This looks exactly like my german shepherd!! Same low ears, same super fluff, and the same kind face :3

When does the hug happen?!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At this point they have pretty much same level of intelligence

Those ears!

Nice bonding there, one will feel the loss of the other at some point and it will be painful.

Looks like a Shiloh Shepherd. Like German Shepherds, but floofy.

I want to give my daughter a doggo of her own. But I am afraid of the turmoil she will face when it passes before her.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

A dog will teach her many other lessons during it's life. Mortality is just the final lesson. The benefits hugely outweigh the downside.

Please don’t let that deter you from getting a family pet; I’ve had pets my entire life & it’s been enriched because of it!

Mine passed away in 2015. Tbh, I still cry when i think about him. I am 25 years old

Tried doing this as a toddler and the dog bit me on the head

8 years ago | Likes 74 Dislikes 0

Yea, my sister got her lip bitten off by our aunt's dog when she was 6. Don't let your toddlers hug dogs that aren't used to children.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My dog is just one more tail or ear yank away from going off on my toddler. He’s so patient w/ him but bubby is so mean to him:(

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 6

Keep him away from the dog till he behaves then.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Teachable moment. Don't let it get to the point the dog goes off.

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Any tips? We show him how to be nice, and a lot of the times he is; when he’s mean we are firm & tell him no, & show how to “love the puppy”

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We take preventative measures. My 1 yo already knows "easy" and "gentle" we say it as the child is reaching toward any animal. It works.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If the dog is in his place, like this red mat of his, you should teach the child to leave the dog alone. Do not invade his space.

It's a GSD, not an indiscriminate murderer.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

GSD's can be wonderfully loyal, patient and affectionate family dogs. But it's not with out reason they are used as police dogs 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

And any dog not raised right can become aggressive. Either way, you shouldn't ever risk your child's wellbeing in any situation. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Why tho?

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Because dogs are animals and have a different language than us. We choose to provide and care for them and therein lies the responsibility

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 7

To keep them safe. Even the mildest tempered dog can snap, and there should always be clear set boundaries to child-dog interaction.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

I will always be on guard when children are around my dog and set guidelines beforehand, because it would break my heart to put her down.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

Oh okay. I don't know much about dogs, thanks for the info

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Looks like a Long Coat GSD (the fluff around the ears and neck is a dead giveaway) i have a few of my own and they are gorgeous

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's a King Shepard

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

What makes you think that?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's just what some people call Long coat german shepard i think.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

King (and 'Shiloh') shepherds are bigger, bulkier and squarer, they are bread with larger dogs and also encourages throwbacks to larger 1/?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

dogs to get bigger, heavier shepherds. This one is nowhere near that big
