Stuck on a ladder

First post on here after finally making an account, but my girl friend shown here just started on imgur. She got stuck after climbing only 2 steps up and I had to help her down. Get this FP so she sees it!

Also not joking she is super afraid of heights, so of course I had to take a picture first

As someone who used to do competitive rock climbing this baffles me. But as someone who is deathly afraid of tarantulas I sympathize.

I feel bad for her. I have a phobia too, and it can be absolutely crippling. She did a good job with the snowflakes, tho!

9 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 9

Super curious, what is your phobia?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Snowflakes.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have a fear of heights, once went on a rollercoaster that went up REALLY high, pointed you straight down and stopped for about 5 seconds

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Nearly shat myself

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I have a 2 step plan to get her down OP!

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Her fear pleases me.

This is sad... Also, people make fun of me when I say I'm scared of dogs - trying to tease me with their mini schnauzer "even small ones"?

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

As a kid, I was insectophobic. My dad thought telling me I had a caterpillar on me was hilarious, then yelled at me for being terrified.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Her bloodline is weak and she will not survive the winter

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Youre a lousy boyfriend and i love it lol

9 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 4

Hey, ladders are terrifying.

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 2

Especially when you wake up and see one at your window.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Isn't frontpage to high for her?

9 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Too. *That guy.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

any real boyfried would cure her fear by shaking the ladder until she falls that 6 inches

9 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 10

I feel a lot better about six inches now.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

if that's your idea of six inches, then boy do I have bad news for you

9 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

Ex girlfriend had a phobia of dogs for no reason. First time she came to my place, i unleashed the hounds, and they happily jogged over

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

(Keep in mind one was a münsterländer and one was a pug) I have never seen a person that afraid before. took ~5 hours for her to love them,

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

but it worked out in the end! Disclaimer: I had no idea she was afraid of dogs

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Pugs are the terrible ones!

Danny Devito looking bastards. Those were the genes that didn't need to be passed on.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I to am afraid of heights but wow this is new a level of scared. What happens when she jumps in the air?

9 years ago | Likes 83 Dislikes 3

What happens when she climbs stairs?

9 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

She only takes elevators

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If this is true you're kind of a dick.

9 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 27

The best kind of dick!!!

9 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 18

Completely harmless.. My guess is that 5 minutes after she's on the ground, they can both laugh at how ridiculous it is

9 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 7

Just because you can't fathom how it makes someone feel doesn't make it harmless. Jesus I sound like a sjw

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I used to hate people with mental health issues, as if they were faking it. Oh man karma karma

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have been crawling on all 4 during hikes because i'm super afraid of heights. I know the feeling, but it's still funny afterwards.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've also nearly fallen off a ski lift 4 metres above the ground. But i guess i can't fathom the fear she's feeling.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Love to see everyone making fun of her in the comments record themselves in a room with a harmless spider

9 years ago | Likes 72 Dislikes 11

I'll just kill the spider.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I love harmless spiders, they're my bros! Then again I don't make fun of her. I know how much this sorta thing sucks.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I've had a spider in my motorcycle helmet, at 70mph. I do not fear, fear is the mind killer.

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

I'm fine with being near spiders. Fuck letting them touch me though.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

I have no problems handling spiders. They are so much smaller then you, there's nothing to be afraid of.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I mean, some spiders you should be afraid of. A black widow bite is not something to mess with

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

When I said harmless I meant no deadly spiders

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Most pictures of people in rooms are pictures of them in a room with a spider or three. When's the last time you moved that cabinet?

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I have a few spider bros chilling in my room, I just leave them be. Winter is coming, may as well let them stay a few weeks.

I lived in a rural town most of my life. Spiders and their kind ain't no fright to me. Large, deep bodies of water though...

9 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Hey, that's a totally reasonable fear, never know what kind of shit is down there.

9 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't mind the heights, or going up and down a ladder. It's when I have to do something 20'+ up on the ladder that gets me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I climb Communication towers. My legs shake on extension ladders. I'd rather be 1700' up than 15' on a ladder.

9 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

having some sort of protective leash probably helps? I rock climb but wouldnt be super thrilled about climbing a high stepladder

9 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I free climb quite a bit, though now you aren't really supposed to. It's just impractical in many cases.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think its the fact that the tower has been there for years. The ladder has been there five minutes.

What exactly is it that you're afraid of? I always thought that people who were afraid of "heights" were just afraid of falling/dying?

Nope not afraid of dying but maybe falling. Just seeing how far my feet are from the ground scares me

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Ditto. I have no problem with Rollercoasters, but if I have a high ledge, I have a want to jump. Not like suicide or anything, just.. jump.

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Fear of heights isn't necessarily genetic, what you see could be the byproduct of a traumatic childhood fall, or repetitive fall as an adult

9 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 5

I'd say it's instinctual

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

But human ancestors used to climb trees...

9 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Instincts are genetic...

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

I always wonder if irrational fears to this extent could be due to past lives! If we died a certain way then, maybe that is why we fear

9 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 9

Silly things during this life.... I'd hate to know how the lady who's terrified of cucumbers died in the past... who knows!

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

I get it, logic and reason arent too interesting to you, are they?

9 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Calm down, spock. People are allowed to dream and discuss irrational subjects (AKA philosophizing). It doesn't always have to be logical.
