Foraging for wild edibles (with bonus archaeological site)

Caper. I still don't know what they taste like yet. Maybe one day.

Figs. Finally managed to find some ripe ones!

Lots of cacti.

Prickly pears. Not going to bother harvesting any without gloves.

They look tasty though.

Almond tree.

Shelled almonds and a piece of a mosaic.

Pomegranates. Still need to wait a bit till they become ripe.

I cheated a bit here as the next few pictures were of plants not found in the wild but I did feel they were worth mentioning:

Grapes

Passion fruit (still not ripe).

Carob.

Today I learnt that I don't like the taste of carob much.

Ruins. Apparently some from the Roman period and some from the Crusades.

Grind stone base.

Mosaics. This used to be a house.

Hand engraving.

I've eaten all of these (the edibles, nit the ruins) except the carob. Maybe I chewed one as a kid though.

No matter how well you think you've de-pricklied the prickly pear, do not put it directly in your mouth. Big mistake. Hard learned lesson.

Why do you call them edibles instead of just food?

They're laced with hashish
