In short, over a year ago we decided to post Cygnus on /r/askavet and imgur asking for help. We were getting worried about the length of his tail. Well, while the vets weren't worried, people found him pretty amazing and he immediately went viral!

Guinness World Records immediately took note of how impressive his tail was (apparently they browse the internet looking for talent) and asked us to do an official measurement. Well...we did, and he absolutely crushed the record. When they came to our home to do the pictures and filming, they also discovered Arcturus, our monstrously huge Savannah Cat!

As it would turn out Arcturus was the tallest cat to ever live as well. Interestingly, each cat broke the record at only slightly over a year old, and still continue to grow, pushing the records farther and farther every day! They each hold both the "Ever" record as well as the "Living" record.

We've had to keep all this secret for over a year, and today, the news was finally released! Arcturus is in the Main 2018 GWR book, and Cygnus got a huge 2 page spot in the GWR 2018 Amazing Animals book. Pick up a copy and check them out!

Arcturus Aldebaran Powers is an F2B Savannah cat bred by Stacee Dallas of Starfell Savannahs in Traverse City MI (He's the Son of Myst and Dream). Cygnus Regulus Powers is a Maine Coon bred by Katherine Greenman of Wildchild Maine Coons in Jackson MI.
The probability of one family having two separate all time world records on two totally different unrelated animals of different breeds is astronomically small. However it was no accident. Despite the popular method of the, "Organic/Raw/All-Natural" diet recommended nowadays, our boys were raised on GMO-ridden, synthetic, chemical based diets that I designed for them to eat since kittenhood. I admit this because natural is not always better. We’re super pro-science people. Both my wife and I are doctors, and biochemistry, healthy eating, and real hardcore evidence-based science is in our blood.
Besides being amazing, Arcturus and Cygnus are truly healthy animals, and I’m sure this non-traditional diet is the reason:
I literally cooked chicken for days in a slow cooker until it was totally degenerated to individual strands of myofibrils. These easily digested chicken shreds were mixed with a mineral/vitamin powder I compounded, along with purified calcium and phosphorus, long chain fatty acids, carotene, ect ect. I also obtained purified synthetic Levo-taurine, Levo-lysine, and other amino acids essential to cats which were then added to the mix. This cocktail tastes truly terrible, and so it was ground into plain old delicious Meow Mix or Friskies wet food for flavoring. In addition, Royal Canin kitten food was fed to them continuously from kittenhood until today with 24/7 availability. They have never known hunger, but they prefer their wet food science experiment to dry food. This dry kibble was chosen as it has the highest protein to carb ratio of all the dry options.
There is a lot more to be released in the coming weeks including video interviews and further photos. The books hit the stores today! Expect both cats to be doing meet and greets in the coming weeks and signing “Pawtographs” in exchange for donations for the Ferndale Cat Shelter of which I’m the current president.
Arcturus and Cygnus are wonderful cats, but they live at home with their brother Sirius Altair Powers. Sirius doesn’t have any world records, but he’s a wonderful rescue cat I’ve had for almost a decade. He sleeps between us every night, and is the most affectionate cat I’ve ever seen. Rescues like the Ferndale Cat Shelter, or Great Lakes Bengal Rescue, work incredibly hard to give cats like Sirius a better life. So, please do come out and meet the boys at upcoming events we have in Michigan and support the charity work we do!
