American company SuitX from Berkeley ,introduced an easy and cheap (compared to competitors) exoskeleton The Phoenix, allowing most to return the ability to move people with paralyzed lower body limbs. The exoskeleton is attached to the man's feet and allows it to travel at a speed slightly less than 2 km / h. The device weighs 12.5 kg, which is the best indicator to date, and is powered by a battery, a charge which is enough for 8 hours of work. The cost of this exoskeleton $ 40 000, while more expensive than nearest competitor by 37 500. Phoenix does not fully regain the mobility disabled, but prevents the development of certain diseases, which may arise due to the constant presence in a wheelchair....Translated

Every day we get closer and closer to Call of Duty.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Its cool and all, but how are gimps going to be able to afford that when they don't have jobs?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"My mamma said they'd take me *anywhere*!"

Does it come with a Diamond Dogs logo on it?

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Once it's been upgraded, weaponized, and will allow me to throw a Buick, I'll get one.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

First the article says it's cheaper then the competition, going on to say it's actually more expensive????

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

I think he meant it's cheaper than the other guys by 37500

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I'm pretty sure this happened in Wallas and Gromit

All fun and games until someone hacks your legs

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is a person in Fallout 4 that wears a power armor frame everywhere because she has no legs.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't know who that is. But you can still have a point.

I know, right? My guess is we are 20 years TOPS from having fully functional mech-warrior suits. What a time to be alive!

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you have bionic legs too!?!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I wish... I would then have the ability to actually run away from my responsibilities

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you want Terminators??? Because THAT'S how you get Terminators!!!

9 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 9

It's more like "Do you want Starship Troopers? Because this is how you get Startship Troopers". (Read the book).

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

This is how we get borgs. And I'm cool with it.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But this is literally the opposite of terminators. Termie was robot inside, meat outside. This is meat inside, robot outside.

We can get the assault cannons from the A-10s.

Exoskeleton Master Race

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

This should be 100% paid for by taxmoney, for anyone paralyzed.

9 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 11

It would be nice but taxes are kinda crazy already tho.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No it should not.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol even wheelchairs aren't

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Because do you have ANY idea how much that would cost?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

2/2 aaaaand most of europe has better policies than that :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

uhhhhh... in the uk the nhs provides wheelchairs for anyone who will be mobility impaired for over 6 months :/

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Same here in Canada. Because our taxes are structured to include healthcare. Whereas in the US, it's not.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I hate when people say this. Where do suggest the 200+ Billion should come from? There are 5.6 million paralyzed people in the US.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Stop going to war and put people in wheelchairs? Stop bailing out banks? Would cover 200 billion, easy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

Easier said than done. It's much more complex that you think.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

eh, not really. Politically complicated but not mathematically complicated. see, e.g., http://crfb.org/stabilizethedebt/#

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Bank bailouts $4.6 trillion already paid out. I think that money would be better spent on exoskeletons.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I don't think you have a good enough grasp of economics to understand what would have happened if those banks weren't bailed out.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Neither do you

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They needed the bailout, but they're profitable now, and we could tax them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You don't realize just how much money the 1% have stolen from the rest of us. The answer is "tax the rich."

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They have enough money to take their money elsewhere, trust me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Then we tax it on the way out.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Implying that they've not already thought of that.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Sure. Go do that. Then you can pay for exoskeletons. But until then, don't pretend this money is lying around.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Well, it is lying around, it's just lying around in the bank accounts of the Waltons instead of helping the poor and sick.

I love seeing things like these. The dead getting mechanical ear implants. The blind a bionic eye. Colorblind special glasses. It's amazing.

9 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

I hope you had meant deaf

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

lol @ the dead gettin ear implants. Fear the Hearing Dead.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Vampires and Zombies deserve to hear too!

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yea, i cant wait till i can join the cyborg master race and purge all the lesser races under our iron boots!

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I would love robot legs

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meh. I'm still waiting for robotic hair to fix my baldness. Suck my dick technology. Also..the Fleshlight...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, maybe alarms would actually work for waking the dead if they had ear implants.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Bring out your dead!

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

"Bring out your deaf!" "What?"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's a bit late with that ear implant when dead i would say :< Also not sure what you refer to with mechanical ear implant? The bone-one?

9 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 0

haha, I thought of like "Grandma is dead" "But she can hear this fly mixtape, watch this Jenny" *grandma starts beatboxing on the slab*
