even if you don't care about file size limits, the dos filesystem is lacking many other features of modern FSs.

One of the other major FAT problems was that the bigger the hard drive was, the larger the minimum allocation size. So 1k file takes 32kb.

FAT is the old file storage system used by conputers. It couldn't handles files over 4 gigabytes.
