We’ve gone through several iterations of Pumpkin Pie’s cone. We tried stretchy tape, baby onesies, and finally figured out that a collar woven through the cone’s loops was the way to go. She slept in my bed last night and my cats Madison and Scooty Booty were rightfully freaked out. But it appears as though Punkin has learned to deal with it. Now we just gotta figure out how to stop Lizzie from licking Punkin’s wound. It’s not gonna heal, Lizzie!!

My goodness, punkin has given me so much encouragement over the past weeks. It’s been a bit of a wild ride, but to see her persevere has been worth it. I’m so glad you welcome her to sleep with you and we are all so grateful for all you’ve done for her and the others, @OP

Time to put another cone on Lizzie.

Poor Pumpkin Pie, and poor @OP. But this will do a good job of keeping it in place! I know from my experience at the shelter... Now, off to a swift and thorough recovery!

Aw, Liz is trying to care for her, but she is not a doctor and only has one part time brain cell

Cone? What cone?
Szwejkowski
Nice to see her so full of beans! Hope you got your cone on too.

One of my cats managed to trod across my keyboard and downvote this by accident. Maybe they're jealous, somehow? Don't worry, I corrected their mistake.

Lizzie, honey, I know you're trying to help but you're really not

She doesn’t appear to let it get in the way of her play. Lizzie will always be Lizzie, and there’s a certain closeness between the two of them I believe. It’s as if they are grooming partners, a kind of understanding between them.😻😻

We got kitten pjs for our small girl when she got spayed. much better than a cone.

The cat wears the cone of shame!

Maybe try some liquid bandage on the wound? It's essentially super glue, but sort of forms a waterproof artificial scab to keep the wound clean and aid healing. If it's safe for humans, probably safe for kittehs, no? About $4 at any drugstore, and a bottle will last ages -- just make sure to close the lid tightly!
KittensForDays
Liquid bandage is the best!! I asked about something like that and the vet said we need to keep the wound uncovered so it can get air and heal. But we gotta figure out how to stop Lizzie from licking it. We’re work-shopping some ideas!

@op Can I suggest Swat? It’s made to keep flies out of farm animal wounds. Safe to put around wounds and smells nasty enough that other animals shouldn’t want to lick it

I will ask the vet about it, thank you!
