a breath of incompetence. Just keep hoarding stuff dude. Ur brain aint built for amazon.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And so the hoarding begin....

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well you can go to radio sha... or circuit ci... um Amazon maybe?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We call it the Jawa Box

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I organized them all into labeled gallon sized ziplock bags in plastic storage bins. Audio, video, AVI, USB, DVI, power, SATA, etc.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I couldn't find any specific cable if I wanted to in my cable hoard.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Every man of over thirty has that box for a goddamn reason. Many women too.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Nope. Throw out cords without equipment and equipment without cords. Declutter your life.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The prophecy has been fulfilled.

VGA to Firewire400 to printer to PS/2…..

I threw mine out during lockdown 2020. Haven’t needed anything from it yet. ?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

My ex-wife was given a cable for work. She immediately threw it out when she quit working for them. The next company told her she needed one

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Needed a cable I kept for probably about 10 years. That is what I imagine heroine feels like.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dear God I hope my husband doesn’t see this.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If possible take the item that needs that cable to a thrift shop. They usually have a few odd cables.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Family inherited a house when my in-law passed away. The old man never got rid of his box of cables. I’ve needed them at least five times.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My girlfriend found my box of random cables, she convinced me to throw it out. Later I was missing a plug for my back massager, assumed it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Was thrown put. Ordered a new one just to find the original a few months later tucked away. I thought I was right but she called it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yup. I threw out three boxes of cables so last month I had to buy...... phone cords. SMH who thought I'd need those ever again.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Did you know phone cords aren't straight through? I didn't. The wires flip. They didn't work, I had to buy connectors and crimp some myself.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's called Schrodinger's Cable, you'll never need it, until after you throw it out. LOL

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

LOL!!!!!

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is why I started using colored electrical tape to LABEL any cables that come with any electronics I buy. That way I know exactly >

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Label printer is where it's at.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>what it goes to. Also helps with figuring out which plug goes to the tv vs the Wii vs the Blu-ray player vs the router, etc.

We have a basement because we have several of these boxes, every screw and bolt from 3 apts and 2 houses, a spare wedding dress, 3 drumsets

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I was nodding until we got to the drum sets.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well with drum sets I think it would be technically head banging not nodding.

I’m embarrassed to admit how many ancient cables I hoarded away like Smaug.

4 years ago | Likes 250 Dislikes 0

I mean they're good quality and barely used.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Yep, this is me

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And me. Wife has been trying to make me throw cables out for many years but I just know I'll need them the moment I do.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Same

Exactly

I'm even worse. I like to tinker, so I have a box full of literal wire from cut up cords as well. It drives me nuts to work on a project and

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have to BUY wire, so I just have a box full of cut-off USB cables, heat resistant thermal probe wire, spools of magnet wire from doorbells,

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Cut off power cords, wall wart adapters, thermostat wires, cat5 cable, jumpers from PLC's, wire harnesses from pc psu's/stereos/dishwashers,

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Old IDE cables, literally anything I end up taking apart that has wire in it of any usable length, I end up harvesting it.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Lately, when i de-clutter, if i find something unique-looking that im about to throw out, i google it first to make sure i can /1

Frayed standard USB cable? Can go in the trash. RJ45 to Serial adapter? Fuck no!

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

I work in a warehouse that ships these types of adapters all of the time. We can sometimes take used stuff home.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I once wanted to buy a RJ45 to serial adapter. They told me RJ45 was already serial

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

replace it. If i cant find it, it goes back in the closet box titled "misc" /end

4 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Careful. Some things vanish quickly without a trace. Like trying to find the video of "Tenacious D - Fuck her Gently" online

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

go here https://musicvideo.fandom.com/ Type in said song... profit!

I can't wait to surprise my partner with this tonight! 😍

I'm no fool. That shoe box of chords, cables and adaptors stays with me until I die

4 years ago | Likes 150 Dislikes 0

I've started pruning duplicates and ones I actually don't have a device for. E.g. the SCART cables died in 2021

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Bury me with them." Like, dump them in your coffin? "Actually scratch that, cremate me and add me to the drawer"

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Please hang them up organized or you’ll never find it.

Have you got that secret chord in there? The one David played and it pleased the Lord?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Great! Now that's going to be stuck in my head for 7 weeks

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ha. "Shoe box?" What is this? Amateur hour? 25 gallon tote of cords

4 years ago | Likes 55 Dislikes 0

Shoe box is amateur. Try garage

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, amateur hour. I'm not a tech junkie. I'm not a gamer. I still listen to CDs.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

As do I. I'm not an audio snob or anything, but in certain songs you definitely lose something when it's compressed to mp3 or streamed.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tidal and Deezer both stream higher quality than the average CD, though. They have lossless for a lot of content, whereas CD is usually 320

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep, that's what I have lurking in the closet, overflowing with cables. I may need that parallel printer cable one day.
