idk about you but I'd forget that moment in about a day.

I got to see a presidential motorcade. I recorded it and believe it or not I was able to watch it with my eyes at the same time.\

As someone who used to only live in the moment, its a lot nicer having pictures to look back at.

"I don't get technology and I need to feel superior somehow" - OP

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't know those other guys look pretty happy to me.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Meh I have a horrible memory so taking pictures really helps me remember amazing things and organize them in my head.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think it's a contradictory to say that anyone who wants to photograph a moment is not paying attention to it.

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 1

Top comment every time this was reposted: Shit! I forgot my phone

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Taking a photo takes 3 Second. Live in the moment all the other seconds. God this is stupid.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Just because a different generation enjoys something in a slightly different way doesn't necessarily make it any less meaningful to them

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

But it doesn't beat criticizing how others live their life. THAT'S the best!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Tbf the old bitch got a front row seat, I'd be the short fuck who couldn't see without my phone, like 60-70% of those people

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

plot twist: that lady's been dead for 45 minutes. the crowd will snap pics with their phones of the EMTs carrying her off

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I have a bad memory. I love that I can take lots of pictures easily at moments in my life that I want to remember.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or, hey, try not being a fucking pedant and let people enjoy things how they want to enjoy them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

While it's true that making photos with your phone makes you less receptive to the actual situation, I usually get around that by first 1/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

snapping a few photos, then putting my phone away and enjoying the moment. 2/2

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's nice , I like this

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

i hardly ever take pictures on vacation. too much hassle and too much excitement in the moment

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

or you can do whatever the fuck you want

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

She doesn't have any friends left to show the pictures to.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I know moments like these will be captured in HD for news stations, why do i need a crappy video of my own...

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

You can do both fucking dipshit

9 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 3

Yeah, sure you can

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 20

NO I HATE NEW THINGS

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Indeed. I take maybe 1 or 2 pictures, then put the phone away and enjoy the moment.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Yeah because all of those other people look so miserable here /s

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Or you can do both like the woman in blue who has her phone out but isn't staring into it to see if she's getting a good shot?

9 years ago | Likes 95 Dislikes 2

But, but I want to be pretentiously judgmental of these sheeple!

9 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

I started doing that. If my daughter is on stage at a school, I make sure I'm all lined up then record a video and watch with my eyes.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 1

How often do you watch the video? Honest question.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

A couple times after taking it. And I my daughter might want to watch it herself. But that's about it.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

...by some guy who decided to photograph the woman rather than "living in the moment"

9 years ago | Likes 305 Dislikes 8

*by some guy who is probably getting paid to photograph the event*

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

OP clearly didn't take this picture, Idk what you're talking about

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 24

Thats not the point

9 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 3

The point is invalid and dumb as hell. You don't know that the person taking the picture made the caption.

I always hated that picture, freeman just looks like such a smug asshole in it.

Says the person taking pictures of the old lady on their smartphone

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

You really think OP took this picture himself?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You really think OP put the text with the photo?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably neither

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Right. OP has nothing to do with it, and nobody is suggesting otherwise.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Except their wording DOES suggest that

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I agree, but the point of the smartphone is that those people are going to share their experience with friends, and maybe that's neat too.

9 years ago | Likes 84 Dislikes 8

Nobody wants to see that shit anyway

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Or just take a picture or video to remember the experience later.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

People who record concerts should be shot. Nobody cares about your blurry light orgy.

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 3

If only there was like a professional media production system using expensive cameras & microphones to document big events for everyone.

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Yeah, it would be pretty sweet if literally everything was professionally recorded, big or small... But it's not, my friend

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

all her friends are probably dead

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I go through my old photos and it makes me happy being reminded of exciting times I don't remember as clearly as the photo.

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

True. but nothing is as good sitting down and telling the story and the details instead of showing it makes a long story short

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 11

"… and that's why the movin' pictures will never take off! Never, I tells ya!"

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same could be said for the written word. "People these days always writing things down... in my day we had a rich oral history."

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 4

Hehe...oral.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"Back in my day we just grunted at each other and made signs as to where the nearest berry bush was."

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Mmmh mammoth.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wish I had friends..

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

me too

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Careful, there are strange people here.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Did you just alert me of Stranger Danger?

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And maybe I am the strange one.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dad mode, can't control it. (As a man, I know the male heart. )

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Or just let people enjoy things the way they want to. If that includes recording it with a phone, why should that matter to anyone else?

9 years ago | Likes 35 Dislikes 7

Because every concert I go to, idiots hold their phone up the entire time blocking everyone's view behind them.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I don't care as long as some dick isn't holding his iPad up over his head, blocking the view of others.

9 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Yeah it's the dicks who record outside their space that piss me off.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, this. Because then you're keeping other people from enjoying.
