We're on holiday in Spain and this thing just hissed at me. Its over an inch long. I scooped it up in the pool net and dropped into the garden below, but slightly freaked out. Anyone have an idea?

It'snot a great photo, but I think it might be a Pine Chafer (Polyphylla fullo) or some other kind of June Bug/Chafer type beetle...

They're native to Spain, speckled, have 'fan' antennae, hiss and are in season. Look them up, see if they match what you saw.
