He died in my Mum’s arms, painlessly & peacefully. His struggle is over, and Mum is now free of the burden of being his primary caregiver.

PSA: Dementia & delirium sucks for all concerned.

The people involved in his palliative care, commended her on the awesome job she did, of looking after him. She’s a wonderful woman.

Hug your loved ones & make sure they feel your love.

Most Viral edit: today, I’m gonna watch Firefly S1E1 with my Mum. I’m hoping that she’ll be able to relax and have a bit of a laugh & would like her to experience the joy I did when watching the show (however incomplete).

Lost mine this past August, feels like just yesterday and years ago at the same time. grateful for the 30 years I had with him..respect, OP❤

My condolences. I promise you, time does begin to heal the wounds left behind. Lost mine almost 4 years ago to MSA. A toast to your father.

Don't be sorry it sounds like he had a full and happy life and even a painless death

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It was kinda perfect. Life had its ups and downs, but the death was as they had wanted.

I've now lost both my parents. Grief hurts, and I keep it to myself more than is healthy. But I'm glad I had them in my life. I think 2>

about the end of LoTR, and it's the same feeling : loss, pain, and at the same time a profound respect for the deep mystery of life.

Why everyone’s dad dying

I saw a few, on the way to writing my post. I wasn’t going to at first, but felt it important to share with someone.

My husbands dad died today, on a trip from Oz back to his homeland for a holiday. He waited til he was where he was born before he let go.

Sounds like you got one of the good ones, OP.

Mine stole my identity. Our country’s “solution” is to just freeze my credit and prevent me from buying anything

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sounds like you and I got two of the bad ones

At least my mother was a meth addict that enjoys living in homeless shelters more than keeping a job and home for my 2 sisters :)

I lost my bonus dad to ALS tonight. Prayers to you and your family @furriephillips

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My friend, what is a bonus dad? Also, I know it’s not, but my dad used to use that acronym for Achy Leg Syndrome. *eyeroll*

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

He was my mom's 2nd husband. Most people call them step parents but he was more than that to me and my sisters

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Roger that.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

ALS is a disease that attacks the nervous system and muscles in your body. It's also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. He was given 2-5 years

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

And only lasted 2 years & 3 months. We had to remove him from life support yesterday as there is no cure

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m dealing with something ultra similar with my grandpa. He’s seeing dead relatives and saying things that never happened. I’m terrified.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeh devastation on the family members is real. The sufferer can be a space cadet one minute - having a conversation with the ether, then

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

the curtain of consciousness will raise and there will be a period of lucidity and your loved one is “back”, temporarily. It’s heartbreaking

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My Dad was out of it for most of the time, but he had a moment, when Mum was fluffing his pillow & he stole a kiss. Choked me up, badly.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Sounds about right. I see him quite often. My first best friend. After his latest devastating stroke he was so tired we couldn’t wake him.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Then he rolled over and saw me just for about a minute, and he smiled the entire time, and constantly wants to talk to me. I broke down.
