Guinevere broke her window perch rated for 80 lbs.

I checked the item description “Ultimate Cat Perch – No Hanging Wires & Stronger for Increased Reliability (holds 80 pounds)”

I got my 8lb cat one and i can vouch that he sat on it 11 times and it broke. Can confirm it can hold ONLY UP TO 80 lbs. Cumulatively.

Damn boi, she THICC

Guinevere has a puma glare. She's a big cat at heart.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

She is a Chausie cat, jungle cat hybrid

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have never seen suction cups actually be reliable before, that's the most amazing thing about this.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was thinking the same thing. I can’t keep suctioned cups suctioned to save my life.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and absolutely no fucking regrets in that face either

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Poor Guinevere and poor @OP - she doesn't look ready to give that up at all!

5 years ago | Likes 78 Dislikes 0

She loves her perch, there’s a birds nest just outside( don’t worry she can’t get the birds)

5 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

Such a pretty girl, @OP Abyssinian?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Guinevere is a Chausie Cat(Jungle cat/Abyssinian hybrid)?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She's stunning! Thanks for clarifying

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Obviously, Guinevere didn't read the description

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

*Holds 80 lbs if not broken

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

TBT, it didn’t say 80 pounds “all at once”.

5 years ago | Likes 157 Dislikes 0

Yeah, suction cups say more like *8 lbs once daily for maybe 10 days if you're lucky...

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Maybe so, but the suction cups are still attached. The front part of the frame of the bed broke.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I'd be more worried about the glass. What would it be rated for?

5 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

It’s double insulated and metal reinforced.

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 1

Probably R for language and gratuitous violence.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably less than that.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Looks to be pvc pipe? If so you might be able to splice it. Said splice may actually be stronger than it was previously.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was going to cut a new piece and reinforce

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Either way, don't let her down. Lookit that face, lol.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Muscles is heavy stuff

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Awwww fix it dad!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He’s not handy but I am

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

She's beautiful

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Thank you?

"If you make a fat joke, I will take a tiny shit in your slipper." --Cat, probably.

5 years ago | Likes 277 Dislikes 1

Yeah. She is not happy about this turn of events.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Tiny?

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Cat reserves the right to define “tiny” however she wants

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Tiny means sneaky. Sneaky means it won't be apparent until foot slides in and smears it throughout the slipper.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Is it broken, or did the tubes come loose from each other? Also, suction cups? They make me nervous.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I checked when she finally got down, it’s broken

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Ah, that's too bad then.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I love you Guinevere

5 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Thank You?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're fat shaming that beautiful girl. Look at her face.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Ohhh poor Guinevere looks a lil devastated best of luck getting it replaced @op

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's the extra force jumping onto it. Just replace the PCV pipe, but fill it with a thin iron rod for extra support

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

80 pounds my ass.

5 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

@OPs mom’s ass also.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

CHONK

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Warranty?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I’m going to call tomorrow

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Guinevere looks PISSED

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

That’s her all the time

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Made in China maybe? Their pounds aren't the same as ours. /s

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

Yeah because they're kilograms.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

1) there s a difference between static and dynamic loads. A cat large jumping onto this is more than 80lbs of force. 2) that's Sch 40 PVC.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

*large cat jumping (and there's no way unpressurized schedule 40 PVC will hold 80 lbs across the middle.)

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I’ll reinforce correctly when I fix it

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

PVC pipe. Looks home made. Super easy to fix. Go to Lowe’s.

5 years ago | Likes 813 Dislikes 2

Just use duct tape

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

May be easy to fix but also eady to just claim a faulty product and get a replacement

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Probably made in where else, China!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

No, no, no, niBBa. I won't have that. go to Home Depot. Leave those poor homies at Lowe's ALONE.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Because its ceo is a POC

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And maybe fill the tube with a stick of wood or similar for additional strength

5 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 1

Of course a stick of wood! Stick of dynamite wouldn't be so smart. Make sure to soak stick of wood in logs first though.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You sir (or madam ) just made my morning ?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Actually purchased because it said would hold 80lbs., I’m going to try to fix with pvc

5 years ago | Likes 181 Dislikes 0

Put a piece of wooden dowelling inside the broken pipe, good as new.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

did you perhaps...purchase this from a poorly made ad and website with a 10-20 business day delivery time from China?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

80 pounds sitting.. not an 80 pou d jumping on it.. weight goes up with force and speed

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

2 possible reason: 1. Obviously it's defective. 2. You assembled it wrong

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Holding weight and chonk with unrealised jump expectations are two very different stats !

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How much did you pay for it?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

$44

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good lord.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Make sure you got to Lowe's and not Home Depot.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Totally agree

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Or just go to whichever is closest since they're pretty much identical for non-tradesman shoppers.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Their CEOs are very different people. Turns out, shopping at Home Depot supports fascism.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It might have just slipped out of a coupler joint. It’s hard to tell

5 years ago | Likes 103 Dislikes 2

I checked when she finally got down, it’s broken

5 years ago | Likes 89 Dislikes 1

Use a metal tube

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Heavier and it might not hold with suction cups in the window. It's a simple fix with pvc. For it to broke it was cheap plastic.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Might have cracked during shipping.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Damn! I have a similar PVC version but it has wires an suction cups that go above. That joint pops out all the time.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Bit of dowel would probably be an effective fix, though I'm not sure if that would be more or less expensive than replacing the pipe

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Well you dont have to buy solvent with the wood. Just whack it in.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Assuming the pipe isn't glued into the elbows, it's like <$1. Replacing the whole PVC frame would be like $5

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

*rebar

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Can we see pics of the brokeness?

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I like how you waited for cat to leave.

5 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 0

I'm gonna guess you don't own a cat.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She has Catitude?

5 years ago | Likes 71 Dislikes 0

Dude, it broke an 80lbs shelf. Your face isn't rated for 80lbs of unhappy kitty.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Great name for the kitty!

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Thank you?we have an Arthur and Lancelot too

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

We have a little Maine coon kitty coming soon. Kinda wanna put it out there for a name

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I had the most glorious Maine Coon we adopted when he was 14, Mr. E. Claire Sinclair. SPCA thought he was an unaltered female but went to 1

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

spay him and found he was a neutered male. They tried to rename him Frank but he'd already assoc. w/ Claire. We added the fancy bits of name

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Aww! I love that. I’ll put up a pic when we get our new family member in the first part of July.
