Take your time Neptune....

The size of each planet is to scale and the speed is accurate relative to earth. Each repetition of a gif is proportional to their orbital period.

"WHEEEEW"-Mercury probably

Because I'm incredibly productive and amazing at studying, I felt it was entirely necessary to wait for Neptune after I missed it once

Poor Pluto...

Some say it didnt finish a full rotation before it got booted from planet status

Ultimate troll: Neptune has no animation, it's a still picture. People just wait for ages.

Nah, it's just the only one in real time :P

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh, I know. I saw. I just thought it would be amusing. :D

you dont have to say "earth years" its just a year.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

a year is based on a day, measured on earth...it's different on other planets...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

actually a year is based on the time taken to do one revolution of the sun, a day is the time taken to turn 360 degrees on a planets axis

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and as a cool extra to that, on venus a day is 243 Earth days but a year is only 224.7 days so a year on venus is shorter than a day.

^This Thank You

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a day is still 24 hours, a year is still 365 days. its still years. you dont have to say "earth"

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

you just don't get it....

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

no, you dont. its not a different measure unless you are measureing from there. you are measuring from here.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

well a year on mercury is still a year but it aint 365 days.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and it still remains, the entire reason for the post is upwards of 89% of earthbound humans have no idea how long a year is anywhere else.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

therefore "earth years" is redunant and completely unneeded

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

actually that statistic is just a wasted attempt to sound less wrong, most people on earth know a year is different on different planet

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

the only way the "earth" designation would be needed, is if the audience has knowledge of other years, which they dont.

and you're also forgetting this has been posted on imgur which is mainly accessible to those in MEDC'

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

MEDC's so will quite likely have a rudimentary understanding of our solar system
