This was the original x-ray where we found out Penlope was not in fact constipated, but in fact in renal failure. (She was still eating, and drinking and playing- what a tough cookie)
2 1/2 year old FS DSH w/ Cerebellum Hypoplasia
The white dot you are seeing is a kidney stone appearing to be located in the ureter. We started pushing fluids Wednesday evening in hopes of improving kidney function.
This is her original bloodwork from Tuesday. Today her BUN was down to 125 & her Creatinine was down to 7. (Not ideal, BUT BETTER!!!)
Her PHOS & TCO2 returned to normal. So we went ahead with surgery.
Unfortunately the doctor was unable to remove only the stone. He tried with all his might and I'm very thankful for all his efforts.
Her whole kidney came out. The doctor is trying to find the stone after removing the kidney.
VOILA! The stone. And her urine filled kidney. We will be sending the stone off to Minnesota for analysis.
Game plan is to continue hospitalization, and hope the other kidney can sustain her. She had an ultrasound where that doctor determined the kidney is structurally sound. She has "lumps" on the remaining kidney. We are hoping it is not kidney disease, but inflammation from the stress of the stone blockage.
Post-Op Penelope.
Getting ready to get growly and make her momma proud.
Good vibes welcome.
Thanks for listening to my SOB story.
UPDATE: 6/10/17 @ 10:30 AM
Penelope ate some dinner and most of her breakfast. No vomiting, and is continuing to produce urine.
(yayyyy)
We will continue her on IV fluids & valium.
Our visit from this morning if you're curious: https://youtu.be/FBMp63zmYUQ
THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR THE KIND WORDS AND SUPPORT.
I will be updating tomorrow with the results of her bloodwork. UPDATE 6/11- blood isn't great. The numbers have only decreased about 10%, we were hoping for a 60-70% decrease. She is also very mopey and wasn't excited to see us today :( :( :( her catheter was very irritated (vasculitis) so the dr is hoping that's why she is mopey. (She had previously seemed clinically ok) we started a new IV today and will be rechecking numbers tomorrow. (If the numbers aren't great but she's feeling well we will at this get to try more, if not....) At this point I'm scared shitless. Will update tomorrow.

@OP. How bad is her cerebellar hypoplasia? Just curious is all. She's really cute.
humancolour
Not too bad. It mostly effects her back end. She runs about five feet, then plop. She has a difficult time keep "steady", her head bobs (1)
humancolour
when she's over stimulated. But when she's calm she tends to be pretty steady. She's learned to lean on things when needed, or claw her way
BlasphemousPigeon
Poor girl, but I'm glad she has a someone to care for her :)

What caused the SS? Which meds was she on?
NurseSlacky
She wasn't - her mom is. >.< She got into my Effexor and ate a couple capsules. Childproof caps are not pupper proof.

OP this happened to my cat too, im so sorry for how hard this is right now. Are there more stones? We had a bilateral bypass done after >
humancolour
No other stones that I'm aware of. I wasn't present for the ultrasound though. The X-ray noted only the one. How'd your meow do?
datfandomdoe
She dropped another stone, and that's when we had the bypass done. Worked perfectly, she's healthy now :) BUN and CREA values all normal
datfandomdoe
Resecting her ureter failed. Two years later and see if back to normal. Please feel free to pm me if you wanna talk <3
datfandomdoe
She is* not see if. This is despite four stones in her left and five in her right. I hurt for you, pushing fluids and surgery is so hard :(
humancolour
Thank you so much the kind words and support. I may take you up on that after tomorrows update.

Fingers crossed! Shes lucky to have you :)
