Rimworld has difficulty settings that make huge difference. The game is piece of cake on lower settings.

Ark: There's too many bugs to even know if there's any loops. All feedback is ignored.

Rimworld; dangers scale with wealth. Dangers give organs, slaves, skins and materials to sell for more wealth. Best loop.

factorio: literally every problem is fun to solve, regardless of whether you end up launching a rocket or get devoured by bugs

Dark Souls: YOU DIED

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Your souls are forfeit and your health is reduced. This is a negative feedback loop.

CS:GO winning 10 to 0. Lose one round and your team starts raging and blaming the guy with least kills or last one alive that round. Lovely.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fucking love rimworld

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is a little inaccurate. Positive feedback does not mean something good is happening. It means change is encouraged. It is bothering me.

Isaac: You did well, here's a preview of what you would have won if it wasn't for ten boss enemies spawning inside your face for no reason.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Plus, with XCOM, it's rather balanced. There's always that one lucky or unlucky turn that could ruin your unstoppable death god.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

i think last one should be about dwarf fortress

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Tl;Dr Positive FDBK loop means you will likely keeping whatever momentum you have, a negative FDBK loop means your momentum will oscillate.

Xcom. That soldier is only unstopable untill that sectopod crits a 17% shot. Then hes gone, you lack behind for dumping every into one guy.

Rimworld has unavoidable random events that can kill your electricity or wipe out your crops. You can lose all your stockpiled food at anyti

Rim-World is just dwarf fortress on "Very Easy"

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean- RimWorld is basically a less featured Dwarf Fortress with updated graphics in a lot of ways

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And ya know, the UI makes sense and the mechanics are pretty strait foward

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Someone made an embark on a terrifying biome with an aquifer and only 1 pick. They made a fortress and survived...They won

All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality. 2/2

I love rimworld. I had a colonist lose her arm by walking into the trap she built, and then she lost her other arm the same way.

8 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

I would be that stupid

What's rim world?

8 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 4

Prison architect mod

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 5

It's on steam, but the name is "Rimworld" (no space). It's great if challenging games that make you think and support mods are your style.

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

A really great survival/colony management simulator, much recommend

A place where you do a lot of rim jobs to survive.

Dwarf Fortress style game on alien planets. Your goal is to get rescued. Many chaotic and routine events conspire to block you.

A game I have spent more hours and mods in than skyrim. If you got that special itch, nothing scratches it better.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Though for some reason one human corpse doesn't even give you enough leather for a single hat

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Human skin is very thin. You have to use a few layers to get a decent hat ... theoretically.

In defense of Mario Kart the rules aren't supposed to make the game fair, they're supposed to make the game interesting.

8 years ago | Likes 331 Dislikes 7

An experienced player will still win 90% of the time whilst less seasoned players will still enjoy playing - and improving

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is something about Mario Kart that no matter what, I will invariably be shit at it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I still think the game 'Blur' handled the blueshell better though.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh snap I fucking loved blur

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Negative feedback is not a flaw of the game: It is a very common game design strategy in most PvP games, to keep things balanced.

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I still think Blue Shell is awful design. But being fair, it stops the people at the front, and keeps the people at the back involved.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

What makes you say it's awful design?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Many believe the point of powerups is to improve your relative positioning. Make the early worse, improve your speed, defend spot in lead.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Blue shell doesn't help you win, but it can completely fuck up another player who was otherwise playing correctly (explosion makes it more)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But it certainly can improve your relative positioning. Just because it's impact is more directed toward the front of the pack doesn't 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Worth noting that, unlike the image, the Blue Shell rarely, if ever, benefits the person who actually uses it

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

You have to know how to benefit from it. It's a huge help like all the loser items.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They are supposed to let a 14-year old, a 6-year old, and a 40-year old play the same game

8 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 0

Been there, done that and got the 80-year-old grandmother to join in too. It's the best form of gaming.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And they do it very well. I just wish Nintendo devs would've expanded on SSBM's awesome rules and not diluted Brawl to "same game" mentality

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Problem is, at least for 8, if you are good and everyone else a noob, you will still win all the time, blue shell or not.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That was always the case.. with all Mario Karts... part of the reason why I don't like playing against my friends anymore

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This. Mario Kart is not an e-sports racing game, but first and foremost a fun partygame (atleast if you got the blue shell.)

8 years ago | Likes 107 Dislikes 4

Navy here. Took the N64 on a 6 mo deployment. My roommates and I played every mariokart level every day. Strategic losing for more powerful

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Weapons is a good strategy. Especially holding strategic Lightning’s to hit then prior to a jump.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

When double dash was big i trolled the hell out of my friends. Every now and then i would get a star and save it. Blue shells can suck it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fucking casual

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We need more fun, party games and less esport games

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 4

How about we have both

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Except people turn them into esports games. There are tier lists and banned stages for Smash Bros.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 2

Yes, but that doesn't change that if you completely ignore the esports bullshit. It is a enjoyable game.

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

True dat.
