This was my favorite book to look at before I could read. My brother and I would examine each page for hours creating fantastic (in our opinion) stories.
We loved to imagine the fun we could have had if we grew up with dinosaurs.
Loved the idea of open air marketplaces filled with them.
We wanted to do this so badly, my lifelong regret will always be that I can never do any skyhopping.
This was always my favorite page. I love parades and I could see the whole page without any obstruction.

@ebiss do you remember from when you were young? I do these were my favs
MyFeebleTurtleDuck
I went to a signing and the author drew me a picture of a T-Rex kicking a soccer ball.
BobLazor
The artist creating this master piece is James Gurney, still alive and creating amazing illustration, he teach a lot online too!
kaitekarue
This book is probably the best peice of worldbuilding I had ever read. Indidnt like the rest of them... but the main dinotopia is amazing

Also a movie.
BunkerJohn
Which needs a reboot....badly. The visuals and concept were great and beautiful . The writing and acting left something to be desired.
Seamusthesashe
Best fucking book ever!!!
Foffer
YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES THIS WAS THE SHIT !
Elderahn
I have one of his books on colour and light. Very informative, but I think I need to read it 2-3 times more before anything is gonna stick.
shinyRK9
Dude, I had the pop up version of this book!
MasterPrime
We had the old adventure game from the 90's. Apparently it went out of print almost immediately.

Just want to give a shout out to his books "imaginative realism" and "colour and light". Amazing literature for anyone into illustration
cometschan
I am so distraught and relieved. I have asked so many people if they remember this and no one I've met knew of it's existence.
cometschan
I was starting to wonder if I just imagined the whole thing or I was just on a weird fringe of my childhood.
CoqRoq
The live action mini series was pretty decent. My brother and I love those books too.

I vaguely remember seeing parts of that show. 'Didn't have many channels so only caught it in short bursts, but I recall being scared and 1/

According to IMDB you can watch it on Amazon Prime.

saddened by a scene where this temple flashes some lights, and a huge flock of Pteranodons dies. 2/2
MagnorCriol
I LOVED the aesthetics for these books. I could get lost in the illustrations for hours when I read them.
Eleshar24
Now imagine if it were full of feathered overgrown murder-chickens.
handsMoleman
FYI the illustrator James Gurney is a complete legend and shares so much of his knowledge on his blog. He’s the illustrator’s bob ross
seratraxalyn
Right?? I used to just stare at the images for hours on end and imagine that world and how cool it would be to be a part of it.

This book made me want to be a paleontologist. And here I am at 30, a bartender with a social science degree. Ah memories.
djml9
I wanted to be a paleontologist, till i went to a dig. It was one of the most exhausting & boring things ever. Decided id just be a dino fan
DemonFluffer1000
You're probably still earning more and have a never ending supply of drunk horny women who love a chat with a socially educated gent.
aducknamedsteve

Reverse2057
SAME! My entire life I've wanted to be a paleontologist, Jurassic Park just made it stronger.
thelegendarythirdleg
So why didn’t you take paleontology?
vindik8or
I believe paleontology is less of a degree major or class and more of a specialisation for postgraduate research.
djml9
At my school, the dino class was geoscience
iChangeMyNameToBeRelevant
I'll join in on this train. Wanted it for as long as I can remeber. Told it wasnt a viable job. Here I am, miserable in digital marketing.
P0mp0u2P1l4t3
I didnt pursue it because, ironically I didnt want to enter a field where I might spend a whole lifetime without achieving anything.
FluorescentAlbatross
So very relatable.
