Herd Immunity

Apr 22, 2020 4:38 AM

Sweden’s national government has urged citizens to take personal responsibility for following physical distancing guidelines, rather than strictly enforcing mandatory rules. Shops, restaurants, gyms, salons and primary and secondary schools have remained open for children under 16, even if a family member is ill.

While Herd Immunity is the right idea. The problem arises with the onset of many cases in a short period of time, thus overwhelming the Health Care system.

Herd immunity happens when a large portion of the population becomes immune to a disease or virus, which stops it from spreading and provides indirect protection to those that are not immune.

Just to be clear, the strategy of Sweden is not to gain herd immunity, but it might come be a consequence later on

Swedish people are radically different from US citizens. They’re inherently the most community minded of people in the world, this
