'New Mutants Pt. II' From X-Men #41

Seriously, if the mutant registration wasn't run by friggin nazis, there'd be no reason not to support it.

I never realized what a rough time Val Kilmer had growing up.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Thus ends the short career of the Premature Ejaculator.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

GODS OP! I've read this on various sites and I cry my eyes out EVERY time! TT____TT

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If he vaporizes every organic things around him, how can he have timber, beer, Mac food and such things? O_o?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

A city built on rock and roll would not be structurally sound

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

This is why wolverine's most notable quote is "I'm the best at what I do. But what I do isn't very nice."

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a fan film of this too http://vimeo.com/41530049

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks for the semi-sauce! Not the worst, but not the best haha.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No he's not.

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Wolverine's seen some shit...

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

He ded

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

this makes me seriously miss comics.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

It's especially upsetting because the poster on his wall says "be different" and has Logan on it on the 1st page. Ouch.

11 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Good eye...missed that.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Logan didn't kill him because of his dangerous mutant powers. He killed him because he was a Korn fan.

11 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 8

The я on the poster is the wrong way around!?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He hates the Punisher

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

and it was the right thing to do

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

tl;dr kid makes this face 8O

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

This makes me sad that I'm getting rid of all my old comics.. i have about 450 x-men comics that have been with me for 2 decades. :(

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should send them to me. I haven't read any of them but have a very intense desire to start!!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What is he, Rapture Man?

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 4

I laughed too hard

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He was killed by wolverine before he could become anything.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Holy crap, imagine if Apocalypse had gotten a hold of this kid.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Why didn't Professor X train him or why didn't Magneto seek him out for his battle with mankind?

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

In Avengers Arena there's a girl with a similar power that is controlled with a suit, but its in a different part of the multiverse.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Point is supposed to be you can't train him, it just happens, and it would kill Magneto's group as much as anyone else.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It's eventually revealed that Nick Fury sent Wolverine to deal with this situation. Xavier and Magneto might not have known.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I've read this twice, and I've often wondered if this wasn't the first time Logan has had to do something like this.

11 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

Considering there have been several cures, he never had to do this.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 5

Depends on which continuity you're in. Not every X-Men storyline had a cure.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He's been given a similar job before but he wasn't able to complete it. Got his ass handed to him before he could.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

She knew it was him that was killing everyone.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually I think she was replying to his "Because what?"

For anyone thats really into comics. is there a list or something somewhere that i can read to start (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

reading comics like this and stuff i'd really like to start but i have no clue where to start. (2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wikipedia is pretty good at listing collected editions of various titles.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Have been reading comics for 15 years. Send me a message with some characters you like and I'd be happy to help.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Message me if you want something else.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What exactly are you looking for? Do you want X-men? If so, I would recommend Astonishing X-men: Torn, Dangerous, and gifted.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

im looking for xmen, deadpool, batman/superman/justice league (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

really anything is interesting to me. (3/3)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Deadpool: Secret Invasion is a really good one. I also like Red Hood and the Outlaws. I've played the game Injustice: Gods Among Us 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

and it's amazing, but I haven't read the comics. I'll go through my collection and see if I can find some more I like.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

(ive been thinking about starting into on i think its called injustice its with superman as a bad guy or something like that), (2/3)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Deadpool: Suicide Kings, Justice League: Identity Crisis, and Fables is good if you've played The Wolf Among Us. It's about fairy tale 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

characters in a modern setting. It's not my favorite, but if you could get into it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What kid at that age doesn't know how to make himself a damn bowl of cereal.

11 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 5

you'd be surprised... ~ HS teacher

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Read deeper. All the organic material is destroyed.. Including the bananas. No milk, no cereal. etc

11 years ago | Likes 46 Dislikes 0

Reading deeper makes this more confusing. Organic material is anything that is, was, or came from a living thing. The house should be gone.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Organic material is anything that contains carbon...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's the definition of an organic compound. The definition of organic matter/material is as I stated.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, but would a pseudo-science pseudo-magic force really pay attention to material vs compound?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

But not his clothes or bedding, conveniently. Or any of the wooden materials.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

Wait but if it just disintegrates, why are the grass and trees still there, just dead?

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I'm not sure about at his home but at the school later if you look the tree and grass are wilting

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, trees and grass wilting. Bones, which are minerals and primarily inorganic matter..GONE!! Just writers goofing up.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

i just Googled "deus ex machina" and this isn't exaclty the right place for it, but i'm on busy schedule, might even start a new game of civ

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yes it is. Don't worry.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's how I remember puberty too. It hit overnight, occurred in 1 instant, and it hit like a ton of god damn bricks.

11 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 1

Mutant puberty?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

And apparently it happens when your around 17?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Oh, and I heard about it from a guy in a cave the next morning

11 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 0

Hahahah, this needs more attention. That was perfect.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

They need to stop calling Wolverine's regeneration a "healing factor". They've written him to basically be invincible and unkillable.

11 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 11

No. His is just a healing factor. He can and has been defeated multiple times. Died in a few universes. Deadpool is unkillable, wolv is not

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What about complete decapitation?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if you get through the adamantium then yes it would kill him atleast until some magic mutant/scientist fixed him

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Well, if you're lucky you could strike between vertebrae and hit no adamantium... technically... I think.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

maybe I'm not a doctor so I don't know I would just take the Deadpool route and stab him with a sword that negates healing factors

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But that's his shtick

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

deadpool kills him, and sabertooth with a carbonadium sword

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Wolverine is actually quite a weak mutant compared to most.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And in the movies he never ages...like they should've gotten Keanu Reeves instead of Hugh Jackman, cause Wolverine is practically a vampire.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

wolverines mutation isnt healing factor or regeneration... its survival.. plain and simple

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Well, that's the thing. It's changed over time, to make him more and more indestructible. At first he just "healed fairly quickly".

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Except he's dead.

11 years ago | Likes 81 Dislikes 1

Like OMG ded.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Like so dead.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He's the face of Marvel, you gotta protect your money-maker

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Except they just killed him off a few months ago. http://www.comicvine.com/articles/analyzing-the-death-of-wolverine/1100-150103/ For now.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

The only person in comics who stays dead is Uncle Ben.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I think they killed him off because of their rivalry with Fox.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yup!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He can drown I think. As long as you keep him submerged, that is.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

Apparently they did just that recently. Except they drowned him in adamantium. Crappy way to go :(

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

People seem to be missing the "keep him submerged" bit. It WILL kill him, it is how he died recently, and also how Logan killed his son. +1

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

They've shown him recover from drowning. That wouldn't kill him. :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It will if he's down long enough. Logan kills his son by drowning him.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Actually,in one of the latest X-Men movies he was submerged for quite a long time, and couldnt move because of rebar in his bones. he lived

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Total brain death being the key. If even a tiny portion of his brain survives, he'll regenerate. Logan kills his son via drowning, it works.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

oh man. why did he kill his son?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Daken is...*kindof* a dick. He also has some serious abandonment issues, etc. Joins the Omega Clan, goes against the X-Force. Fights (1)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Wolverine, dies, gets resurrected...all that good comic book stuff. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daken#Fictional_character_biography (2)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not unremovable though, he's popular so he sticks around but overall he's not that hard to deal with. Drop him down a crevasse, problem over

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I preferred him back before he became ridiculously popular. When he just "healed fast". Mystique planned to kill him by slitting his throat.

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

I guess I don't mind it, he's an interesting character even without all the powerups over the years. Granted I'm more of a Spiderman guy.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Complains about wolverine being ridiculous. Likes spiderman. Lol

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

They just went way, way overboard with adding onto his background and powers. It was overkill, imo.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Don't get me wrong I agree, I kinda wish they did more with how being destroyed on a regular basis would effect your mental state.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

to be fair, isn't he supposed to be reeeeeeally old?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

So, Wolverine kills a kid?

Yeah, but they have sex first, so the kid doesn't die a virgin.

11 years ago | Likes 172 Dislikes 5

Thank you.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

And Logan's ass heals like it never happened

11 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 0

Because as far as the world knows, it never did. The world must never know. They can't know!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I like this twist.

11 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 1

You stop that!

11 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Nice. Up vote for you.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Fun fact: He has actually killed his own biological children before. (OK maybe not fun but still a fact)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

That's an entirely different story arc than this though

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Beer was poison.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

if the kid destroyed organic matter, how did he have mcdonalds? how was the beer unaffected? lol

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Organic matter or McDonalds, pick one.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ha. but still

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I mean, he vaporized bananas earlier

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

The x-men don't really have issues with killing as long as its seen as a threat. Hell deadpool quit them due to that.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

x-factor* has no problem with killing people. Hell, kill one kid, or lose a hundreds of friends, which would you prefer? I would.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

sooooo deadpool is in a higher moral step stool than them!:?

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Apparently.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yes...basically. He draws a hard line at kids, at a minimum. See Uncanny X-Force. He is very irate over killing a child *Apocalypse*.

He would've killed everyone around him, then starved to death due to organic matter around him vaporizing. So Wolverine takes him out.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

The kid is saying how he never should have been born, and Wolverine agrees. Then the little *shink* is his claws coming out. he leaves alone

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

And the kid tells him to just do it because he knows it's coming

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The spllck is him opening his beer actually

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Oh oops

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably not the first time. He is perfect for eliminating problematic new mutants that would cause the government to release Sentinels.

11 years ago | Likes 375 Dislikes 0

i find it that he is the better of the options, since Prof X coulda just zapped him with cerebro.

11 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 1

I like how in AvsX he was supposed to do the same thing if Hope got out of control, but everytime he tries she torches his ass.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hopes fine. Spider Man is teaching her.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

That girl has been trained more than any super hero in the history of comics. Spider Man, Cyclops, Wolverine, Iron Fist, Cable etc.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

as not really a comic-book fan, this comic-book thing suddenly got interdast

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Check out this page http://deadpoolsupplier.imgur.com/ he has tons of comics for free.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

"interdast"?

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

kind of shitty

11 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 5

oh no doubt, Just stating how he is used as a weapon, Just like how the government wanted to use him.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This is one of those times where there's nothing you can really do other than what must be done. He's a character who's been hardened 1

11 years ago | Likes 49 Dislikes 0

by years upon years of war and agony that he's best suited for the job, and even he knows it. It's a fucked up lot he's been dealt.

11 years ago | Likes 38 Dislikes 0

But the whole concept of finding a cure in the comic is fought adamantly by the characters.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Yeah but if anyone found out a mutant did this, the sentinels would kill them all.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaah remember the shitty movie where Storm goes off on a tangent and tells rogue U FINE THE WAY U IZ GURL bitch sex is good

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

And yet every time the idea of a "cure" for mutantism is brought up in X-Men comics, it's treated with outrage.

11 years ago | Likes 504 Dislikes 14

They keep comparing them to Jews, Poles and blacks, but none of those people had a literal death field. There's a real need for regulation.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

"There's nothing wrong with us!" - Storm "Really? How about a handshake or get off my tits?" - Rogue in X3 if that movie weren't dumb.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Overtime theres a "cure", someone tries to weaponize it.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yes and now. They make the cure a necessity and they use it as punishment, every time.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

mfw tumblr is worse than magneto

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Because X-men were a gay metafore. You know, with shock treatments and "pray away the gay" groups.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 4

They dont want to cure the mutants, they want to experiment on them. And nobody can get near this kid to cure him anyway

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The cure doesn't cause outrage. The cure being forced on mutants is what causes the outrage.

11 years ago | Likes 69 Dislikes 0

I'm all good for that and for it being forced on some. I don't feel comfortable if a citizen has access to powers that can decimate a city.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

But the government can have power to destroy the earth...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Government is supposed to have power. Government run by the people for the people. Need power to protect.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But the people cant protect themselves?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

To a point. Right to bear arms is good. Being able to destroy a city or just a police force isn't protection. Too much power for one citizen

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Especially Wolverine, he calls some people weak for wanting the cure, and attacks Beast when he thinks he's going to use it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Mutants are allegorical to oppressed groups. In the 60s, they were blacks. From the 90s onward, gays. A "cure" for them is akin to(1/2)-->

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

-->a cure for being gay, hence the outrage.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Um, I know this, I wrote like a dozen comments about it in this thread yesterday. This is why it's a shitty allegory.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fair enough, fair enough.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's because they're not given a choice. It's practically forced on them and they're treated like horrible monsters for not taking it.

11 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

In recent years they've just opposed the unlawful mandate of a "cure"

11 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

If you like your mutation, you can KEEP your mutation!

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Because that was true of Obamacare... it's the fact that it might get (literally) rammed down someone's throat that spurs the opposition.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

Forcing me to pay a private company for health insurance is kind of shitty. I'd rather have full on socialized healthcare.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It might be a better situation healthcare wise, but it's the fact that it's still rammed down your throat that most folks object to.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Because its the next stage of human evolution, and just because its a difficult change doesn't make it a change not worth having.

11 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Well there are a few mutants with the power to change reality. Pretty sure that can be dangerous for the whole planet.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

that's not the way evolution works, they might become a new species (if they stop being able to breed with humanity) but not a "next stage"

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Adamantium also doesn't exist. It's not meant to be taken as evolution as we consider it.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

But the whole "mutants are a new species" thing is total bullshit. On that definition people with Huntington's Disease are a new species.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

You're right but for the wrong reason, they are not a new species because they can still breed with human beings.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Eh, species within a genus can usually interbreed no problem. We did it with Neanderthals.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is still the traditional definition (even though it often doesn't work with things like bacteria).

11 years ago (deleted Jan 13, 2015 9:50 PM) | Likes 0 Dislikes 0

Look it up. Huntington's is a HEREDITARY GENETIC MUTATION that guarantees a horrible early death.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 3

I don't even know what you're trying to argue. Does Wolverine have Huntington's? Sure, why not.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe mutants could try NOT telling people they want to accept them they're a different species all the time? Even Xavier is guilty of this.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Yeah, they are still human, they are just Human+. Still you don't "cure" someone of what is in their DNA.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Except these mutants have the X-Gene, which I imagine leads to something different than Huntington's.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

What X-Gene leads to is random/inconsistent. Sometimes, wings! Sometimes, everyone near you dies! (Good luck propagating the "new species!")

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well now that mutation of death around you won't propagate no worries!

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

There's also the different types of mutants, not everyone wants a cure, and some people would just wanna manage the symptoms.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Actual for-real no-kidding optional cure? Yeah that's good. Forcing every mutant to be "cured" or registered-for-totally-not-future-use? No.

Kind of like X-Men 3, oh no, I better kill Jean Grey to stop this, if only there were some sort of...cure...for mutants...

11 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

It's kinda hard to cure something that's in the DNA.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

The process is called gene splicing, and in sci fi (not dissimilar from comics) is used to cure things in the DNA.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The cure was only temporary, and Pheonix Jean is one of the most powerful mutants. She's less a person and more a force of nature.

11 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 1

To be fair, that is near universally regarded as an AWFUL movie.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

I thought it was okay. Worse than the first two, but had its moments.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

...I don't know whats dumber I never realised this or the director never thoight of it

11 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 1

They even use the "cure" on Magneto later on, there were vials of it strewn literally everywhere around them, haha.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Too late for a cure, after killing an entire town it will spark all out war, even if it never happened again. Wolverine literally says it.

11 years ago | Likes 142 Dislikes 7

I know they can't cure this specific kid. I am just pointing out for a lot of mutants being a mutant sucks.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I'm not talking about this guy's specific case, a cure for mutants in general.

11 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 0

Part of the problem is who decides who gets it? Will be people be forced to be cured? And it could be weaponized against the X-Men.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if i killed everyone i touched like rougue i would want a cure. if i could control lightning i wouldnt want a cure. depends on the mutation.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

If I had Meg Griffin's fingernails power from that one Family Guy episode, I'd love that power.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Of course. But because mutants are a metaphorical stand-in for minority groups, the idea of any mutant wanting to be cured (1/)

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

screws up the "Everybody should be accepted for who they are" message, even though it would be reasonable for some mutants to want (2/3)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The X-Men are the lucky few who got cool/useful mutations. For many/most mutation probably ruins their lives.

11 years ago | Likes 63 Dislikes 1

"I have a mutation and all I got was this lousy tumor!"

11 years ago | Likes 43 Dislikes 0

Problem is Marvel set mutants up as the stand-in to make points about minorities and socially disadvantages groups.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Not really? There is a whole sewer full of morlocks who have crippling or horrible mutations and they are part of a lot of plots.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The central issue is that mutants as a metaphor for minorities doesn't really work, because jews can't shoot laser beams from their eyes

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

So if you have a "cure" for being a mutant Tumblr types would say it's "problematic."

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

So if minorities makes to much trouble just kill them?

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

Once read a really interesting breakdown on this from someone who really knew X-Men. Something about how though Xavier tries to make it look

11 years ago | Likes 679 Dislikes 3

I have comics where Xavier pretty much imprisoned sentient Shi'ar tech so he could train the x-men. It was the danger room. She tries to 1/2

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

kill the x-men and "father" (Xavier), and the x-men pretty much tell him to go fuck himself and walk away.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

to live and Xavier recognizes this. If I remember right, Wolverine didn't do this on his own but was the only one who would. B/C he (4)

11 years ago | Likes 366 Dislikes 9

Xavier also sent a young team to go save his original team, and they all ended up dying. Moira was pissed because she was training them.

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

kids, not something people acknowledge or remember. Goes beyond the "everyone is inherently" good and into some people are too dangerous (3)

shit you're cool

killed people when he didn't understand his own abilities. (5)

11 years ago | Likes 347 Dislikes 9

Wolverine has been killing people for a really long time as a soldier and in the weapon x program...

11 years ago | Likes 31 Dislikes 0

Yes, but if I remember right he also killed on accident when his abilities first came.

11 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

His mom... and then his dad

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I get the feeling Deadpool would have not even thought about it

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Incorrect. See "The Apocalypse Solution" in Uncanny X-Force.

11 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

couldn't they have put him in some radiation proof suit to prevent the radiation from leaking

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Wasn't really radiation, it was toxins and acids that eat organic material (like sulfuric). It would probably have to be a glass bubble.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I say glass because it wouldn't react with organic acids and is relatively inert. Not much of an existence, but they didn't have to kill em.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And then be able to control his ability. I think having the power to instantly vaporise organic material would come in handy

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Since no one knew he did it, why not cure the kid and let him attempt a normal life. Of course the stacks against that are high.

11 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

you cant cure him from his mutant ability. its not that easy

11 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

couldn't they have put him in some radiation proof suit to prevent the radiation from leaking

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It's like diarrhea, man, it runs in your jeans

11 years ago | Likes 30 Dislikes 1

This was released in March 2004, four months before Astonishing X-Men started the "Cure" story line.

11 years ago | Likes 44 Dislikes 0

This also takes place in what is known as the "Ultimate" universe, which was separate from the "normal" universe in which the cure was made

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

True, but there were power nullifiers for decades before that. Forge nullified Storm's powers years ago, and Genosha had inhibiter collars.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

If you like that kind of thing, you would enjoy The Blade Itself (first book of trilogy) by Joe Abercrombie

11 years ago | Likes 52 Dislikes 4

My favorite series.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Boop

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh man, I loved the first law trilogy. I'm reading "Best Served Cold" right now.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have those on my kindle because the reviews looked good but I never heard anyone mention it before. Guess It'll be up after Mystborn. :)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Nice. Mistborn was excellent. If you really want to dive deep, do the Malazan book of the Fallen series.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

<3 Thanks! I love suggestions :)

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Both are great reads. Also completely different in style. If you like mistborne you should check out Storm light archive afterwards.

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

"You have to be realistic."

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Now that's another interesting 'Logan' right there... together with bald 'professor'.

11 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Observation points ++

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Please tell me the name of the next book and whether he's finished that story arc

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Before they are hanged. "That" arc is done, but there is definitely followup - however he's on these single book tangents for some reason...

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

annoying when shit is left unfinished. cough grrm cough

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You know he's doing a different series now right? The Shattered Sea>

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Really!? gah! killing me here

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2 is Before They Are Hanged, 3 is The Last Argument of Kings. All are fantastic!

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yup, all done.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Commenting for book list keeper, thank you.

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

thank you. i must now go to a bookshop

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also set in the same world - Best Served Cold, Red Country and Heroes. They're like follow ups.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

oh SWEET. i'm gonna get these pronto...thanks! :D

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

as though he is trying to save them all, he's not the saint nor almighty power of the X-Men people think he is. Sometimes he has to kill (2)

11 years ago | Likes 499 Dislikes 3

Have you read the part where they open up his Last Will & Testament? Also, does killing when it's absolutely necessary actually make (1/2)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

him less of a saint? If it's to protect the mutant race? And the human race? And everything else on the planet? (2/2)

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It comes up later that this particular task was given to Wolverine by Nick Fury without Xavier knowing. Your point still stands though.

11 years ago | Likes 68 Dislikes 0

Its been a while since I read this run, but wasn't Prof X already dead at this point?

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Ah, my mistake. Thanks.

11 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

He was part of the group that sent hulk to space and essentially started world war hulk

11 years ago | Likes 100 Dislikes 0

that was not the intention, they were going to send him a a relly nice planet with no one to hurt, but a wormhole hit him

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

The intention itself was fucked up

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

no, he was hurting himself and everyone else. he could have destroyed the plantet. he always wanted to be left alone he said so

11 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

actually he didn't vote on that, it was a plot point when Hulk came back and he ended up asking Chuck how he would have voted.

11 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Yeah, he was gone during the vote but he said he would have agreed to it.

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

He didn't tho. Him, Namor and Black Panther refused to take part in the whole sending me to space thing. We are cool, me and baldy.

11 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 2

He didn't refuse to take part. He just wasn't there. He said that he agreed with the decision to send hulk off planet

11 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

But he didn't make the decision, that is what I meant to say. Namor outright refused, he even fought iron man I think at that meeting. (1)

11 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Fuck. Felt nostalgic now. Might have to re read the damn thing. (2)

The illuminati: Reed Richard, Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, Charles Xavier. The leader of each group.

11 years ago | Likes 45 Dislikes 0

Captain America was also part of the Illuminati at first, until he thought they went to far.

11 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Knowing Cap, I'm guessing that lasted all of 5 minutes?

11 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Namor (Atlanteans) and Black Bolt (Inhumans) as well.
