I'm just looking for advice. What would you all recommend I do to aid my search? I'm looking for an office job (preferably not a call center, leaning more towards office assistant... I dream big apparently), but I only have experience working in retail.

I do have a fully updated resume, and I tried to emphasize the office work I've managed to do in my current position, which is actually relatively substantial considering I sell toys.

Any tips/advice?

Try a secretarial temp agency. Many will train while trying to place you.

try volunteering at a non-profit doing office work on the weekend etc. to support a cause, network, and build the resume, or lie

just apply everywhere, and keep sending your resume all over the place. Also have a professional looking resume, I think that helps

I suggest trying for banking. With retail experience, it's easy to get your foot in the door as a teller. After a year or so, there are many

More opportunities once you build up a reputation and contacts.

Get an idea of your typing speed. And... apply to a lot of them. Good luck?

Typing speed is about 101wpm. I'll keep applying. Thanks

Niice. I had to do a typing test when I get my office bitch job. Some experience in office programs, like MS word, excel and outlook is good

Have you ever thought about joining the military?

Temp agencies are a really helpful tool to get in a new industry. The level of knowledge is generally pretty lenient for entry.

My only concern with that is steady income? I don't know how I'd work around my current job's hours, but there is also no guarantee for...

Steady work with a temp agency.

The ones I've worked for will help to place you again once a contract ends. I've only used them for manufacturing though.

I'll have to look into it. Thank you
