This was my favorite book to look at before I could read. My brother and I would examine each page for hours creating fantastic (in our opinion) stories.

We loved to imagine the fun we could have had if we grew up with dinosaurs.

Loved the idea of open air marketplaces filled with them.

We wanted to do this so badly, my lifelong regret will always be that I can never do any skyhopping.

This was always my favorite page. I love parades and I could see the whole page without any obstruction.

@ebiss do you remember from when you were young? I do these were my favs

I went to a signing and the author drew me a picture of a T-Rex kicking a soccer ball.

I love Gurney! I studied two of his books in art school. He's an incredible painter and illustrator.

My husband had his wisdom teeth removed as a young child and woke out to the entire novel series gifted to him to read while he recovered.

6 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Also a movie.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Which needs a reboot....badly. The visuals and concept were great and beautiful . The writing and acting left something to be desired.

Best fucking book ever!!!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

YEEEEEEEEEEEEEES THIS WAS THE SHIT !

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I have one of his books on colour and light. Very informative, but I think I need to read it 2-3 times more before anything is gonna stick.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dude, I had the pop up version of this book!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

We had the old adventure game from the 90's. Apparently it went out of print almost immediately.

Just want to give a shout out to his books "imaginative realism" and "colour and light". Amazing literature for anyone into illustration

I am so distraught and relieved. I have asked so many people if they remember this and no one I've met knew of it's existence.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I was starting to wonder if I just imagined the whole thing or I was just on a weird fringe of my childhood.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

The live action mini series was pretty decent. My brother and I love those books too.

That and The 10th Kingdom were my favorite childhood shows

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Oh my God. I’ve never met another 10th Kingdom lover! It’s still my fave even after all this time.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I remember getting Dinotopia mugs, from Hallmark maybe?

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

saddened by a scene where this temple flashes some lights, and a huge flock of Pteranodons dies. 2/2

I LOVED the aesthetics for these books. I could get lost in the illustrations for hours when I read them.

6 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Now imagine if it were full of feathered overgrown murder-chickens.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

FYI the illustrator James Gurney is a complete legend and shares so much of his knowledge on his blog. He’s the illustrator’s bob ross

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Right?? I used to just stare at the images for hours on end and imagine that world and how cool it would be to be a part of it.

6 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We bought a copy for my daughter when we seen it at a local used bookstore.

James Gurney has a blog, YouTube and other books! Check out Painting Magical Realism, and you will see the behind the scenes of how he 1/

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

2/ made many of these paintings. There’s also a sequel to Dinotopia that is also beautiful.

This book made me want to be a paleontologist. And here I am at 30, a bartender with a social science degree. Ah memories.

6 years ago | Likes 367 Dislikes 1

I wanted to be a paleontologist, till i went to a dig. It was one of the most exhausting & boring things ever. Decided id just be a dino fan

6 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

You're probably still earning more and have a never ending supply of drunk horny women who love a chat with a socially educated gent.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

It’s never to late brother.

6 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Same boat but a different job, sometimes I still dream.

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

well you can still take that master degree in social science to study plants and become an ethnobotanist

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It is never too late! You still can!

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I also wanted to be a paleontologist. Now I’m a vet tech with an animal science/chemistry degree. I still want to research...

I don't recollect what's our favourite band

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

If your favorite band is also Tower of Power I'm going to sue for identity theft

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Same here. 32 year old line cook with a BA. Fucking spectacular.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

SAME! My entire life I've wanted to be a paleontologist, Jurassic Park just made it stronger.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So why didn’t you take paleontology?

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I believe paleontology is less of a degree major or class and more of a specialisation for postgraduate research.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

At my school, the dino class was geoscience

I'll join in on this train. Wanted it for as long as I can remeber. Told it wasnt a viable job. Here I am, miserable in digital marketing.

6 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I didnt pursue it because, ironically I didnt want to enter a field where I might spend a whole lifetime without achieving anything.

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

So very relatable.
