You smell like sunshine dust

Definitely adorable and I’m not saying they don’t have a bond. Please be careful with mixing big and little birds. Big bird can do some harm

It had to be said.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is that the bird from Rio?

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

No, that was a bare-eyed cockatoo, this looks like a moluccan cockatoo. Similar, but different.

Don't talk to me or my son ever again

Cockatoos always seem to have little colourful friends follow them around. Lots of character

My African Grey (Alex) and Sun Conure (Mango) came from the same breeder and have been inseparable from the moment they were introduced

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

Is Alex named after Irene Pepperberg's bird? Or is that just a coincidence?

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

He is! We wanted to honour his legacy. His full name is Alexander the Grey (like Alexander the Great but he's an African Grey so yeah puns)

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

They cuddle together, groom eachother, talk to eachother, etc. Mango only says the words "love you," and only to my grandmother and Alex.

8 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

If Mango is out of Alex's sight, he calls for her "Mango, where are you baby?" and imitates her call an make kissy noises. It's so cute <3

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 1

They're willed to never be separated as long as both are living, and when I eventually die and Alex outlives me, he goes to my cousin.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

Would you consider making a post about your birds?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

I keep promising to make posts and then I forget! But I have an Instagram by the same name they're on.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Aww they're holding hands.. feet?

8 years ago | Likes 340 Dislikes 0

Thank you.... I didn't notice.

Talons?

8 years ago | Likes 66 Dislikes 1

Nah, they're just called feet, talons are for birds of prey

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've been a bird owner for 5 years and didn't realize until now I'd been using the wrong term. You're right!

This made me realise what a sad, miserable life any bird has sitting on it's own in a cage for it's whole life

8 years ago | Likes 133 Dislikes 3

That's why one should let them out of their cage every once in a while. My bird loves flying around in our living room.

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

we have a little budgie that flew in and stuck around since. we've had him for a fwe years.loves eating pork, lamb, cheese. Flies wherever.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

I am so obsessed with my sun conure. It makes me ugly cry to think about birds living lonely lived.

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Green cheek conure owner here, and I feel the same! Mine has 2 cats and 2 dog buddies to hang with when I'm not home.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As someone obsessed with parrots, my heart is forever breaking by assholes who think these wonderful critters are decorations.

8 years ago | Likes 64 Dislikes 0

My aunt had a great grey who she would keep outside in her driveway/porch. She would throw a blanket over its cage and then go to work.

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

My neighbor had a parrot, he treated it like it was a dog, its best friend was a 10 year old German Shepherd who it rode like a horse.

8 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

The dog rode the parrot?

8 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 1

He tried when he was a puppy. Dog had a huge scar on his ear from that one...

8 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

I have a conure and its out of the cage and with me all day. I only ever put in the cage at night or whwn I'm cooking/cleaning.

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

1-I've got an umbrella cockatoo. She pretty much only gets locked in her cage as a punishment. Like a child being sent to their room. But

8 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

3-like a kid's room. A place she can feel is her own, and a place she feels safe.

8 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

2-it's an $800 behemoth, so it's nice and roomy. Best advice I got about cages, besides the obvious "go as big as possible" is to make it

8 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

We always let our birds out of the cage every day to fly around the room. The vet said we had the most muscular birds she ever saw.

8 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 2

Serious question, what do you do about all the pooping?

8 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That is awesome. I have a little budgie and I do the same thing. He loves flying from curtain to curtain in the living room

8 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You should bird proof the house and let him roam all day

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I don't have birds anymore but they were out all day and only went in the cages at night while everyone slept

8 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Real question: What did you do about them pooping/peeing around the house? What would stop them from pooping into a soup you just made?

8 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

We didn't let them around us when we were eating. They only flew around two rooms, that's all they were comfy with. They mostly pooped 1/2

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

training. give them a place to poop, reward them for using it, and they catch on really fast.

8 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Training. Also for the interim, they sell cute little bird suits with removable nappy squares at the bottom.
