"What's it all about, Alfa?"

Education is the silver bullet for many of humanities problems.

The GOP: No, No, NO!! You do not educate the poor people. It gives them ideas that allow them to think they deserve better than what we are willing to give them. Banning/burning books is the only way to go.

Somebody should tell LeVar Burton about this dude.

Books help develop the brain. Kids need books not only to help educate them but also to stimulate their imagination to what's in the world. Do not ban books.

A mi burro

I have been thinking of starting a thing where I go around my area and add/remove books from the little library's and like keep the books cycling through them. Try to get the books swapped around every week or so so as to give people something different each time they look. Since I see a lot of them seem to constantly have the same books for months on end. Later I want to open a mobile library as well... the downside to both is largely a lack of time and money to pull it off

Way better than the Bibliotank.

Reading books is awesome but the truth is, reading books alone wouldn’t make you rich or wealthy or even financially free.

This is less orphan crushing machine than it is helping to develop an underdeveloped area.

There was a similar project in US Appalachia during the Great Depression. The Pack Horse Library project. I read a historical fiction book about it a year ago

Somebody get this man a cart.

It might be better to just use the burros. They can go where a cart can’t, and it doesn’t look like he’s on a paved or even a graded path there.

For some reason I thought this was some guy named Bill Burro running for office before I read it. I was like: "shit, he's got my vote."

So no book-bans then?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Authoritarians would likely be happy to ban them, and have historically in the region. He's doing an invaluable service, and I hope he doesn't have to deal with them.

You've never had a burro at a Mexican restaurant before? They're basically a burrito except bigger. After all, -ito/ita means small/little. So burrito = baby donkey.

AND a burrito. They two go together like fine wine and cheese.

I read Bilbo burrito and was excitedly confused.

So Burrito is actually the dimunuitive of burro. Burro means donkey. Burrito means little donkey. Donkeys used to carry loads and have rolled up blankets on them. That’s how the dish burrito got its name.
