My son struggles with autism. The assistant principal does a great job with him and is just a wonderful human being all around. My son wanted to dress like him for the day; he even had his own walkie-talkie and "Mini Staff Member" ID badge.

Very cool Op and he is rocking those suspenders like a pro

The man has the body shape of a cartoon character, of course kids love him.

Holy shit that is a large man. I couldn't figure out what the walkie talkie was and ended up deciding it was some sort of whistle.

Am I allowed to ask about the pants if I'm almost certain that I am fatter than that guy

That looked like an airplane sized bottle of liquor! Thank you for mentioning it was a radio.

Assistant Principal Dumpty does look like he's having fun. Just keep him away from walls/heights.

Competent, intelligent and dedicated educators seem to be a rarity these days, give this man a raise.

Or a gym membership

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 9

That's because all the competent, intelligent, and dedicated people can only take so much crap before moving on to greener pastures

I thought that he was holding a vape

I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Your son doesn't struggle with autism,he lives with it. He will be fine just needs to learn some skills to accommodate him.

9 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 29

Excellent point. I guess I meant it more as he has some behaviors he struggles with at school.

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Awesome to have great staff. Stay strong.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 4

It's still a struggle. Don't belittle his hardships just to push your agenda.

Having autism is pretty easy tbh. Now German grammatical cases, however...

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 12

Belittle? I have an 14 year old Autistic son, I was making a point about mindset

Is there an autism epidemic or something? It seems like autism is way more common than I remember it being.

http://quasarkisses.tumblr.com/post/159096024293 <- this link REALLY helped me put it in perspective better. It explains it in several ways

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dsm v also included Aspergers as part of autism now so more people fall under the diagnosis. There are a lot of factors though

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I think it's more about progress and being able to provide a diagnostic

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Makes sense. I wasn't trying to be an ass or anything, just curious since I hear about it so much more now than I remember

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, diagnosis is broader than it used to be. In 1994 they added two new diagnoses in addition to the type of autism you're used to.

Hoverhand spotted.

Honestly it's sad that even has to be an issue. I'm a teacher and I so wish I could hug some of my students if they're having a crappy day.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I feel like the hover hand might be merited if the kid has autism, he may not love being touched. But good eye lol!!

Try being a male in early childhood/elementary education. The thought of how things might look to stupid people is always there

I have a 10yo and a 1.5yo. You don't have to tell me about being paranoid around other kids.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Having one of my after school program kids come up to give me a hug, and having to deflect them to this awkward side hug/back pat, good time
