they obviously do not have very young children or pets.

I don't think anyone argues that going under is the correct way, I think they just don't care which is correct.

I get to have the fun position of being hated by both and saying "who fuckin cares"

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They are right? Anyone that does that is a psychopath

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Only 23?!

So I do the roll her way because it not my pets would unravel it in moments

She is incorrect about her toilet paper.

She seems fun, tp notwithstanding

Have you fixed it yet?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I just keep it on top of the toilet

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It just doesn't matter.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

The way she has it is correct for that kind of dispenser, putting it the other way around makes it tear less predictably and you end up with a bunch of TP confetti on the floor, also pets can unspool it that way.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Like just think about it logically for a second. When you pull down from the top the motion you use to pull more TP ends up ripping it. This means it will often either tear by accident, or you'll pull more out than you need because it doesn't tear when you expect it too. When it's on the bottom you pull it towards you without putting stress on the part of it that tears, then you can tear it cleanly every time by tearing from the side and it won't just pull more of it out.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is an acceptable way to hang it IF you have a cat prone to swatting at it.

2 years ago | Likes 117 Dislikes 13

People know you can train cats, right?

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Or toddlers, which are striking similar to cats in many ways

2 years ago | Likes 24 Dislikes 0

All cats that I've known with this problem would either tear it up anyway, or still pull it down just as easily.

Damn, all that technology in the future and humanity still hasn't invented the three seashells yet.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The seashells are in the TP. 3 shells in each roll, for when you have to really scrub yourself clean.

Cat owners put it like the bottom image to stop the cat from playing with it and unrolling it all.

2 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 2

Don’t you dare lump me in with you heretics! It’s such a dumb excuse anyway because the cat can just unroll it from the other direction.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

We had a cat from when I was about 5 to 20. We never did that.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

No we don’t

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

I might be villain, but at least my bathroom is aesthetically pleasing. Makes way more sense for it to go alongside the wall rather than just...weird piece of something hanging in the open

2 years ago | Likes 23 Dislikes 61

You're a villain with poor aesthetic choices.

2 years ago | Likes 67 Dislikes 3

Ah yes. Let's make the toilet paper rub against the wall before I push up against my butthole. Like you're own home I get. But someone else's home or public toilet? Do you trust those walls? When was the last time they cleaned those walls?

2 years ago | Likes 29 Dislikes 3

Its not rubbing against anything, it just is closer than it. And i am not sure why you involve public bathrooms - those are always risky in the first place and should be avoided unless theres no other choice, and theyre having closed dispensors...as for other peoples...yea i dont really go poopin anywhere but home...

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Especially if you accidentally get some on your fingers, and need to grab the toilet paper off the wall now.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Hell, I don't even trust *my* walls!

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10 rolls ago? 20 rolls ago? Imagine how many poop particles are stuck on that wall and now the roll has touched the wall.

2 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That toilet paper is probably gonna be touching a hell of a lot more poop particles very soon.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, but it's about the wall. You kinda missed the point.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Unless you have cats.

2 years ago | Likes 307 Dislikes 28

My oldest cat tears up TP and paper towels. So, we hand to the wrong way for reduced destruction. She no longer jumps on counters so paper towels are now safe from her.

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I've had cats for decades. Never had a problem with my properly hung tp.

2 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 7

Let’s trade cats

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Cats who play with the roll, or small toddlers you haven't locked in a cage yet. They always manage to spin the whole thing to the floor when installed correctly, so the opposite helps when they can't be supervised.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Or 2yold kids.

Bad* cats
11 years and zero incidents messing with the TP, because he is an angel and a baby

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I have a cat who's main haunt I the towel holder in the bathroom. Never had an issue with the TP I think it's just different strokes for each cat.

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You could close the door to the bathroom

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It's also better for pulling off pieces one handed without more than you want rolling down. It's also better for identifying people who care too much and act annoying about inconsequential things so you can conveniently note and ignore them, just like the anti-hawaiian pizza fanatics.

2 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 16

Backwards toilet paper is extremely inconvenient.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Okay, Professor Superiority

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It sure is. Annoying people like you who started wit ha consequential difference you care about. "here's the consequence I care about also people who care are annoying."

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

my 2 cars don't play with TP and neither do my parents 3 cats

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

How does one discern if your cars are playing with TP or not?

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

i check for oil stains

And this is how all cars should look like.

2 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 12

How they should look like what?

2 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah yes. Technology for both has drastically altered. Or has completely stayed the exact same.

2 years ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

I mean you joke but have you seen the machines that make modern toilet paper?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yes, those machines that are placed in my home bathroom and hold my toilet rolls. (No haven’t seen, but I imagine they are bulky and badass)

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

That has nothing to do with the holder, though.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Patent is for a toilet paper roll, not a toilet paper roll holder.

2 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 12

Why down vote this? Read the damn patent. https://patents.google.com/patent/US465588A/en

2 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Fine. Ok. But, in its patent diagram, the inventor had it this way, thus proving that was the intended direction. Not hard to understand and you're being pedantic.

2 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Putting it the other way in the picture would hide the details of the invention. It doesn't in any way imply that it should be put in a holder that way, or that it should be put in a holder at all.

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

My invention consists of a roll of connected sheets of paper for toilet use, said roll having incisions at intervals extending from the side of the web toward the center, but not meeting, and terminating in an angular out, whereby the slight connection left may be separated without injury to the connected sheets. - From the patent.

Unless you have a cat

2 years ago | Likes 17 Dislikes 3

So many people don't understand. I've corrected a friend that tried to reverse it, too which I shared many tales of lost TP

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

I've had cats my whole life and they've never once touched my toilet paper.

2 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

A bad cat isn't an excuse to have incorrect toilet paper.

2 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

You’re suggesting that one attempt to train a cat rather than simply reverse the tp roll. That’s adorable.
