Made my best chicken pot pie yet

Apr 6, 2019 6:54 PM

Recipe below, enjoy.

You can use a deep dish pie pan or make two pies with premade pie crusts in pans.

I roasted my own chicken and made my own broth from the leftover peices and bones.

Images and a recipe without 20 pages of story. I can upvote that.

Good looking chicken pot pie

Pro tip. Use a dark metal pan to get a crispy super rich crust. I use a spring form to get a big deep dish monster pie.

Just FYI, after seeing this post I have been obsessed with the thought of this pie and finally making my own at this moment! Thanks!

and another +1 for including it in the pictures. I mean, having it as text as well would be brilliant, but this way is easily downloaded.

Pro tip: add a diced boiled egg to the filling. You will thank me.

Also some sliced celery. It feels and tastes nothing like raw celery after cooking.

I accept the butter challenge.

yum.gif ... also wth is Challenge Butter?

7 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

It's an American brand name. Just use your favorite brand instead :)

6 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Probably the brand sponsoring the website the recipe was taken from.

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Challenge accepted

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's cut into discs and frozen. After that it's used to pay the fare for riding the struggle bus.

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

its just a brand of butter

7 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

Why have they specified a brand

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Maybe its an ad

7 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

most likely the recipe is made by the challenge butter brand

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Just use any old butter. I use unsalted because it gives more control over salt content. U can add it to a slightly oversalted sauce to fix

7 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

"Just use any old butter" BLASPHEMY!!!! You use Rolled Amish butter from the churn or in a pinch you use Kerrygold. What are we barbarians?!

7 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

You're fooling yourself. There's no way in hell you could taste the difference of onions sauteed in this butter or any other butter

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If it was just the onions & butter,. 100% sure I could. by the time they sat "in the pie" probably not (scratch crust would def be better).

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Maybe in the crust. But $10/lb is a lot to pay for buter
