Time for a marathon. It's been two orso years since last one.

My one regret about this show was that there were no huge Earth Bender fights. Id love to see the battlefield shift around the combatants.

Can you please do Katara vs Hama? That fight was lit!

Master Pakku. "You can't knock me down!"

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not true 60fps its interlaced.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I think you mean interpolated... and yeah, a 10 fps gif with 50 interpolated frames just looks unnatural and bleck to me.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I don't understand why people do this. You ruin the animation by duplicating frames. It was animated for 24fps this makes me sad.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

That's hot

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It’s not the same without the music but still awesome

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

A lot of people dont realize this, but Katara & the others werent able to do as much with direct combat in the finale b/c of the comet. (1)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

They were all ridiculously weak compared to the firebenders. Only the masters could stand up to them, and even they needed 2 firebending (2)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

masters to make it happen. You can clearly see this based on the giant flames in this agni kai scene. Something most people dont realize (3)

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

TBH the music in this scene is just incredible for the mood of it.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Your post has more FPS than the show ever had.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

it just duplicated the frames that were originally there

My friend is new to anime and he wants to know what this is from.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Avatar: The Last Airbender or The Legend of Aang, it's interchangeable. Great series.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

also, not anime, ironically. its all western made. but done with the anime asthetic.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah. But it's fantastically done, and the attention to detail is superb.

Flame-o hotman!

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

i saw this and then i fell down the rabbit hole and spent over an hour on YouTube looking at different Avatar fights

Go deeper into the rabbit hole and rewatch the entire series

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Notice how Iroh drilled Zuko in basic firebending fundamentals, and then every major fight he wins, he wins using those solid fundamentals.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Me too. Toph's are the best

Aang > Korra

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 3

I like korra more. I found ong boring the first 2 seasons. Though the fights are much better without aang

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

not to say korra is bad, by any means. but yes.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That's not 60 fps, that's interpolated at best with a side of prime motion blur

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

which makes it 60 fps. It doesn't make it not 60 fps just because it's interpolated.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

what doesnt make it a true 60fps is the fact that the characters arent re-drawn every frame. They are static for about 3 frames each drawing

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

so the characters are moving at like 20 fps, even though the video stats say its 60 fps

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

No, that's not how it works, when you blend 2 frames you don't create new ones and don't get the smooth experience. Needs to be native.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's exactly what interpolation does, though. It makes new frames inbetween the original frames.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yes, blurred version of both frames "motionblur" it isn't at all the same thing and you just need to google a few examples to see it

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's not 60fps, it's just running at 60 frames per second?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

its not real a 60 fps because the artists didnt draw the characters 60 times per second (no budget would allow that), the actual characters

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

change poses like every 3 frames or so, the background just parallaxes the entire time.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

change poses like every 3 frames or so, the background just parallaxes the entire time.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Rgr, good explanation

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I love how muted this scene was. It could have been an exciting, action-packed showdown, but instead it felt almost tragic.

8 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

I mean it is a duel between siblings. One of which is a circumstance of her fathers ideals

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it was meant to. azula, in her madness, fell to the very darkness iroh warned zuko of. shes meant to be pittied. and they pulled it off 100%

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Also, with the other 2 loud actionpacked showdowns (Ozai v Aang & Airships v. Sokka, Suki, & Toph), having loud music here would be overkill

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah, this was really just the finisher on the episodes since The Boiling Rock she spent destroying everything around her.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Zuko quickly became my favorite part of that show, aside from Uncle Iroh that is...

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Iroh is almost painfully good. I could not believe how he kept getting better on all fronts as we learned more about him.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Iroh and Toph were my favorites.

It's the quenchiest!

8 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

Noothings quenchier!

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

good quality but its not *really* 60 fps. No way an animator is drawing 60 frames every second for a TV show. Not in the budget lol

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah the show was produced in SD. I don't even think they put it on Blu Ray cause it just wasn't made for it.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

get out of here with your new avatar ilk

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 16

Tenzen was pretty much the best character in korra. Quite the depressing let down that series is Tbh.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

no less than ten people disagree with us

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

What's the difference between red flames and blue flames?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Mainly just to differentiate the characters attacks. Azula sgot blue flame throughout the entire series

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 3

I've been asking the same thing. I think it's because of their different state of emotion.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I saw it more like... Everyone ELSE was using a flamethrower, while she was using a blowtorch, which was more focused, getting more oxygen.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Pretty much yes. Her fire is hotter. If she wasn't mentally ill and generally a bad person she could have been one of the best fire benders.

8 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Azula had blue flames because blue fire is much hotter showing that she's more powerful.

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 2

However, Zuko is much more disciplined and reserved, so he can focus more on technique.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

science says her fire is the more intense and heated. TV people would mention the need to tell the two fires apart for the audience.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

he writers, and most of the fanbase would add in the symbolism of her being the stronger sibling, and the focused fury. take your pick

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No you need to take her down, she is crazy.

8 years ago | Likes 232 Dislikes 2

No, she's crazy and (she) needs to go down **

8 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 1

Thanks, I couldn't remember the exact words.

8 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 0

I always felt sorry for azula tbh.

8 years ago | Likes 70 Dislikes 0

... Shes still pretty cute too. Idk I never really felt too sorry for her. That said I also may not be remembering her story very well

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You were supposed to.

8 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 0

She's a kid, no mother and abusive father and the weight of an entire kingdom on her head with no proper guidance. The scene of her 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Crying and screaming chained down and breathing fire after the fight actually got me emotional. 2/2

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

She is only 14.

8 years ago | Likes 62 Dislikes 1

Then her parents built a very strange machine

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not gonna lie, the official ages for most of the characters were BS. Mike & Bryan did not know what teenagers look like. Azula, for (1)

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

example, has the body of a 17 year old. She does NOT look 14. And I know, b/c I saw this series multiple times while in high school. (2/2)

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

True, but to be fair she was a highly trained fighter with lots of pampering. It's possible the stress and all made her look older, and ~

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

O wow. You've made so many of my past boners weird now with that fact o.o

8 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 1

Boners just don' care.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Thanks. But I guess I was around 14 when it aired?

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I mean, if those boners came from the crazy chick who was ready to destroy an entire nation, they were probably weird boners to begin with.

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Maybe the correct term is guilty boners?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And a bundle of wasted potential. I see Zuko as a weaker version of what Azula could have been if she had been trained properly.

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 3

The comics almost brought that potential back

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So did his father

8 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 0

Love it, but it's just not the same without that gorgeous score

8 years ago | Likes 640 Dislikes 4

The score added the melancholy theme I thought tragedy of the sister fighting her brother.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

CLACK. BOOM... CLACK. BOOM...

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

Or the huge landscape shots with massive fireballs illuminating the whole city from above

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I can hear it in my head.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love how melancholy it was. It was one of the most anticipated fights of the series, but in the end it was sad (in a good way).

8 years ago | Likes 54 Dislikes 0

Having an older sister about the Same age difference, this was heartbreaking.

8 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Idk. I'd kick my sibling's ass for free. With love.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It was more because he HAD to. Not as a sibling rivalry, but as a king. (I say king because this fight establishes the fire lord title)

was it not agni kai? I remember that being the score for most fight scenes.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The Last Agni Kai

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You ever notice how the scenes between Aang and Ozai are bombastic, but the sounds between Azula and Zuko are muted? Neat af.

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

Because their battle is emotional and internal, and the music can just play to the weight of the scene

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

also intentional. the difference between the climax of the proverbial good v evil narrative in the equally proverbial standoff for the world

8 years ago | Likes 28 Dislikes 0

and the climax of an internal amila stuggle, between a tragic hero, and a tragic villain. azula, for all her meglomania, ruthlessness, and

8 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

fury, was a foil to zuko. a sort of "what if" reflection had he not looked for the light as iroh advised. her madness was that. madness. to

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

be pittied, even through its vileness. ozai by contrast was generic dictator warlord #4928947 who was never meant to be seen as tragic or

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 0

The ending of this series was one if the best story endings Ive ever seen. They took their time and the pay off was huge

8 years ago | Likes 227 Dislikes 1

It was one of the few series that kept getting better and better as it went on. Usually they kinda fall flat at some point, but not TLA.

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Well they started with a plan, they stuck with it, and they didnt try to milk it after it was over. They let the story stand as it was meant

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Where can I find the entire series? Tjis is the Last Air Bender, yes? Or something different?

8 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

It is. It used to be on Hulu but I’m unsure if it still is.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

legendofkorra.tv has them all as well. There are probably others, but google should be helpful enough for those.

Yes, this is The Last Air Bender. kisscartoon has all the episodes, I think. It's a pretty amazing show, especially in season two and three.

SHIT

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I feel like they should have launched a new season or a spinoff from that. Kora was good, but not airbender good.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

I think they explored Zuko's mom in a comic series. I think I read something like that on another Avatar post

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

It got a whole detailed comic by Darkhorse. Very well done.
