So i thought i would provide more information...

As i was scrolling through images as usual, i noticed this-

A gif of the ever-so-famous video of the guy walking a pack of GSDs down a busy street. I also noticed that it had a surprising number of upvotes and a hell of a lot of views. Some of the comments mentioned things being off with his dogs, or knowing his reputation, pointing out what a despicable human being he is. But i thought people may be interested in knowing more sources of information to make up their own minds about the way this man operates and to arm themselves with knowledge so that his video may never be shared again, he may never gain popularity and so he may never con another person into having the misfortune of dealing with his training or his dogs. This is going to be pretty wordy, so you might wanna get some popcorn. Or you can be a pussy and skip the to TL;DR.

You dont have to agree with me in the slightest, some of this is my opinion on the guy but most of it is information taken/reworded from other places and sites. If you have any other good sources or any input leave a comment.

This man is Augusto Deolivieira. 'Owner' of Griffin Shepherd Kennels.

He looks pretty impressive right? A bunch of seemingly well trained dogs that do what asked without hesitation at his heel as he casually strolls along in full control without a worry of any breaking away.

Demand for puppies and dogs bred and trained by this man was apparently great enough for him to decide to set up a kennel and provide people with what they wanted. There is supposedly a waiting list due to the demand, despite him frequently posting puppies people can "skip the waiting lists" and buy as soon as they present the cash.

For him to have had such success and be selling puppies and dogs anywhere between $1000-$3000 he must be great at what he does and provide the best of the breed, right?

Wrong.

AD (shorter than his full name) 'trains' his dogs using fear, pain and manipulation. His dogs do not do what they do because they are wanting to please and enjoy training, they are doing it because they are scared of what will happen if they do not, what pain or shock may follow. He uses controversial methods to do with dominance over his dogs and uses even more controversial tools such as electronic collars/leashes and prong collars plus he has even recorded himself withholding WATER from his dogs as part of training and when given back the dogs have drank so fast its surprising they did not get bloat. Its not known if he has any sort of dog training certification, as he both claims being certified means nothing yet claims he himself is certified or training to be so, one thing that is clear regarding any training is he is absolutely not a qualified service-dog trainer despite his claims of donating dogs to be used for service purposes or helping train them. There is never a straight answer with this man.

His 'breeding' is even worse. For a start, none of his dogs are vaccinated for even the basic (and law-requiring) things like canine parvovirus and rabies, and they are not hip or elbow scored or tested for any sort of diseases which can be passed onto the pups. While vaccines can be controversial, no puppy should miss out on the basics especially in a breeding establishment, his dogs are also at risk every time he takes them somewhere and he is placing others in risk every time he hosts 'training classes' at the kennels. He does not treat his dogs for parasites such as fleas or worms either which is very unwise when doubled with the fact he gives his dogs roadkill alongside their raw diet.

AD has also been known to fail to separate bitches from dogs and has had multiple "oops" litters from brother/sister or parent/offspring matings and also mates bitches on almost every heat cycle meaning they get no rest between litters to recover and thus ensuring there are always puppies "ready-to-go'. It is estimated that by the end of April 2015 Griffin Shepherd Kennels will have produced 161 puppies. It is just a glorified puppy farm and you never know what you are getting.

Currently the kennels are under quarantine imposed by the state because of an outbreak of parvovirus, which has sadly killed dogs, although it is unknown right now which ones due to confusion over names and who is who when it comes to his dogs as he will call multiple dogs by the same name.

He has no idea how dogs work, and sets them up to fail.

In this (rather poor quality, i apologise) screen cap AD is having to pull one bitch off of another. One of them had whelped only two weeks prior to this but has already been thrown back in with the 'pack' instead of being kept away in the quiet to raise her pups. They were believed to have been left unsupervised in a yard with other dogs, and AD only stepped in when the fight escalated to leaping on one another and pinning to the floor.

He has no control over the dogs, and lacked even the most basic understanding of behavior and breeding which could have prevented this incident. Where are the puppies too? Why is their mother not with them?

He allows his dogs to attack others because he believes thats how they work.

In this (once again potato quality) other screen cap, AD is watching and filming as one of his dogs repeatedly attacks another. The dog on the right is his main stud and the kennels namesake Griffin. The dog on the left is Griffins son, Jake, who is only 6 months old at the time of filming.

AD allowed Griffin to attack Jake, as Jake walked outside before Griffin. AD saw this as being disrespectful to an older 'alpha' dog so when Griffin turned on Jake who was trying to show submission through his body language and vocalisation (ie screaming like hell), he stood back and allowed it for some time.

This is not a thing which should be allowed. Any dog attacking another without provocation/defending itself is poorly socialised and needs to be worked on and should not be bred from on the off chance it is caused by medical issues or temperamental flaws from bad breeding. Yet AD encourages this sort of 'natural discipline' between his dogs and regularly breeds Griffin to several different bitches.

AD has also started 'protection dog' training*, you know, similar to the training police forces use- Bite a person, hold them, leave them etc. He is not qualified to do this, and videos he has put up of this training show just how inexperienced he is with it and how dangerous this could be as the dogs do not listen to his "leave it" commands until they are repeated a few times.

Very, very few of his dogs have ever been fit for sale.

The dog in this photo is a young, 1 year old (at the time), bitch named Katie.

She was up for sale for $1000 by AD who claimed she was perfectly healthy and fully trained as well as being good with other dogs and children. When a woman expressed interest and visited her, AD spun some cockamamie story about only recently getting her back off of her original owner who bought her from him as a pup and had been struggling with her after getting a rescue dog. Katie was apparently not eating normally either which he said contributed to weight loss.

The woman decided to take her, and AD promised to mail her the AKC forms and get vet records from the old owner for her. That never happened. The woman also went onto the kennels page later on and noticed Katie had been advertised for breeding with Jake, which did not match what she had been told about her past at all.

The woman found Katie wasnt too far off promised, but did have some behavioral issues. Mainly aggression towards other dogs and possessiveness around them.

It shows documents which AD uses to con buyers into thinking they are getting they are getting a healthy and well bred pup. But are either forged or photocopied and altered in some way.

Other people have had note-worthy issues with Griffin Shepherd Kennels too.

Kaycee shared her experience when purchasing their pup Chelsea. They also show some documents which dont quite add up, and describe the puppy as "by far, the worst GSD i have ever owned" showing how little care AD puts into his breeding.

Its by far the most chock-a-block with evidence against AD, with pictures of more forged documents and communications between herself and AD where he seems to have very little clue about the puppy he has spent the last few weeks raising and has just sold.
