I'm almost 60 and an avid gamer. My only fear is that I'm not going live long enough to see all the cool tech that's going to happen.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No, the way we play and visualize games is changing but the games themselves are the same

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ0JTkBZdyw Here's why we need to give VR a few YEARS.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Something people have been saying for the past 30 years.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Now for a WWII FPS with this tech

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

In 5 years This footage is gong to look crap. Roshan was cool tho

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

I'm so glad somebody else noticed him; I genuinely thought I was imagining it after playing too much Ursa

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

VR hasn't learned the lesson of motion controls. Immersion without physical feedback doesn't work and I just give up and use a controller.

10 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 5

The day I have to move to play video games is the day I dust off my Wii and play Wii Sports Resort.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yeah these static games look so interesting.. not.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Maybe the games are changing, but war... War never changes

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Or does it? The war has changed. Did it?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I want dis

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

literally my childhood dream, I'm getting some as soon as I adult

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Was that Roshan breaking through the wood?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WOW! VR got 3rd person mode?! /sarcasm

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

A good VR space sim would destroy what little of a social life I have left.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

From now on, we'll all look like morons

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

.....I digress

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Happy morons though

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I'm already well ahead of you so!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

WTB Dark souls from this POV.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#7 Hey Roshan.. whatcha doin man.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was wondering the same... Giff VR doto Gaben

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm actually wondering if having a screen this close to your eyes for an extended period is bad for your eyes in the long run.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

the problem is still the mobility (roll etc.)

10 years ago | Likes 27 Dislikes 1

The problem will be all the injuries from people tripping over the cable that they can't see.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

For the moment the problem is resolution.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

There's the Omni, which solves the issue somewhat elegantly.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh how I wish I could get excited for vr

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

If you lived by me I'd put your ass in the Vive and you would be excited for VR

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

So what if I do live by you because it shows we do

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You live in Salem Oregon

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Damn no

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If you do in VR you die in real life.......

8 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Pornhub already has a VR section...i havent left my house in weeks...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Kinda makes we wish i still had stereoscopic vision...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

*me

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Man Elite: Dangerous in VR must be amazing.

10 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 0

Star Citizen.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

And? Why is Man Elite dangerous in VR ? Tell us!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

and holy shit have you seen the Eve Valkyrie demo? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I76ylK7iEX4

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

That's an old demo too.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

#4 in this dump is Elite: Dangerous.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Too bad the poor sap is flying a Sidie with fixed pulse lasers...

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Gotta start somewhere. Freewinder wasn't that bad really

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just make a 40k VR game and I will scream 'FOR THE EMPEROR' until my vocal cords jump out of my throat

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Try AirMech Command. It's like a tabletop RTS game with transforming mechs :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

YES

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, 4k is already out of reach for nearly everyone. Why would you do that to your poor GPU?

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

40k is so interesting. Have you read the Guardsman stories?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I think he's referring to Warhammer 40k, not 4k resolution.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

#2 is Hover Junkers. A member of the popular youtube channel "Node" made it with his own dev team Stress Level Zero. link in next comment

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2IKpHgh8of4 The guys from corridor digital are apart of node as well

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Commenting for later.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just wait to you see what the porn industry does with this tech

10 years ago | Likes 653 Dislikes 7

When can i bang jayden james in a holodeck? That is all I want to know

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

OMG! Porn and videogames doing a joint venture!? We could be actual James Bond!

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

porn will be the reason why VR succeeds

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

If video games don't fund this tech enough the porn industry will.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Teledildonics?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

All you have to do is look at GIF #7

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I thought this was a quote from gamer ._.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Sigh... we will need vitamins men, lot's of vitamins...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I already have 0.0

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There already seems to be couch support

10 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 0

Aayyyyy

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Red dwarf groin attachment

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Japan already did it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Is there nothing our neighbors to the east can't teach us?

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Wouldn't recommend English classes from them...

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Is already doing*

10 years ago | Likes 327 Dislikes 0

IN SPACE!!!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

6 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Yep. There's already a VR porn category on pornhub for this stuff.

10 years ago | Likes 101 Dislikes 0

I'm already done.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@pornhub whatchu hearin?

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 2

@pornhub already has VR porn.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

You are a gentleman and a scholar.

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As rare as rocking horse poo

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As rare as hens teeth

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

I call him Fister Roboto. -Krieger

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

And the best thing is he's learning!

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I heard from a friend that there is a category for VR and @pornhub has the tweaking booty that syncs up with the video.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

your "friend" is truly a man of science

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

yeah I heard that too. from a friend ofc...

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

It looks cool, but in reality VR is not good right now.

10 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 16

VR is about as good as it's going to get for a while. It will get cheaper, better optimized, and the headsets may get more comfortable 1/2

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

But if you're expecting to wait a couple years and get some fantasy shit that plugs into your brain stem, then that's not happening.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

i say.. 30 years? yeah. if humans surivive that long and we don't get wiped by robots... 30 years *nods*

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

idk what you've used but after trying the Vive and the Sony VR i gotta say they were both amazing

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

The only difference in these shots from real VR is that the players are superimposed into the game they're actually playing in the scene

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

VR is incredible in reality. The vive is mind-blowing. Of course if you only tried dev kits or cardboard it's meh

10 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 3

Amen. Tried Vive and I have cardboard. You sir know what you're talking about.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Nobody mentions the latency problem. Unless you have a cream of the crop graphics card, you'll get a headache after a few hours.

10 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 5

Build a nice $1000 pc and you'll be okay

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I'm not even talking about computing power, I'm talking about the games.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

That is not realistic for a lot of people.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

If someone can afford the $800 price tag for the HTC Vive, they should be able to manage the PC for it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

It's first gen, these prices will drop, hopefully fast. but that's not true either; i can budget 7-900 dollars for a set, not necessarily /1

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

All these VR games seem to be confined to a small space with no actual exploration. This concerns me.

10 years ago | Likes 193 Dislikes 18

Remember, the VR itself can't move your or you will experience Simulator Sickness which can force you to puke or worst black due to nausea

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

There are reasons none of the previous VR revolutions actually happened. That is one of them. Still good for flight sims though.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

10/10 would get brain damage running into a wall.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Do you remember when the wii first came out? It was even more limited than this.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just the headset and hand controls are already so expensive as to be turning away customers. Dont try add equipment now.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

https://thevoid.com/ VR Tech + Real world "courses" So stoked for this to finish up.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I'm hoping the Virtuix will somehow combine with the Vive and make some sort of VR uber-baby-game-periphery.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Dude, give it a minute.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

im sure a some remotes will come with cmall joysticks so all you have to do is move and youll run where youre looking

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Imagine if we got WoW working with this technology.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Look like they've already opened up warehouses and I bet eventually buildings dedicated to VR. https://www.zerolatencyvr.com/

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

2/2 srry hit "enter" the promise of the simulators (flyin/driving ect) sound amazing to their potential they hold.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The games are not actually confined, some use what is called blink to help teleport you around in the playspace ie budget cuts, the lab, etc

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also these first games are fucking boring.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Elite dangerous has to the the exception here. You take your spaceship places.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

give it a bit of time, changes to how we interface with the hardware will also change.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I can see how that would be concerning if you had absolutely no ability to envision the future

10 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

give it a bit of time, changes to how we interface with the hardware will also change.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Most of the gameplay i've seen is just static spinning shooters. I'd much rather a non VR game i can run around and explore.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Experiencing VR is like nothing you've experienced, it's easy to make an opinion after seeing gameplay, try it out if you can.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I'm sure it's exciting, but I feel like novelty will wear off. For now they're really restricting the capabilites of the tech with poor gams

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

VR is not a novelty, it's a way of experiencing games, some games will be fun to pick up and put down but great VR games will be great games

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

There's going to be a lot of action games where the protaganist gets confined to a wheelchair in the opening cutscene.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

...stop. It will get there.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Seems great for any vehicle combat games! Tanks, planes, ships, Star Wars fighters! Also strategy games like the Total War Series

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Just go out and buy a giant empty building. Done.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I wouldn't be concerned about some very first beta demos. This is just the beginning

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

Pmuch, first gen VR, ALL of it, Occulus/Vive are pretty simplistic games, gonna need a few iterations to be worth more than a novelty.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You're never going to be in an mmorpg world, not unless we get a full dive system like sao.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 3

Is that even possible? I've never studied it.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not with our technology, it would only be possible if we could have computers able to understand and compute signals to the brain.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

"WHY ISN'T VR PERFECT ON THE FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT, WHY DOESN'T MY PS1 RUN AT 1080p" Shit takes time to perfect, broseph.

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Even with room-scale games, VR movement is really hard to do while keeping it immersive but also safe.

10 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

http://store.steampowered.com/app/400940/ Is one of the most creative workarounds I've seen so far.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

It's a lot harder to make the game immersive if you include whole body and leg motions. Plus, if you think about it, do you, or most (1)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

gamers, have the stamina and agility for that? Think about the stuff you do in, say, Skyrim.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I'd be a damn fun workout. :)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Good point. I know I'd work out more if it involved this kind of thing.

9 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What I've seen most take place in a space similar to the size of your room. Devs can add door transitions or moving with controllers. (1/2)

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The only thing Is it's hard to make it entirely submersive due to real word physical limitations.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Elite: Dangerous is #4, and is using it to best effect here. Seeing as you sit in a chair for the entirety of the game.

10 years ago | Likes 33 Dislikes 0

Also, the in-game menu systems react when you look at them, both in the VR and in Mouse-looking with PC.

10 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

That's the only game I've seen that made me think VR would actually be perfect for it.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I have enough jaw dropping moments by just using the mouse to look around. Think I'd jazz my pants in vr

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Any game where you stay seated would be perfect. Hell, simulators have been around for a loong time and are used by industry.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

First gen baby. You gotta walk before you run, literally.

10 years ago | Likes 163 Dislikes 1

And crawl before you walk.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is at least 3rd gen, maybe even 4th (view-master, Virtua Reality, Sega / Ninento VR solutions...). all "neat" at the time, all dead.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 3

While true, those don't come close to what this VR is accomplishing. I feel this is the first real solid attempt at it rather than a novelty

10 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Sure. It's _better_ but doesn't solve any problem or "accomplish" much. It's like the 3D TV trend from 2 years ago. VR 2nd life? no thanks.

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

VR works best when people are stationary or restricted to small spaces, like the bridge of a ship. Its too jarring to move but not move.

10 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

And finding real world walls unexpectedly, sucks.

10 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Hahaha

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I had a Forte VFX1, old school vr with head tracking, 3d motion mouse. Played original Doom. Face -> wall. Pain, nausea and disorientation.

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0
