The thing I struggle with the most with this is why these people even care. I don't think someone changing their gender has ever hurt me in the slightest. I never even think about it. I understand that these people are stupid and need a target for hatred, but there are much better targets... I guess that's not in the interest of the machine though.

I remember seeing somewhere that the number of people this actually affects: trans individuals who had their gender identifier changed on their DL, is only about 300. In a state with a population of over 3 Million. They spend billions of dollars just to severely inconvenience and punish roughly 300 completely innocent people.

Any protest which can be safely ignored is useless. Less than useless if it takes energy away from actual, effective resistance.

Not gonna lie, it has been helpful to me when doing patient registration at the hospital, and to those who say *Just ask", you don't always get that opportunity when somone is actively dying and many people take serious affront to me asking about their race, let alone gender.

It's a leftover from before licenses had photos, when physical description was all you had to go by to be sure the person presenting the license was the person named on it. Height, weight, eye color, hair color, race, were all common physical descriptors on licenses. Many of them are gone now, especially "race". With a photo you no longer need any physical description at all.

That wouldn't make sense, because the amount it's offset would be different depending on where the person is standing. If they are no offset, it should give the accurate height for someone in the doorway, which is probably the most reliable way to do it.
