Sure this will die in user sub, with people telling me I am doing it wrong. But I have to say it. It's not ignorance or disagreement to how bad things are now. I just can't take seeing 7 of 10 posts in most viral about that doom because they don't use tags. I come here to escape some of it and have a good laugh. If this keeps up, I will just have avoid imgur along with the rest of social media.

If imgur starts auto tagging posts it'll be the first step to them suppressing political content they don't like or their ad customers don't like.
A little chaos is a good thing and helps prevent the awful owners of imgur from doing awful things with their platform.

You should still use them. It helps people who dont see your post during its stint in usersub or the fp to still search for them later.

A mandatory politics tag lets trolls find all political posts, creates echo chambers like realpolitics, truepolitics, magapolitics, etc, and turns the politics tag itself into a sub-community.
On top of that it enables coordinated algorithmic suppression of political tagged posts, or the ability to categorically deny a post to see the light of day by reporting it as improperly tagged forever.

And? You can’t force people to care. And you’re assuming people can’t or won’t get their news elsewhere. Considering at least 3 out of 5 political posts don’t provide sources or lack additional context, it takes extra work to verify things as being actually true. I don’t get my news here, I have separate apps for that and anyone sane wouldn’t use this app as their primary news source.
All you’re doing is being an asshole. Tag the posts, then those who actually care can do things with it.
