Prometheus - The discovery of a clue to mankind's origins on Earth leads a team of explorers to the darkest parts of the universe. Two brilliant young scientists lead the expedition. Shaw (Noomi Rapace) hopes that they will meet a race of benevolent, godlike beings who will in some way verify her religious beliefs, while Holloway (Logan Marshall-Green) is out to debunk any spiritual notions. However, neither the scientists nor their shipmates are prepared for the unimaginable terrors that await them.

Elysium - In the year 2159, humanity is sharply divided between two classes of people: The ultrarich live aboard a luxurious space station called Elysium, and the rest live a hardscrabble existence in Earth's ruins. His life hanging in the balance, a man named Max (Matt Damon) agrees to undertake a dangerous mission that could bring equality to the population, but Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) vows to preserve the pampered lifestyle of Elysium's citizens, no matter what the cost.

Body of Lies - CIA agent Roger Ferris (Leonardo DiCaprio) hatches a bold but dangerous plan to capture terrorist Al-Saleem. With the help of Ed Hoffman (Russell Crowe) who is a master of subterfuge, Ferris creates a fake terrorist organization to prompt Al-Saleem out of hiding. At the same time, Ferris must keep his plan secret from Hani (Mark Strong), the head of Jordanian intelligence, because Ferris will lose his own life if Hani finds out.

The Thin Red Line - In 1942, Private Witt (Jim Caviezel) is a U.S. Army absconder living peacefully with the locals of a small South Pacific island. Discovered by his commanding officer, Sgt. Welsh (Sean Penn), Witt is forced to resume his active duty training for the Battle of Guadalcanal. As Witt and his unit land onthe island, and the American troops mount an assault on entrenched Japanese positions, the story explores their various fates and attitudes towards life-or-death situations.

The Ninth Gate - Dean Corso (Johnny Depp) specializes in tracking down rare and exotic volumes for collectors. Boris Balkan (Frank Langella) has recently acquired a seventeenth-century satanic text called The Nine Gates- a legendary book written by Satan himself. With The Nine Gates in his possession, Corso soon finds himself at the center of strange and violent goings-on. Not only is his apartment ransacked, it appears that he is being shadowed ferociously by others determined to regain the book.

A Scanner Darkly - In the near future, as America virtually loses the war on drugs, Robert Arctor, a narcotics cop in Orange County, Calif., becomes an addict when he goes under cover. He is wooing Donna, a dealer, to ferret out her supplier. At the same time, he receives orders to spy on his housemates, one of whom is suspected of being Donna's biggest customer.

The Good Shepherd - Discreet, idealistic and intensely loyal, Edward Wilson (Matt Damon) finds that service in the OSS and later as a founding member of the Central Intelligence Agency is the perfect career for a man of his talents. His methods become standard operating procedure for the CIA while he combats his counterparts in the KGB. But, as the country slips deeper into the Cold War, Edward finds that dedication to duty above family has a price.

Terminator Salvation - Although Judgment Day has in fact occurred, the future for which John Connor (Christian Bale) was prepared has been partly altered by the appearance of a stranger named Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington). Connor must determine if Wright has been rescued from the past, or sent from the future. As the machines prepare for a final battle, Connor and Wright delve deep into Skynet's heart, uncovering a secret that could lead to the annihilation of mankind.

The Blood of Heros - A Mad Max-esque post apocalyptic world provides the backdrop for a brutal, futuristic game resembling football. Rutger Hauer plays a disgraced former star leading a rag tag group of "Juggers " to one of the remaining Nine Cities for glory and redemption.

Screamers - Cmdr. Joe Hendricksson (Peter Weller) and new recruit Ace Jefferson (Andy Lauer) set out across the surface of Sirius 6B, where they hope to settle a violent labor dispute at a remote mining outpost. After going too far to turn back, they find the desert riddled with deadly Autonomous Mobile Swords, or "Screamers." Created to protect the mines, these burrowing weapons have learned to replicate themselves. To make matters worse, recent generations of Screamers can assume humanoid form.

Strange Days - Former policeman Lenny Nero (Ralph Fiennes) has moved into a more lucrative trade: the illegal sale of virtual reality-like recordings that allow users to experience the emotions and past experiences of others. While the bootlegs typically contain tawdry incidents, Nero is shocked when he receives one showing a murder. He enlists a friend, bodyguard Mace (Angela Bassett), to help find the killer -- and the two soon stumble upon a vast conspiracy involving the police force Nero once worked for.

The ninth gate is so good

I've watched 9th Gate at least 20 times (I'm an occult book collector) ... Prometheus is great too.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Body of Lies is a fantastic movie. This list is great but i think you are mistaken about people not liking these.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 1

yeah most people I know like the majority of these movies tbh.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

#2 Eminem turned down the lead role because the director won’t change shooting locations from Los Angeles to Detroit. -IMDb

Got my upvote for ninth gate alone. Never seen any other movie on this list, but that one was really good

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

If you liked the Ninth Gate, there's a good chance you'll enjoy the other films on this list, even if they aren't your cup of tea.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"Screamers" is based off a Philip K. Dick short story called "Second Variety", and is one of my favorite PKD stories.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I watched screamers only few years ago, and was first thinking "why this feels so familiar". I liked the movie, but sequel was pretty bad.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m with you on Ninth Gate. The other ones...not so much.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Ninth Gate and Strange Days both have some excellent performances.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Chappie is underappreciated too

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

True. I like that movie a lot too.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh my god, Blood of Heroes! Yes!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The thin red line is my favorite war movie

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mine is the 1930s version of All Quiet on the Western Front.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Salute of the Juggers.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Blood of Heroes was the US release name.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#9 A ship I sailed on years ago had The Blood of Hero's (then called Salute of the Jugger) on video.I must have seen it at least 10 times.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's what it's called in Europe.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved Ninth Gate!

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Agreed. I can't trust a person that hates that movie. lol

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Rutger Hauer and Joan Chen

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

WTF. 9th gate was really Good

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Johnny Mnemonic

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

9th gate was damn good. Jonny Depps character was well done. It was a fun good random find for me back in the day!

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The ninth gate is amazing. Plus the protagonist buys and sells rare books. Wish I could make that my job

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Blood of Heroes... that was my favorite movie when I was a kid a long with Road Warrior

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Steel Dawn was one my sister and I watched a lot. And Excalibur.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is an actual trash list, I love it. Good on you for putting your own opinion out there with no shame

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

lol i wasn't sure how to be nice about it but 'trash list' certainly fits the bill

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Strange Days and Ninth Gate both have some excellent performances, but the latter is very slow and low key.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Anyone see Arrival? Great premise carried off believably. Fun.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you like edge of tomorrow?

8 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 0

All of Tom Cruise's sci-fi is good, though. He's oddly awesome when it comes to action sci-fi and I demand more from him!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

People loved Edge of Tomorrow. It doesn't belong in this specific list. My personal favorite Tom Cruz movie

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Half of these don't. a lot of well regarded movies here. Thin Red Line, A Scanner Darkly, The Good Shepherd, Strange Days...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I really enjoy that movie.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Do you like edge of tomorrow?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Im a huge Alien franchise fan and I was very pleased with promethus and covenant

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

Agreed. The only films I felt were lore breaking were Alien 3 and AVP2. A3 wasn't a terrible movie either. It had a great cast.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, Blood of Hero's was 80s gold.+1

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Remember Steel Dawn with Patrick Swayze? Or I come in peace with Dolph Lundgren?

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I remember I come in Peace! Fucking wrist shot CD smart weapon having, crazy gun toting, brain juice harvesting, drug dealer from space!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Seriously, who doesn't love The Blood of Heroes? Losers, that's who.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Also called "salute of the jugger". Great flick.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes, I was gonna say that in the UK it was Salute of the Jugger. Good movie.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Loved Terminator salvation. I thought the setting and world itself really made it different than the rest.

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

It was ok… Better than "Rise of the Machines" & "Genesys". But still… Post Apocalyptic world and Everyone has perfect teeth? Get OUUTA here!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

LOL I'll give you that, it's definitely a stupid oversight

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I wish they had kept the original ending.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thought it was the best Terminator movie.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 4

I'm so bummed they're not continuing that story.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm even more bummed that Genisys completely ignored Salvation.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The setting of Salvation was great, but I hated everything else about it as a movie. And that's coming from a guy who didn't hate Genisys.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I thought it was good, although the last few scenes weren't really needed. Fine movie otherwise. Would have loved a sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Does the original timeline still exist in Gynesis?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No. Genisys is its own thing that disregards all but the first movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Strange Days was a great movie. Technology is outdated, but who cares.

8 years ago | Likes 120 Dislikes 1

And it was directed by Kathryn Bigelow. Most people were shocked to find that out

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'm actually more shocked about the crap she directed since she got an Oscar. Nothing but Propaganda flicks straight from the Pentagon.(1)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

(2) While in the 90s and early 2000s she actually did awesome movies. Point Break, Strange Days, K-19: the Widowmaker… All great films.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Agreed. Her early work was great.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Well.... the story is kinda outdated too. I mean… welcome to the New years eve of 2000. LOL. But yeah, timeless 90s cyber-tech flick.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

After watching it I was pretty impressed that i'd never even heard of it. But it did come out at an unfortunate time.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I loved the concept of recording your sensory space. The rest of the movie was okay.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Unrelated but “The Blood of Heroes’s” Rudger Hauer was the basis for Guts from Berserk’s character design. #the_more_you_know

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Angela Bassett is awesome

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

RIP MiniDisc®

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sony Should have used MD & HiMD for the PSP instead of the shit UMD >_> If they did MiniDisc would have had a much longer lifespan.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I follow a guy on YouTube who was still using MiniDisc in 2013...

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I loved the ninth gate. I find myself watching it every time I see it on. I know how it ends but I can’t stop. Excellent excellent movie.

8 years ago | Likes 99 Dislikes 2

Excellent score.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

One of my favorites.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same. That and Apt Pupil. Like those two a bunch.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

+1 for Apt pupil

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Me too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

The Devil's Advocate. Al Pacino, Keanu Reeves, Charlize Theron. If you haven't seen it, you should.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

The glass scene fucked me up so bad when I saw it as a kid

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The church scene

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I haven't seen it forever

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Same. It's slightly dark and adventurous, running around the old world. Love that movie.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I had no idea people didn't like the 9th Gate. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

It's a really good film, but because it's such a slow and subtle burn, I can see where it'd lose some viewers.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Never heard of it. Ima watch that bad boy. I love imgur this type of stuff

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

what do you mean "i know how it ends"? You make it sound like it ended bad. Would have loved a ninth gate 2. Definitely more they could do.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh the ending was great. I love rewatching when you realize who “she” actually is.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

If you really understand the end of 9G, you'd realize it can't have a sequel.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Im guessing id have to be familiar with the bible? i can make a guess then. but id also say that "just because the bible says it, doesnt 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

make it true". So there is no reason you couldnt have a number 2 anyway.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I love Hudson Hawk

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

that movie is fuckin great! i mean, it's awful, but its great!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked Elysium, though the idea that in order to use an exo suit you need it drilled onto your body is a little off putting

8 years ago | Likes 398 Dislikes 7

Kind of reminds me of The Surge.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

... drilled through your clothes too.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And you can’t change clothes at all anymore...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mean, thats how you would do it *cheaply*

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Always upvote Elysium

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Robot fights, modified steampunk-esque AK's that shoot time-delay explosive rounds, the tech in this movie fascinated me. Oh, & centrifuge!

8 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 1

I loved the laser cutter thing that he had to cycle through the different shapes to find one that would cut off the door.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I liked when his face got blown off with a grenade

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

And then rebuilt by that 3d face printer thing!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The fact that they just pull out bits of brain when putting the suit on was just dumb. Just like, "Oh yeah, none of this shit matters."

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Jodie Foster is there worst female actress known to man. She infuriates me.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeah but he was gonna die anyways, so...

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I think they mentioned in movie that was because it was an older model and they couldn't get the nicer new ones that didn't need drilling

8 years ago | Likes 200 Dislikes 0

I believe that they did say that, I just couldn’t remember exactly

8 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 2

As a side note, the New suit the mercenary used was bolted into implants...So...It looks more like the bolts are to Prevent Fractures, in 1/

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

that they keep the pilot's body in-line with the exoskeleton much better and more securely than straps could. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

Weird, considering we have those right now.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Need it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, the movie has its own universe.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I read that response in Jake from state farms voice

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

HA!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I couldn't understand anything that one guy was saying.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Basically that he liked the movie

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

That’s racist *ding*

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Sharlto Copley? District 9, hardcore Henry, Elysium? Is that who you’re talking about

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ya that guy.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He does have a very strange accent. I love him in all 3 movies mentioned, still.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He’s South African. Pretty thick accent haha

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is the thin red line hated? I thought it was critically well received; I think it's one of the best war movies made.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 3

It's not popular with most people. Yes it was critically acclaimed, but I don't think that makes it popular. I like it because it's cerebral

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Critically loved, outside of that not really. I hated it myself.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I spent the whole movie thinking 2 of the main characters where the same person. I was very confused for most of it.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's a cinephile nerdgasm, but it's not relevant to warbuffs or philo-fans. It's inaccurate and the moral issues are cliché.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Oppositely I felt like it did have something new to offer the war genre, that hasn't been repeated since, but to each his own!

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The question was whether it was well regarded or not. It was based on a novel, Gripe with the novel, not the movie, if history matters.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Mallick didn't respect the book at all. I will gripe with Mallick.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was a meandering turd of a film, in my opinion. And they shoehorned in too many unnecessary cameos. Not clever, just dross.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

That's all of Malick's work though. You either love it or hate it.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Totally. It's the only malick film I like, and the least malicky of them.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm sorry but Prometheus was good. I think people didn't like it because despite saying it would only be tangentially related to Alien>

8 years ago | Likes 170 Dislikes 34

Love Prometheus and my Brometheus in the film.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Or, you know, the plotholes?

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Top 3 movie 4me; I loved the whole concept of where we came from & mythology of the Aliens; some parts were clunky, but visually amazing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I loved it still do, only gripe was that the movie was ass numbingly long only for 3rd act to be rushed. Like they forgot about the alien

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The whole shitstorm happened because the FUCKING CARTOGRAPHER got lost. That's my gripe.

8 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

The problem with Prometheus was it simultaneously tried to be a direct prequel to Alien while trying not to be a direct prequel to Alien.

8 years ago | Likes 34 Dislikes 4

Lol dude ive never heard someone put it like this. But you nailed it.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I've studied all the films closely. Ran an Alien fan site for over 10 years.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Haha those in-helm face lights though.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

The aliens when moving fast we're obviously just fast forwarded. Like even the background objects moved faster. Killed it for me.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damon Lindelof is a scourge on science fiction in modern cinema. Remove the "prequel" aspect and it was still a bad movie with great C.G.I.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Prometheus sucked because Damon lindelof writes mazes with no exits.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

What about Charlize trying to Indiana Jonse-ing the rolling spaceship donut?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Inaccurate portrail of a geologist.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Lol my flatmate said she wouldn't watch it cause it was too 'scifi' but 'loved the other alien movies'. I had no words

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The genre of Science Fiction would be non-existent if it wasn’t for smart characters making dumb decisions.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

I politely disagree. Science-fiction can be about exploration, discoveries, etc. without every one of their actions being illogical

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Prometheus was the first Alien-series movie I saw, and still didn't like it cause dialogue seemed a bit fake. I get why ppl like it tho

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I fully checked out when they started with the Space Jesus shit. "No, that's stupid, stop it." "But, we've got 23 hours of movie left."

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I liked Prometheus as well

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I liked it and thought covenant was a letdown as a sequel

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People didn't like it because most of the problems were artificially created by a retarded exploration team that had no proper protocols

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You're the reason they're making a 43254235th Transformers movie.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I think it’s much more enjoyable as a stand alone sci fi movie. Once you try to weave it into the Alien franchise do people begin to gripe

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 4

I agree

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even standalone it was terribly written for the characters. Not one made a logical decision for supposedly being outstanding in their field

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I gripe because every character was a moron.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Except Alien, Space Jesus. At least he had the sense to just off himself in the cold open and avoid the rest of the film.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I only dislike it because of the Prometheus school of running away from things. Could've run slightly to the right instead of being a moron.

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

This is probably the only scene that's really hard for me excuse. Kinda pulled me out of it. But great scene tho.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have a remarkable capability for tolerance and this alone was not enough to ruin an otherwise good movie for me.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

To be fair, after everything they'd gone through, I can't blame them for panicking and booking it in the opposite direction.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Prometheus was great until the whole xenomorph thing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

i really liked prometheus. alien: covenant was a humongous piece of shit letdown though. i wanted to know more about shaw, but they just--

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

--discarded her like she's boring old news. AND THEN THIS OTHER CREW GETS TO THE PLANET AND THE CREATORS ARE ALL GONE AND DEAD WTF.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I thought Prometheus got more flak than it deserved, but I also thought Covenant was pretty good.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Totally agree with you ! It was a big let down to know that Shaw had been killed by fucking fassbender!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They destroyed the second one...

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

It looks fantastic and has some great moments but the script was a damn mess.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 56 Dislikes 6

It and alien covenant are both prequels to alien. It just took covenant to complete the connection.

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

Well apparently it was also said that any sequels would diverge further away from Alien so I think backlash might have changed that. But>

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I liked both. My only complaint about Covenant was we didn’t get more of 2nd Ripley. Fassbender has become essential to the franchise 1/

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

For me though, so going forward if there’s no Fassbender then I’ll probably have an issue.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Good news! Ridley Scott has said he wants the next movie to be focused on David, and be about the 'world' he builds.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He is sooo very good as god. I mean David.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love Prometheus and covenant, they give some background on the xenomorphs and show more to the universe than just us

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

It may be me, but I preferred the xenomorphs as this entity that was scary because we didn't know where it came from.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Technically, they weren’t called xenomorphs until james Cameron decided alien should be more action & not horror.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Two words: Michael Fassbender

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Michael fuckin Fassbender

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, it was pretty bad. You like it, fine, but the script was REPLETE with astonishingly bad "science" and functionally retarded characters.

8 years ago | Likes 25 Dislikes 8

So, the original Alien then?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Like star wars, that's closer to "no science." The only not-known-to-be-possible thing in that movie is cryosleeep

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

"Look at this space-vagina-worm. Imma touch it because it's BEAUTIFUL!" DON'T TOUCH THE ALIEN LIFEFORM, YOU UTTER KNOBJOCKEY!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Bad science is everywhere in Hollywood, why judge this one differently?

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

2 totally different beings (one of the more ridiculous examples)

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

1 Difference of degree. There's lazy/no research and then there's not even understanding basic concepts, like identical DNA somehow making

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Wait, what? The black ooze isn't "DNA." It's an alien engineered pathogen that mutates DNA.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Not the "roll for random effect" goo. They state the engineers share human DNA.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

I liked it when the characters weren't being fucking idiots.

Meh. Bad character choices to give us great scenes are what horror films are built on. Plus I loved watching their personalities unfold.

a lot better than its sequel though. Covenant was even more ridiculous from that perspective, my god

Like running 200m exactly in the direction that something is rolling, when going 20m sideways would avoid the trouble?

so none of it?

I've never understood people saying that about this and not Black Mirror.

So all of the movie than? Because that never happens

That was by far my biggest gripe about it. I would've been far more impressed if they were smart and careful and still got ded

That guy acting foolish around a clearly hostile lifeform

"Hmm alien planet...LEMME TAKE OFF MY HELMET AND FROLIC OH NO THAT DIDN'T GO WELL"

One thing that bothered me is that the guy who gets attacked has his helmet on. 1/2

IIRC, Cinemasins pointed out that just because there’s air, doesn’t mean that it’s safely breathable

Trained scientists removing their helmets in an unknown environment for starts.

My fan theory was that they were all fucking useless mumpties sent out because losing them would be a net gain for mankind.

We're you blinking through the entire movie? Because that was the part, where everyone was being fucking stupid.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 6

He's saying he blinked and missed the part where they WEREN'T being stupid. Because it must have been such a small part.

Yep, not too proud to admit, I made this mistake as well.
