Had my first German beer today

Dec 4, 2017 9:21 PM

I have never had a smoother, frothier, or better tasting beer in my life. Before this, my life had consisted of Yuenglings, Guinness and Stella Artois. I'm never going back.

I hate sweet German beer. Try Warsteiner for a different sort of great.

Try Weihenstephaner Hefe as it's the absolute best one in the world.

Congrats, you’ve reached level 1! Next step is to devour a whole Schweinshaxe with knödel & sauerkraut.

Third Reich? Wtf? That beer was definitely not made by the third Reich

These bitches have a lot of followers. Nice. :)

This beer sucks. I have no problem with Hefeweizen, so to speak, but the dunkle bachs of southern Germany are so much better.

Germans make OK beer, but there plumber's build showers to die for.

Are you saying there's something unsatisfactory about Coors Light?

Spaten

Once I can legally drink it, I’m going to try some.

I made my friend to get this for me. Where I'm originally from, I was legal, then I moved to Philly and suddenly I'm not allowed to drink.

You should try Weihenstephaner if you like weizen.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I’m going there for their 1000-year anniversary if my liver holds up until 2040.

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

How much does it cost when you import it?

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not much. $10 for a six pack.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That's because it's a Weizen or Hefeweizen, which are typically lighter and "fruitier" than the others on your list.

Not all German beers will have this taste. Try it in a glass with a slice of lemon or orange. Mmmm

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 5

That would mean going to Germany. Worth it though.

You can get that at the hofbräuhaus here in las vegas... I bet it's closer than germany!

8 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There's a hofbräuhaus like 15 minutes from where I live in Columbus. The beer/food is so damn good, and they tap a new seasonal every month.

There's one here in Vegas and it's awesome.

Check out Hacker-Pschorr. All the varieties I've had are good, but Oktoberfest was the best.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

I’m a weihenstephaner fan myself.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Which variety do you recommend?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love the Hefe but the dunkel is great too.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Thanks, I'll give the Hefe a taste soon. Enjoy trying new brews for the holidays. Last year was Einstok Icelandic Toasted Porter. Excellent!
