Some people were surprised that a raccoon would kill a chicken.

I was actually able to chase him off with snowballs and save this girl because I caught it in the act. It’s killed five previous to this attack though.

I'm a city girl and I'm surprised about that at all.

We had a raccoon kill my little sisters rabbit that was in a cage outside.

30 pound raccoon will kill cats and small dogs too. AND they're colony animals and are able to carry rabies & human transmissible parasites.

Raised chickens. They started disappearing. Raccoons were pulling them through the chain link fence. Chickens are dumb, wander too close

Need to raise your chickens better, mine killed a cat together.

you need a .22 solution. BTW, the evil .223 was developed as a varmint load.

Does he slap them before eating?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who dudnt like chicken!!??

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I honestly don't get the obsession with these little bastards. They're nothing more than nuisances.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

they've adapted in some places to kill cats now i hear

A raccoon will kill a cat if it has the chance. A chicken is easy game.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

They'll eat the barn cat's kittens if they get the chance easy peasy. They're opportunistic diners.

EAT MOR CHIKIN!

A chicken would eat a raccoon if given the chance. Seems fair,

I wonder how a raccoon would fair against an overly aggressive rooster with those metal cleats they use in cock fights

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you need to buy a .22

bait trap him take him far away and let him go

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Time for a trap, with banana peels and stuf cats/dogs won't mess with.

Those fuckers can be mean. We locked our coop up at night. Had to use an actual pad lock because they would figure it out.

Dang. I guess Filo really pissed of Raphtalia.

Trash panda's will kill and eat cats and small dogs too. And there's often more than one.

Feeding da family

Why would anyone be surprised. Wild animal who eats meat with stronger jaws/bite than any dog breed.

Momma providing for her kits?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have the same issues at my friends house. We lock the chickens at night but sometimes there's a dumb ass m.f That doesn't want to go in. 1/2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Installed sensor lights. Coons are smart, they know how to trip them. Change the location every few days. Pain in the ass 2/2

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Arm the chickens with guns. Problem solved.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Cows have guns... chickens have choppers

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you need to build a better coop and lock them in at night

7 years ago | Likes 213 Dislikes 0

They’re smart too. They always got around our attempts to keep them out.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you need to kill the rodent......

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Agreed, maybe you live in the city but out here, that’s what guns really are for. Spare my livestock for one dead raccoon

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We do but every so often one roosts somewhere odd, like a railing somewhere on the property, and we miss it. :(

7 years ago | Likes 77 Dislikes 1

Common causes of "independent roosting" are health issues or not enough roosting space in the coop.

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

How many do you have? I free range mine, but I've got 5, so it's pretty easy to track

7 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Around 20 now that we’ve lost some.

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

My aunt has similar issues with her chooks. 30+, and determined to roost in bad places.

Remember the raccoon hunting and carrying the iguana off...after removing its still flapping tail?

The tail wasn't his fault. Many lizards discard their own tail when being chased. Chances are the predator goes after the writhing tail ...

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

while they can escape. Their tail even grows back later. The raccoon was too clever to fall for it though.

So...purchase a firearm...lawfully of course

And if not legal where u are, a high powered pellet rifle would probably do the trick too if u hit the right spot

7 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Or a big cleaver tied onto the end of a broom handle

Ghetto halberd

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Can vouch for this. Personally killed some pests with a .22 cal pellet gun. Not fun if you don’t like to kill...not at all. :(

7 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

It's really not, I love raccoons but if they're fucking with my chickens they're gone

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In how many shots?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

More than I would have liked. And the first one was a head shot. :(. I though it would just drop. Nope.
