Life is good

So, a friend of mine from high school posts suicide note on Facebook first thing yesterday morning. I don't have her address or phone number or anything but I called the cops in the town she lives in hoping they can track her down. They tell me they'll call me back. They never do. I fear the worst as the day goes on. Receive a text from said friend telling me how thankful she is for me and will be in the hospital for a few days and will call me when she leaves.

Back story. She lives in PA, I live in TX. I know she's been fighting with depression for a while. We haven't conversed in several years, but every now and then I send her a message of encouragement knowing she will read it but won't text me back. Doesn't matter, I care for her and hope she's ok. I've been fighting my own demons for years now and was close to the end a few months ago. Has completely blown me away. Held my daughters for a long long time yesterday and just cried a little.

Life is good.

Good job man. I live in PA so it's always a positive when people help each other out.

I had a friend who did this for me. I am so grateful she had the guts to help.

Hurray! Posting it on a public forum was probably a cry for help. They probably didn't know what they wanted.

Wish I had that kind of support when my depression dives. In this place mental illness is in the eye of whoever you work for.

Please don't ignore those cries for help. Lost a good friend last night...

She wanted to be 'saved'. If you really want to kill yourself you leave a note that will only be discovered when it's too late.

I had something similar happen. An online friend said he was going to commit suicide, so one of us called 911. They found him and brought

him to the hospital. He was really grateful... until the bill came.

Friend said in Skype group he was going to wrap his car around a tree. Two days later he told us that at the last moment he decided not to.

Well done OP. Well done.

You're still friends with an attention seeker.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sorry this happened but you used the meme wrong. There is nothing awkward about this.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I figured it was wrong. But I'm not meme-educated enough to know. My bad.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I wish my ex husband had posted a note or something. Maybe one of us could have saved him.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tl;dr cries for attention answered, front page imgur

can relate too much. you did very good @OP

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

For all those saying it was "just" a cry for attention because she posted on Facebook, yeah, it might have been. But she immediately posted

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

something for someone to get her dog and then delete everything a few minutes later. Guess I forgot to mention that.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

On behalf of all of us who have thought that was the best option at one point... thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I was too late once. Crying now :/

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Meanwhile I post a suicide note online and no one gives a shit.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I work at a crisis call center, and get calls like this all the time, and we treat them as seriously as possible. Thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Theres no way to save me. Goodbye

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Hey man are you alright?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

This is why if the darkness ever wins, I won't tell anyone first. I'll just live-stream it on /b/

I had to call the cops on my own mom once even she said bye to my daughter and locked herself in her room to take all her pills.

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 3

My mom tried multiple Times. Brought her to the hospital twice and called an ambulance at least four Times. Hard to grow up in 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But she's doing better now and so Am i ^^

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*after she said bye to my daughter.

9 years ago | Likes 39 Dislikes 2

I hope she is well now

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

She is. It was a problem with her medicine that needed resolved.

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 1

i think you two words that time

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

My BIL is from Ohio & his whole family leaves out the "to be" in clauses like that. So at least some Ohioans do it. Don't know who else.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

My mom did this just a few weeks ago.. She took all her pills and told my dad to "Take care of the kids". We called 911, in hospital for 1wk

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm so sorry.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Luckily she survived but it really sucked. It changed her.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A steam friend of mine told me he was going to end it soon, so I called 911, found where he lived and they got him help. He's doing good now

9 years ago | Likes 255 Dislikes 3

*Well I can't help myself

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

How did you did him? I deal with this almost weekly

9 years ago | Likes 51 Dislikes 3

We were Facebook friends too, and I knew his state, so I went from there.

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 2

Thank you

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Saved a forum friend in another country by calling a local psych. hospital. They already knew his address, we are dating now <3

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's fucking awesome! Talk about an ideal resolution

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We are living together now and he is a real sweety, he was so happy when we met

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I did the same thing but he got super pissed at me, and we don't talk anymore.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 4

worth it

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

How Fucking dare you try and prevent someone dying, inconsiderate asshole! - Dumb cunt probably

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 3

Pretty much. He acted like I did it selfishly, as if I wanted to see him suffer and get his parents involved for fun. No regrets though.

9 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 4

Yeah man, but i think deep inside they feel bad realizing someone cares

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That made me tear up a little, mandadadada. Thank you.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Short Story. Had a friend in grade school he used to write stories. Moved away years ago kept in contact. One day he pitches me 1/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

a idea for a story about someone who kills himself in the end, and ask for suggestions on what would be the least painless. I suggest 2/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Suffocation via helium, he thanks me.Couple days later I find out he killed himself with this method...nobody had any idea he was depressed.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was the third friend I lost last year, and the first friend I ever had.... I still can't figure out why he did that to me.. 4/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He had it better then I 'To be married, owned a home, nice job' while I'm basically working homeless...But well who's to say what he felt?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How exactly did she text you if you do not have her phone number?! And why would police give her your name?

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

He could have had his on facebook, or gotten it from a friend.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Facebook. And she got my phone number from a message I had sent her previously through Facebook

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

You like to blow your own horn on Imgur for doing good deeds. Even do-gooders don't brag about how great they are to online strangers.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 26

Except in this case, @OP's example can encourage more people to do the same

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ain't nothing wrong with blowing your own horn. Ask Marilyn Manson

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

When you are blowing your horn claiming heroism for the sake of fake internet points on Memorial Day weekend, yes, there is something wrong.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 10

When you bash people who've done a good thing, there's something wrong. Stfu asshole.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

do i need a phone number for it to text me???

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

?? Facebook messenger app. It just pops up like a text message for me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

i meant to say that for someone to text you, you do not need their phone number, they need to have yours :)

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sorry. My use of "text" and "message" gets used the same. But she had my number from a previous message I had sent her. I didn't have hers

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I understand what you are saying I get those two mixed up also.
