#5 Aberdeenshire is where my family is from. I'd guess we weren't the lot allowed at the castle though. Still a large chunk of family there
Tatooine92
Clearly I need to start playing the lottery.
forgotmyokdpasswordsohereweare
Pueblo buenito, New Mexico USA
vauhtihirmu
Amazing locations, but I think bucket lists are pretty stupid.
ABORTERpatrol
“God! What wonder that across the earth a great architect went mad"
CandiceCPhT
Going to the Catacombs this December ????
kneebitten
Before they're leveled by extremists.
MilConDoin
Chateau Miranda, Belgium has a serious Tim Burton feeling in that photo.
CrustyMustard91
I've been there! Nepal, Ilios, Eichenwald... wait a second...

#11:
krotuskang
O thank goodness. When I saw the thumbnail I was worried they blew it up.
TosokTheRodentHunter
#1 is the monastery at Petra :)
ThisIsAPseuDanym
I kinda wish I had visited more of these. Only been to Chichen Itza and Petra.
ChristopherDeConcini
Places to see *before they get blown up
CaustickCosmos
TheAdventuresofStealy
Petra is the #2 thing I want to see. Machu Picchu is #1, but seriously how does that get left off a list like this?
Dominiricanish
I've been to both and they're incredible! Honestly how do you not include all 7 wonders on a list like this!?
Boq8
I already have half of them built in my capital in Civ
DrShitForBrainsPHD
You forgot the alcoves in bruges. If I was to kill anyone in bruges, I'd do it in the alcoves
choover25
Nooks and crannies is more appropriate word.
IPoopAfterDrinkingCoffee
Ah yes let me book a quick flight to Syria
Carrickin
I lived on the US Army base in Heidelberg. Our prom was actually in that castle.
GreenBeanCasserole
Lived in P.H.V., an that is one awesome castle!!
Carrickin
I did too! Moved back a few years later and lived off post near Schwetzingen. Little town called Ketsch.
choover25
That's awesome. Mine was in a best western express conference room.
redorchestra00
No where in Ireland? :(
fantastapotamus
I just got back from Ireland... and I want to go back like, right now.
SSE2019
Been to Petra, just so you know, you can't go inside like Indiana Jones mostly because it's just a single room.
Atratvs
I would like to see the room, did you take pictures?
dirtehscandi
Did you ever get a chance to try Petra the beer? I didn't realize it was stronger until I had four in short order
SerialChillinSpree
Riiggghhhhhhttt.
ThePrincessBubbleButt
Going to Jordan on Wednesday ! Anything else to see?
ap91484
Wadi Rum, where Lawrence of Arabia hid; Mount Nebo, where Moses was shown the land of Israel; the Dead Sea; Bethany, the baptism site.

Dominiricanish
Also Madaba has Byzantine mosaics, wadi Mujib amazing hike, jerash in the north is really cool and there are castle along the way to Petra.
SwordsToTheSkyWeRideAtDawn
#1, didn't ISIS blow this up?
Quirky74747
They did! Not sure of extent of damage though.
Sauroctonus
I think you're thinking of Palmyra.
Quirky74747
No, I was just completely wrong! Thank you for the correction. I don't know why but I had a distinct memory of Petra reported destroyed.
trevdev
Lol I have $40 dollars in my bank account
JebediahJones

CivilizedUndead
I know it's a long shot, considering the bad reputation it has, but if you ever visit Pakistan, add these to your list:
CivilizedUndead
K2 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:K2_Nordseite.jpg Swat Valley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Lake_Swatvalley_x102.JPG
CivilizedUndead
oh and if the images don't load for some reason, just open them in a new tab :/ wikimedia isn't a great link source
CivilizedUndead
Rohtas fort https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/39/Rohtas_Fort_Magnificent_Kabuli_Gate.jpg

CivilizedUndead
Things have gotten a lot safer for tourists, as violence across the entire country is down by up to 70%. Plus, the north of the country 1/2
CivilizedUndead
has never really had a big problem with violence and terrorism. So, if you're ever in Pakistan, check these places out :) 2/2
anubisfike
I'm not looking for "a lot safer", I'm looking for "safe".
CivilizedUndead
It's safe, as long as you don't go around making trouble.
anubisfike
What does that mean? Is that what people usually do?
CivilizedUndead
As in starting fights or some shit, same rule applies every tourist destinations. Also, stay away from obvious high crime areas, again same.
CivilizedUndead
If you're going to North Pakistan, you probably have zero things to worry about, other than tourist traps.
inspiringandfunnyusernamecoolheh
Chateau Miranda, Belgium why would anyone want to visit that, you want to die?
Wesugi
Isnt it like, really haunted?
choover25
I recommend to people touring Belgium to hit up Iepers. One of the best museums I've ever seen.
Durango
It's beautiful and fascinating. Unfortunately it's eaten by serpula or some shit, shithead put some tags inside and it's now forbidden 1/2
Durango
entrance. Also, likely to be destroyed cause nobody want to pay to save it from fungi. Source: I used to leave near and play inside often
inspiringandfunnyusernamecoolheh
so how long you've been dead?
Durango
Approximately 17 years ago. It's not that bad, though, you get to see the world and can spook people out of their use to use their internet
MrT800
I love Neuschwanstein Castle because it gives all castles in my empire +3 Gold, +2 Culture, and +1 Happiness!
L3nnyj
We didn't as the GF had the runs, and it wasn't pretty walking up and down that hill.
HuascarRa
only 25 days to go for civ6
CommieMommy
I love you
Andrewmoo
Hellstorm99
It is also a HUGE TOURIST TRAP. Don't get me wrong, it is amazing, but be advised, very touristy prices and people.
Sitraka
what is the game ?
5quidPr0Qu0
Civilization. Civilization 5 specifically.
Sitraka
hoo ok (Also Total war is better :p )
seakira
Nah, petra can make your desert city massively OP
fallopiantunes
PETRA+SALT+CANAL=DIVINEPURITY
doctorbighats
Nah, it just makes desert tile not completely useless
LassKibble
Lol. Petra is one of the most game-changing Wonders, period. It single handedly wins games.
doctorbighats
Maybe on Prince
GummyGopher
But makes desert hills amazing
Rectunator
That's why you combine it with desert folklore.
Ginkodono
Desert hills can then become 1 food 5 prod, and desert hills near a river can become 3 food 4 prod. That's pretty OP!
AliBarber
Fun fact: Disney castle is based on the neuchwenstein castle. Dumb fact: you're not allowed to take photos inside it.
ThrowawayHBS
Went there this weekend and I may have snuck photos inside
habisawesome
Dumber fact: you can't take photos inside Windsor Castle either
TheRealHMint
There are two castles there. The main one pictured and another one that looks more medieval. We visited the latter cause #1 was so crowded.
camboot
Fun fact.. that's common knowledge
AliBarber
Really? Cos I didn't know until I read it about 2 months ago
ThePerfectGif
tcooker
I was there years ago. Took no outside pics. And no inside pics. So I'm going back this winter to make up for it!
scarywaffles97
Also there was a tiny restaurant tucked away in the little town with amazing beer.
scarywaffles97
I went there last year, got quite a few pics of the outside thankfully, and I remember the inside quite well. It was gorgeous
zFUBARz
It's pretty gorgeous inside and they sell a shit load of post cards of it. Still snagged some pictures (was before digital so can't post) :(
AliBarber
Scan them SCAN THEM. I'm pretty tempted to take a 110 film camera in cos they're tiny and can be palmed very easily
zFUBARz
Just be 13 y/o. Worked great for me! My mom is selling my childhood home this year. I'll keep an eye out for the prints while boxing up.
devasto
You can't take pictures in the Disney castle, or in the Neuschwanstein castle?
AliBarber
Neuschwanstein
devasto
Got it. Also, why not?
choover25
Same reason you can't in the Sistine chapel. Photo rights belong to company to sell photos.
schlummi
Actually its because the flash from millions of tourists photos would damage the equipment/paintings (colours bleaching out etc.).
devasto
I didn't know that about the Sistine Chapel either
