Almost a billion dollars in funding at this game is still in Alpha.

Is it still the firs hit for "space game vaporware" over on the old gargler?

GTA 6 has been in development for a slightly shorter period of time and has already exceeded 1 BILLION in costs. Lets calm down.

People seem to enjoy it. I don't get it, myself.

I can only applaude how they keep get money out of people

I was one of the original kickstarter backers for this game. I'm really glad I didn't go for one of the more expensive tiers.

Funniest scam on the internet.

I remember when this "game" was first announced, and was so over-hyped. When I looked into it and saw things like "Become a backer for $1,000" (I think that was the lowest tier backer). I laughed. I knew right then that it was a money scam. There were plenty of dummies who gave $10,000 or more too! Hahahahahaha

I remember backing this. Mainly because I was excited to play a single-player campaign like Wing Commander/Freespace. At least I just paid a base price and was never suckered into any of the ridiculous bonus offers.

Star Citizen has a "microtransaction" bundle that costs $48,000. you can only see it in the in-game store after youve spent $10,000.

Half Life 3 will exist before this does.

Gaming’s greatest grift.

They really mislead people with the "alpha" thing. They should just call it what it really is: a live service game.

The monumental cost is largely in part because of horrible mismanagement, but looking at other recent titles (CoD Black Ops 6 as an example cost 700 million to make - a title they regularly crank out every year or two) it's just following a growing trend of these studios trying to make something with massively inflated budgets.

I am gonna setup a Go-Fund-Me for Star Citizen 2.

With the admittance that I personally enjoy the game I will say a couple things. 1. Its not a scam its just poorly managed, it is a game that you can buy for less than what a normall AAA title costs and has a fair amount of gameplay. 2. It is not even close to the only game claiming to be in alpha in a fully playable state. 3. People hate on the cost of ships but you dont have to buy them, they all become available in game after a patch or two, I have never spent more than $45 on the game.

The game will never “launch”. It launched a decade ago and is as stable as it will ever be.

The gameplay loop is tossing money in a pit so that you can play second life in space.

Had a friend try to convince me more than 10 years ago "no really it totally releases and is already playable". And then again 6 years ago "what? of course it's gonna release soon. it even has multiple game modes now".
Yeah right ... not until the guys at the top milked as much out of it as they can and haul ass. This thing will never be able to live up to its expectations

It would be hilarious if Star Citizen came out before GTA 6

4 months ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 2

They did say the singleplayer squadron42 was due next year, but they also said 2016. No multiplayer would make it simpler, but who the hell knows.

Even if the push GTA to 2029 Star Citizen won’t happen.

I'm going to be one foot in the grave by then

And aren’t we all by the rate of events.

star citizen on paper is a game I should really like. I just have no belief at this point that it's anything more than a money pit and the devs are laughing all the way to the bank.

For me the gameplay loop has gotten worse. There's no real ways to make good money unless you team up with friends and grind for several days. Also it takes hours to get everyone together. Its worse than prepping an arma clan for a weekly operation. That shit takes an hour for everyone to play barbie, star citizen, it's straight up an hour to get out of BED and to the hanger, and hope that whoever you're travelling with was in your local system.

Why don't you sleep in the ship?

4 months ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I tried that recently, since I've got a polaris, and me and my buddies tried to bedlog.

Well, fun thing, it wouldn't let them bedlog, and when they just alt f4'd only then was I able to bed log (lol you can't bedlog with people on your ship now??)

But even better, we all spawned back at home and all our shit was lost. It's not like I parked us in a shitty area either. I usually cancel mid jump, and hang out in dead space to bedlog. But yeah, nope.

Seems as if that's a deliberate choice by the developer?
I've never even watched gameplay.
It would be a great game to play if it lived up to the idea.

Bedlogging was a primary feature. Why else would ships have beds in them lmao. That, and they have a 'logout' context menu button lmao. Like this is a fun little mechanic that they fixed until it was broken
