I have always been adamant about not freely comparing everything to nazis, because it weakens the power of the label. But when they are acting like literal nazis, call them nazis.
I recited the Nazis at the Table story, and someone accused me of Godwin's Fallacy... Even though I wasn't calling anyone a Nazi (not even indirectly) much less the person I was talking to.
It's amazing how often republicans throw out infinite insults, but the second you disagree with them or throw one back they block you. Ive been block by around 95% of the Nazi republicans ive interacted with here. And its almost always after they respond to me too. So I never get to read their response beyond the first few words.

That was back in the 90s/00s, when the idea of a Nazi resurgence in popularity seemed so stupid as to be inconceivable

And the general consensus was, when someone called the other guy a Nazi - the other guy had won the argument.

Because arguing against carpool lanes with "you know the Nazis told Germans to carpool" shows you've run out of steam.

Who is Mike Godwin talking about here? Trump and his cohorts or the Israelis?
JustLettingPeopleBeWrong
Yes.

I had hoped both but his postings on X are not publicly availabel so I couldn't check.

I rarely hear the holocaust come up when I hear the word nazi used these days though.

Did you tell them that Godwin's law isn't a fallacy it's an observation?
